There is simply no way to deny the fact that my teeth have been horrible (increasingly so) throughout my adult life. In my "younger and stupider" late teen years too many soccer and football impacts, fights and the lack of prompt dental attention left me with a living dental pathology study. Among my 2022 New Year's resolutions was to restore dental health. Dreading the cost, I secured top-line (Dental Dental premium-level) insurance and squirreled away a considerable war chest. In mid-summer I made my first visit to American Dental Center. Negatives first, as they are few and relatively insignificant. First, parking is very difficult and compounded by the fact that legal on-street parking isn't available for blocks. Next, on at least two visits wait times were 15 to 20 minutes beyond my scheduled appointment. Finally, while I almost always found the reception area to be welcoming, friendly and efficient, unwarranted brusque (never rude) behavior was encountered when they were very busy-- to be expected, I suppose. Dr. David Paltac was the main dentist for my procedures. Although often rushed, he was quite thorough and responsive to both questions and requests. Additionally, he showed himself to be caring and genuinely focused upon quality work. With due respect to Dr. Paltac, however, the "superstar" was dental surgeon Dr. Yakov Yakubov. With nitrous oxide flowing and a favorite Spotify playlist streaming, over a dozen surgical procedures was-- dare I say-- enjoyable. Everything healed quickly and without complication. Complementing the care team were several outstanding dental assistants. Each was kind enough to keep me up-to-date with the in-process procedures and provide engaging discussion during delays and waits. Always friendly and professional, they were outstanding. Ann worked with my insurance company to arrive at an agreed cost that was about 25% of what I had budgeted. If I had Ann in my corner 15 years ago I wouldn't have waited so long to have this work done. Thank you! Other than the parking, there are a few things to know about American Dental Center. First, their #1 gripe with patients appears to concern "ghosting," and they seemingly don't forget such indiscretions. Being a few minutes early for each scheduled appointment is noticed and appreciated. Next, this is a high-volume dental practice, with many professionals. The waiting areas can get very crowded by mid-afternoon. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, they are quite accommodating to working-out comfortable payment plans, but this is a "pay-as-you-go" operation. If a payment is due, bring your checkbook or credit card if you want to be seen by a dentist. While this seems reasonable, the waiting room has overheard some heated debates on the topic. Thusfar, I've been very pleased by my decision to bring my previously-miserable teeth to American Dental Center. read more

I have been a patient for over 10 years. I am very disappointed in the treatment I recently received. I made a partial payment for dental work in October 2022. Upon further work needing to be done I was informed that the work I needed could not be done. In mid-July, I requested a refund. I was told that refunds are sent out on 8/1/2023. I reached out on 8/9 and was told the refund was mailed on 8/9. I reached out on 8/16 and was told the refund was mailed on 8/11. It is now 8/19 and I still have not received the refund. The dental hygienist is always late. Got at the office at 2:30pm and now is 3:43pm and I still waiting. It really annoys me that no apology is made by the staff and they do not inform you when you first go in. Now is 4:27pm and I only got my x-ray and cleaning done. Still waiting for the exam. I left the dental's office at 5:10pm. Beside all the waste time there, the doctor I was waiting to see.. didnt't see me. Terrible service! I mentioned everything to the attedant at the end, which she really didn't care. She was more concern about her cell phone and then she replied : I can inactive your file right now. They were unprofessional and didn't respect my time as patience. Time to find a new dental place.:( read more

I have a lot of positive things to say about American Dental. The negative is minor compared to the positive experiences. I have been coming here since 2001 faithfully, I've had other appointments with other offices but the quality of care was not the same. The turn over rate for the office staff here is ridiculous and the good ones always leave. The front desk staff can be extremely cold and rude sometimes. Once you get to know them they are super warm and friendly. I understand its a very busy office and its very small. They see people of all ages and walks of life here. But I believe if they weren't under staffed at the front things could run a lot smoother. There is no organization behind that counter. Everybody wants to be in charge. And everybody knows it all. If they can get things together at the front desk they would be on point. But the doctors is what really keeps bringing people back. I've always been able to get an appointment on the fly if need be , and they're always very accommodating. I had a very serious fear of going to the dentist. I didn't want anybody to touch me and I avoided going at all cost. But that's not healthy. But my doctor ( Kwiatek) is amazing. And honestly as long as he stays at the practice so will I. He's extremely kind and gentle. The level of patience he has is incredible. Other doctors could learn a thing or two from him. In 2018 it can be really hard to find a great doctor especially a young one with good bedside manner. I know that when I sit in his chair he's going to treat me with the upmost respect and highest quality of care. I used to start crying before he would even touch me because I was so afraid to be seen. He didn't get angry or make rude comments about it. He would talk me through everything he was going to do. I went to the office in Union NJ the staff was wonderful, however after my office visit I was taken into the office and was told that I had to pay the bill in full. I have been a customer for over 25 years and if the procedures change I should have been notified in advance. She only gave me her options for repayments. She said it was corporate who made the billing changes. I wanted to make some type of payment arrangements as I did in the past but she did not want to hear it. I am not happy with the way they operate their billing in regards to the customers. They should let the customers know up front . THIS PRACTICE NEEDS TO BE CHANGED read more

I aged out of my pediatric dentist. This is where my mom went so this is where I ended up going. I'd never had issues with dentists taking advantage of me, so when I went in and she told me I had cavities that needed to be filled I listened and scheduled to have them filled. She failed to mention she was taking OUT old fillings that were FINE and replacing them with new ones THAT ARE NOT FINE AND ARE STILL UNCOMFORTABLE TO THIS DAY. I went in about the discomfort and they couldn't do anything about it, because they're incompetent. I'm so pissed about this because these teeth that were perfectly fine have sensitivities that they didn't have before. So unprofessional. This place is all about the money, and as many other have mentioned the staff is rude. After my experience here my whole family left and went to another dentist. When I told my new dentist where I was transitioning from she herself said that American Dental is horrible, and she's had many of her patients come to her after issues with them. Stay away from this place, they only care about the money. Edited to respond to Beth: At this point the fillings have already been taken out and painfully replaced. I went back in about this a few months later and nothing was able to be done about the throbbing. All she did was take the filling out again, and replace it a second time...my tooth still throbs out of nowhere and is incredibly sensitive. I've never had fillings do this before, so I left, and have no plans of returning. No need to "verify my claims" (though why would anyone leave an untruthful review about a dentists office...), it seems like many others have had poor experiences here. It's very busy on the weekends, so don't plan on having your appointment actually be on time or even close to your appt. time. Went there with my husband for an 8:30a and 9:00am. We left at 11:30a. We waited and waited and waited. The dentist and hygienist were so busy that the visit was very impersonal. I felt like cattle just being moved from room to room to get it over and done with. I was supposed to go to The Apprehensive Patient Dental Office, I was going to be a little late for the appointment and I was lambasted by the receptionist. ADC in Union , New Jersey is my choice for dental everything. Hygienist, Karen is thorough, professional, friendly and exacting. The whole staff is knowledgeable and eager to help. Dr Goldstein, the oral surgeon has done wonderful work when I have needed his services. Dr Paltac ,the coordinator and director has taken his time with me and explained fully any and all procedures and options. His work is impeccable. I have been a patient since 2002 and would never return to the 9 or 10 dentists I've had previously. I got my wisdom teeth removed here and the experience was awful. There was A LOT of pressure from the finance folks. After the procedure, a piece of one of the teeth remained and was pressing into my gums. I just lived with it, because I had no confidence they could fix it. Today, via an x-ray from my new dentist, I discovered a piece of a metal tool that was left in my jaw! That might explain the headaches I've been having over the past 4 years. read more

It was a terrible experience. My husband had pain. I called got the appointment right away which was good. X-ray tech is very nice. Oral surgeon was a condescending jerk. Dismissed me from the room. The hygienist was so nasty as well. Didn't give my husband instructions for post care. Gave two scripts didn't explain what they are and he was dismissed as well. Terrible place. It was a factory! I was a previous patient many years ago 20 years +. My girlfriend mentioned this dentist that she and her husband go to. I was surprised that it was the same one. But it was closer to my home so I gave it another chance since years had passed. Well after the horrible pain I experience during the x-rays I was shuffled to a room where he evaluated my pic's and said I have gum disease and before I consider getting braces they would have to cut my gums push them back so they could clean my gums. Well I was surprised since I've been going to another dentist that never mentioned I have gum disease. Well I was shuffled to another room where she gave me the breakdown of my cost, as we talked she was interrupted every few seconds with questions from the staff about everybody but me. Well while she continued to answer them I just got up and left. I was never contacted by them except for a bill. Oh I remember why I left before, they spilled solution on my clothes that must of had some type of bleach in it because it ruined my clothes and they continually billed me for services I didn't have. Please verify your itemized charges if they suggest a treatment you will get billed for it you have to inform them that you are declining that treatment. Good Luck!! read more

The front desk staff was very busy yet professional. Financial group was very customer service friendly and well trained in recommending expensive dental procedures. The office was full with different dentist. After being evaluated by several dentists, I asked if I can be assigned to one dentist, this way I can feel comfortable to one dentist. My request was honored. I was assigned to one of the senior dentist, he performed an emergency service and removed a tooth in the back of my mouth. So far so good. Next visit was to remove a cavity that was filled with silver filling and replace with a temporary crown. When I return to have to permanent crown installed I told Dr. P that I could not bite on the tooth and the tooth was very sensitive to cold water, He waved his hand and say, "do not worry about it". He proceeded to permanently insert the crown on my tooth. Well the same sensitivity did not go away. I returned to discuss the matter. Dr. P prescribed antibiotics stating, that it must be an affection. I finished the medication and the tooth still felt the same. Now I am a little disappointed because Dr. P. then recommend me to go to another dentist to have a root canal. It was then when I decided that I would not come back to this office again. Now I have to go to another doctor, sit throw the root canal procedure and paid an additional fee. I went to another doctor but not the doctor that D. P recommended. read more
