We walked in and asked a few questions, then ordered what we wanted. They were also able to deliver due to the close proximity from the bakery. Delivery was a little early, but that was a good thing. The cake turned out amazing! We were very pleased with the overall service and quality of the cake. The cake was moist, tasty, and definitely enough for everyone. The bakery itself does have daily baked goods. The bakery itself is very clean and neat. The employees were nice. It was almost $70 ($50 for just the cupcakes) with a tip, which I feel like is extremely expensive for cupcakes. I've been to American Dream cakes a handful of times since moving to Jacksonville. They are my absolute go-to for eclairs and cream puff cravings! Until I'd tried their homemade ones, I'd only ever eaten store made eclairs. The chocolate was a bit different (darker maybe?), but the overall taste was worlds apart! I will say that besides those two pastries...I have yet to have anything else there that I like. For some reason, their cupcakes and cookies have this strange refrigerated taste to them. Like they aren't fresh or something, I can't pinpoint it. Putting them out to reach room temperature doesn't seem to help either, so I just don't get the cupcakes. A shame, really, because I don't know of any other place around to get cupcakes that aren't from a grocery store. The staff are always nice, and the owner (I think that's who he was) was very nice and gave me two pistachio thumbprint cookies for free to try. Their prices are great, too! read more

On the outside they looked great very presentable and looked like they would taste delicious , but as soon as I took a bite it was like eating cardboard. Very dry and not flavorful. They called to say they couldn't make my cake because of Florence, I gave them more time just Incase the electric would come back in knowing they were unsure if they could make the cake. Two days later and the water is still rising and all roads are closed. We were forced to move the wedding to Raleigh, the venue and all the homes we had rented were badly damaged and accessible. Every other local merchant understood they could not accommodate us and or we could not get to them and refunded us during this stressful time. Not American dream cakes. They got power and told us we could come get the cake, well from Raleigh that was impossible. They refuse a refund. For a cake they couldn't even promise and one they didn't even make. Keeping my full payment for something that didn't cost them anything is wrong. Beware, there are plenty of Cake makers out there that are honest and understanding especially during such an awful act of Mother Nature and my son's wedding being ruined. He always goes above and beyond anything I have ever dreamed possible with the ideas I bring him. One year it was the bridge of the space ship in the Firefly series. Another time, he made us a Tardis from Dr Who. The only thing better than how these cakes looked was how they TASTED! Their gourmet cupcakes are better than just good. Very nice bakery cake taste great very friendly people however i ordered a cake for my moms birthday 1/29/19 a yellow cake buttercream frosting and fresh strawberry filling in the middle. The portion of cake balance with the filling was horrible there was less than a hall of inch of strawberry filling between the two layer 8 inch circle cake. I was very disappointed and so was everyone else however they are a nice bakery and the cakes are pretty good. This was my second purchase from them. They use buttercream frosting and the cake itself was so moist. Our flavors were chocolate, white coconut, white almond. My nieves were having their 8th grade graduation celebration. I know you need to order in advance but I only gave them a couple days since I needed to travel too. It didn't matter that it was last minute- the cake was everything I could have asked for and come to know with this bakery. My nieces wanted chocolate on chocolate cake. I thought it was going to be teeth rattling sweet. I was so wrong. It was so good that we all were scraping the frosting off the side of the box. Yesterday, I stopped by for a treat and it was our first time at this bakery. I asked for 2 chocolate cupcakes and 1 red velvet cupcake. When I got home I realized that the lady helping me mistakenly gave me an orange chocolate cupcake instead of the red velvet. At first I was frustrated with the mistake.... Need more stars! I live out of town and needed 8 pies and cupcakes for an event that I was hosting. Randy was so helpful in placing the order and I was more than thrilled when I picked them up. The display was amazing and all of my guests enjoyed the desserts. Pies included coconut cream, chocolate cream, banana cream, pecan, key lime, lemon meringue, chocolate peanut butter,and Boston cream pie. All of the guests raved about the pies and fought over who was going to take some home. The gourmet cupcakes were gorgeous - lemon cream, pineapple cream, cookies & cream, and funky chunky monkey. If there is something specific you want you'll need to make an order to ensure they'll have it for that day. I've never ordered a cake from them before, so I'm not sure how they are.
