I had a very bad experience. I was tempted by the very low offer ($750 for a round-trip shipping from California to Illinois) and thought that since I signed a contract 2 months in advance it was locked in. The car pickup was delayed 3 times, leading us to completely scramble to find a safe place for our car since we were leaving on flights. Then at the literal 11th hour, less than an hour before the car was supposed to be picked up, I was told it would be an additional $2,000 to pick up the car. I had an incredibly terrible experience with American Car Ship Inc. They initially quoted me a very low price of $765 to ship my Jeep Wrangler from Illinois to Oregon. I was skeptical and asked if that rate was guaranteed, and they assured me that it was locked in and wouldn't change. That turned out to be completely false. On the scheduled day of pickup, they called and nearly tripled the price to $1,800--far above the market average of around $1,200 for that route. When I pushed back, they gave vague explanations and refused to take accountability. I later found several reviews from other customers who had almost identical experiences: lowball quotes that suddenly skyrocketed at the last minute, often on the day of pickup when customers have few options left. Even worse, they tried to keep my deposit. I had to cite their own contract, which clearly states that a refund is due if no carrier is dispatched, and threaten legal action before they agreed to issue the refund. The entire interaction was unprofessional and dishonest. Bottom line: This company engages in bait-and-switch pricing and shady business practices. Avoid American Car Ship Inc. at all costs. They wasted my time, caused unnecessary stress, and nearly cost me hundreds of extra dollars. Don't fall for the low quote, they won't honor it. P.s. This company sent an estimate for $355. I booked it with "$100 down." Despite numerous phone calls, texts and emails, "Jason Walker" (Who I have come to assume is not a real person) and his cohort "Matthew" did not disclose any final price or provide confirmation of the driver's information until AFTER they had already sent him to collect the car. It was only then, I got a nonsensical email telling me the car had been taken and $1 a mile would be due in cash at my house when the car was delivered!!! That's $1000 more than they quoted!! I expressly insisted that I be contacted and clear documentation on price and insurance be provided to me, but they evaded contact with me as soon as they got a deposit. I don't know to call the police or what. Someone has my car and will be at my house with it tomorrow demanding cash. Avoid this company!! Slimeballs!! Contracted to transport our van from TX to MN for $475 - $150 first payment and $325 cash on delivery. contacted me the day of pickup to say that the driver is now asking for $1800, then $1200, then $700 then $550. Explicitly told them we will not pay anything but the $475 that we contracted for and if they couldn't provide the service then we would expect to be refunded our $150. Tried to tell us that the $150 was a processing fee and that it was non-refundable and that the contract stated that the price could change (thats not true, the contract only said it could not guarantee pickup and delivery times, not that it couldn't guarantee price AND it has a clear refund policy to cancel for a full refund prior to the car being dispatched. Ultimately that said they dispatched a driver and the pickup went fine but when they delivered the car to me, the driver said it would be $550, not $325, or they wouldn't release the van. When I tried to contact Blake Milo at American CarShip to said not to call him anymore and that they were just the middleman and their job was done. DO NOT WORK WITH AMERICAN CARSHIP. They blatantly lie and put us in a situation where we were forced to pay more than we contracted for. read more

I wish I had came here to read these reviews before having gone with their service. they quoted low and after receiving their $150 deposit, they failed to complete the contract and never picked up the car as they stated they would by Tuesday 04/14/26, latest, Wednesday. Even after giving them the benefit of the doubt and giving them an extra 2 days, they failed to pick up the car. They stated they would tell me once it was picked up but after requesting a refund they bailed and didn't answer anymore. This is serious business, I shouldn't have to struggle last minute because they failed to come through with the agreement. Now I am having to leave my work last minute and buy a last minute flight to pick up a car that was supposed to be here by now. Do not recommend. Terrible service. read more

Beware of Scam! This company will give you a very competitive quote and then 2 days before shipment will QUADRUPLE the price! Their scam is that the original driver who they arranged now doesn't have the appropriate insurance. They will guarantee not to worry...then the only available driver cost FOUR TIMES as much. I would never use their services again. They low ball you with the lowest offer till you sign their contract then let you know that you will lose the $150 you paid them as fees if you do not accept the new quote which is twice as much as the original offer. They are not a transporter. they are a broker and who knows where they are operating from. I would never recommend their services to anyone I know or use them again. read more

Negative Review I needed to transport my car from Texas to Virginia and contacted several companies for quotes. This company, represented by Jacob, offered the lowest price--$450. I signed the contract and made an advance payment on November 8th, with the agreement that the car would be picked up sometime between the 11th and 15th. During that time, Jacob failed to keep me updated on the status of my car's transportation. I repeatedly reached out for information on when the vehicle would be loaded and delivered, but all I got were vague responses like, "I'm looking for a carrier." He then told me the price would no longer be $450 but $750. Fine, I agreed to the higher price because I needed the car delivered before the holidays. Finally, after constant follow-ups, I was informed that a driver had been found and that the car would be picked up on November 20th. The next day, I received the driver's contact information and tried to get in touch to confirm the delivery timeline. The driver did not respond to calls or messages. I informed Jacob about the issue, and he provided me with a second phone number, but that number also went unanswered. By November 23rd--four days after the supposed pick-up date--I found out that the car had not been picked up at all. Jacob then started making excuses and claimed he was "working on finding another driver." This is absurd! This company does everything it can to take your money upfront but fails to deliver on its promises. Avoid them at all costs! On November 25th, I contacted another carrier who organized everything within 24 hours, and my car is now en route. Despite my efforts, I have been unable to recover my deposit, and this company shows no intention of refunding the money. I will also be filing a formal complaint with the appropriate regulatory authorities to report this company's unethical practices and poor treatment of customers. read more

If you cancel before pick-up, they don't just take $150 deposit, they attempt to charge even more for no services period while telling you to trust them. we are a transport company and have worked with these liarsss!!! they charge all customers a hefty fee (broker fee) for doing nothing! davin and brian are liars and thieves do not work with them! you think you're paying them to transport your car but in reality youre just paying them to do nothing! i have never left a bad review for a broker before. they owed our transport company money for delivering a vehicle and they never paid us and just gave us the run around for 3 weeks!! be aware! they are double brokering loads as well (illegal) read more

If I could negative stars, I would. Terrible experience with the company that lied on multiple occasions. First they gave me a lower price and pickup date that matched what I needed (military moving to Hawaii for next duty station). When the date approached my vehicle to be picked up, I was informed that they didn't secure my vehicle a spot on the ship, and I would have to pay more for delivery a month and a half later. This caused me to pay for a rental car, but I was stuck with the company who already took my deposit and charged for the shipping. I used a different company for my other car, and had a much better experience (highly recommend you use Benson Auto Trans instead). I had to hound them with text and calls for updates, and had to threaten to report them to the BBB. Once I finally received my vehicle, they had the audacity to ask for a tip, with no regard to how much they already cost me. read more

I was contacted by this company in early Feb for shipping of my vehicle. First they gave me an estimate and then said I needed to put $100 down and the estimate was $799.00 to transport on 3/4/24 and deliver 3/8. I paid the 100 and I had talked to "Chris"/Mgr on or about 2/6-8 and asked if the price they gave me was firm. He said yes it "would not change". On 3/4 I get a "text" saying "good morning" how are you doing from this random number (keep in mind I told them 2 days before please do not text me but to CALL me", so I tell them to call me, NOW Bryan calls me (the supposed to be other manager) and he asks if my pickup date can be changed to 3/5, due to the drivers had a lot of cars to drop off and couldn't get mine on the projected date. I tell him sure that's not a problem. He then proceeds to tell me that the price is $1499. Of course I am totally blown away because i was told this would not happen and I am relocating and need my car. I don't have that in my budget and Bryan proceeds to tell me that the prices can change (which I understand, but not double) and I advised him what Chris had confirmed and bryan says "I doubt if he told you that", then I say well go back and listen to the phone calls, he says well what if it isn't there, I tell him the only reason the call won't be there is because you deleted it. I have no reason to lie. So i tell him I want my $100 refunded because they did not provide any service but a great disservice and they tried to strongarm me into using them. He even asked me, well what can you afford, "really"?? this company is not one that anyone should entrust their business to. They are unfair in their practices and if I could give them a zero star I would. they don't tell you the truth and just try to scam you out of money. I have had to try to find another company to transport my vehicle in a day which is a HUGE stress factor on an elderly lady, in addition to I don't have money to give away. I was never assigned a carrier, on the date that the vehicle was supposed to be picked up they were still "looking" for someone....
