The company they actually work under is American Casualty Co and it has over 500 one-star reviews on google(had i known this i would not have purchased a policy from them.) American Auto Insurance is a scam and the reviews on that website are fraudulent. I was in an accident on March 10, 2025 and it is now April 15th, 2025 and my claim is still "pending." I have given them EVERYTHING they have requested from me regarding my claim. They have no upper management office and only conduct business through mailed letters and emails that take 5-7 business days to respond. This has got to be the absolute worst car insurance company I have ever came across. If you're thinking about purchasing a policy through them I highly suggest you do your research! read more

I was very excited to work with American auto after doing lots of research and reading all of the positive reviews. They gave me a rate I was very happy with and all was well. Well then the unfortunate happened someone hit my car and left the scene, I filed a police report and promptly contacted the insurance, direct auto, with the license plate and my police report information. My car needed a new fender and bumper. They approved my claim but told me it would be only $420 to fix. I asked for their mechanic and they gave me a number, I called him to make an appointment. He told me he couldn't get me in until July 1. This was the middle of February. I told them I couldn't wait that long and I would be contacting my insurance again. After several stints on hold I was able to get of the adjuster and she said I could just get it fixed it was only going to be $420, my deductible was $500. I said well I need another mechanic in your network so they sent me to someone else. The mechanic was great and he got me right in. He informed me that the work was going to be much more than $500. When I called bsck the insurance agent she said I don't know what your mechanic is talking about its only going to be $420 I said not my mechanic your mechanic. The mechanic told me they've done this in the past to deter their clients to go to their own mechanics instead of theirs in their network so when it's much more than the $500 it's now their problem. I go to pick my car up and pay the $500 the mechanic and the insurance still tries to tell me it's only $420, then puts me on hold to call the mechanic. The mechanic then tells us they never spoke to him. What an unethical company. I wasn't even going to leave this review but you guys won't stop calling me! I have told you twice I switched to State Farm and of my issues with the company you sent me to, so that shows me you don't even care enough to look into it! read more

!!! SCAMMER!!! I have bought insurance online from this agency and cancelled it next day. The insurance was united equitable auto insurance. They charged me 323 first installment the acutal insurance was 223 or something near. When I told them to cancle they asked me to write a letter and send it to their email adress. After one month i have recieved my money $ 203. So they charged me $120 just for one day Insurance. Its a big scam. read more

I've used this company for years, and unfortunately with 3 boys under the age of 25 they could not give me the best coverage and quotes. My last straw was a quote for $400 per month for my 19yr old driving a 2011 Chevy Equinox, no tickets, no accidents. However when it came to cancelling the policy for a different car and son, WHAT A DIFFICULT TIME!!! I faxed over a cancellation document provided to me by my new insurance agent, had mine and my son signature and they still weren't satisfied. First they wanted my new policy....UMM NO! No reason for you to get that. Second they said they wouldn't honor the cancellation date because it was 5 days ago so it'll be effective today. BUT I FAXED IT IN AND GOT CONFIRMATION OF THE DATE. Oh it's when we receive it which was this morning. Not my fault it was sitting in your in box and you didn't process it when you got it. If I could give 0 stars, that's what this place would get because they don't even deserve 1 star. I have been insured through their company for over a year and never had problems with their particular agency. However when I got notification to renew my policy, that all changed. I was quoted a premium for 12 months, which was $87.75 per month when I divided the premium by 12. My mother renewed my insurance for me while I was at work and when I got home she told me my monthly payments would be $99.00 per month. I called to inquire why I was going to be paying more than I should, when it was explained to me that I was going to be paying only 9 installments and get 3 months free. That still made my premium $200 more than what I was quoted. I called back and the girl explained that there are "finance fees" that are not included in your quoted premium that you would get information about 5-7 business days AFTER you agree to the initial quoted premium! This is illegal and I hope the Better Business Bureau shuts these crooks down!! I immediately cancelled my policy and demanded a refund for their wrong doings. Any place is better than this one, folks! They are by far the worst insurance agency I have ever dealt with, and the actual insurance company they put me with was awful! read more

I would like to give the worst rating posible. An umbrella company that will blatantly steal your money! Just finished reporting the to the BBB. I paid $250.00 down for full coverage insurance. I get a contract that states I paid $174.00. I called to state the contract is incorrect and I have the receipt from their site. They claim I paid for roadside assistance. When I asked for proof they claim they are unable to provide this in writing. I asked why there wasn't a charge last year when I purchased liability with roadside assistance, they state that I paid 75.00 for roadside assistance and $2.00 for my car insurance. $2.00 really. Once I told the representative the actual difference in payment was $76.00 not $75.00 she tells me her supervisor told her that they can't produce it writing ,a verbal confirmation is all they can do!
