She is only a couple of blocks away, but I don't think I'll be going back for anything. The room that you walk into, which is the living room of a remodeled house turned business, was very messy and things seemed to be thrown everywhere. The business doesn't seem like that of a busy seamstress, just a messy one. It wasn't inviting. How friendly you are as a person is really going to have an effect on many things in your life. Whether you receive good tips, if you get reoccurring patrons, and even your mood. Maria, if that is the person that I spoke with both times I went in, didn't smile at me during either encounter. She didn't speak to me outside of what information was needed: what I wanted done and when. I actually had to ask for a price before I left; she said it would be $10.00. Her answer seemed like she didn't know what she should charge, so she pulled out a random number. After searching online a little bit, a full zipper replacement of a lined dress could cost anywhere from $12 to $25. I didn't need a full replacement (I don't think; again, didn't speak to me much at all), so I guess I got a deal. Before I had left after leaving my dress, she asked for my phone number. Because of this, I thought she would be giving a call upon the completion of the work - she didn't. I was pretty busy, so I came back a week later to pick it up though she said it would be ready the next business day. As you can see from the picture of my green dress, there were several loose threads. If I go to have something professionally done, I expect professional work. And a smile.

Here's some background: I love Johnny Was. It is my favorite brand. I don't buy it often because it is expensive, but I scour for sales, and I always end up getting 1-2 pieces per year. This year, so far, I have bought four pieces because sales have been insane. I bought an amazing dress on sale from Neiman's online this spring, but it was a full size too big and way too long. I needed several changes: the arms shortened, the whole bottom shortened (but replaced with the original bottom piece because of the way the dress kicks out at the bottom) and it needed to be taken in everywhere. Natalie came to the house, and as she was pinning, I started to realize what an undertaking it would be. The end result is phenomenal. I love it even more than I thought I would. I think my favorite thing is that she added a drawstring so I can tighten it at the waist. Even after spending hours on my dress, she took the time to add a wonderful detail: to the ends of the drawstrings, she added some of the embroidery from what she had taken off. It was some absolutely amazing attention to detail and I was so thankful for the time she put in overall. I found the pricing and turnaround time both incredibly reasonable for what I needed done. I also appreciate Natalie for being so patient with my daughter (an extra extrovert who never gets to see humans anymore). Natalie was so attentive to and patient with her, even though it is not in the job description to dote on wordy four year olds. I know everyone always wants Laura, but Natalie is amazing.
