This was my first time going to cheddars! It was a very lovely looking restaurant, but with a casual feel Our server was John and he was probably the most polite and attentive server I've ever encountered, especially in Jacksonville! What a nice surprise to have sweet, hot croissants as a complementary "welcome to cheddars" appetizer! We had ordered the chips and queso with a spoonful of ground beef as our appetizer. John had mentioned that the spoonful of ground beef was no extra charge. We all ordered some sort of tea and they were all complementary refills, which was a nice surprise ! Hi, had ordered the baked potato soup because I had enough to eat with the chips and queso. Came back to Jacksonville for a funeral, been away for 2 years. Cheddars has always been a dependable place with good value, but we learned after leaving the area that some locations can have hiccups. We went here because we've always had good experiences when I was stationed here. There was a 15 minute wait when we arrived, but that is super reasonable for a payday weekend Friday night in Jacksonville. Pretty decent noise level but not so loud we had trouble talking. Even though the place was full, our server was great and the food came out quick and tasted good. Wife and I each got a drink, dinner, extra salad plus two kids meals for $78 which is very good. A group of 6 ladies went for lunch on Tuesday. Our server, Blair, was friendly and attentive and answered our questions. He didn't rush us as we took our time making selections. The food arrived in good time. The delicious, sweet breads were brought out right away and were warm. I ordered the honey hot chicken tender platter with coleslaw and the broccoli casserole. The meat was tender, and the sauce was spicy and delicious. The broccoli casserole had a nice little crunch. We also shared the fried onion rings appetizer. This was my first experience dining at Cheddar's and I have to say it was a home-run! I enjoyed the lemon pepper grilled chicken meal and for dessert the chocolate fudge caramel cake was beyond heavenly! The warm honey butter croissants were magnificent and I could not help but to have several. I should mention it was early afternoon on a weekday so I cannot speak to the service on weekends or evenings, however my server was attentive and ensured that I enjoyed my meal. The food is solid, the fried foods sit heavy in your stomach, the atmosphere is much more upscale than your typical national chain like Chili's or Red Robin. The service is a bit questionable considering it was fairly quiet for a Saturday evening. They cooked the food well, seasoned well, nothing was too tough and was appreciated across the board in our party. Carmen was extremely sweet and she dealt with the large party antics, I just wish she had gotten more help than the occasional staff member dropping off a plate. Refills were a bit hard to come by (we had 3 different drinks total in the table of 8) so perhaps offer staff a pitcher or assistance ensuring refills are being done. She was attentive to our needs, ensured that everything was what we requested, took careful notes and even offered suggestions that we ended up taking up on with much satisfaction. all in all, it's always a pleasant experience coming here. I went to Cheddars for the first time as per recommended by my friend. I must say, they left an amazing first impression. When approaching the door, our door was opened by a hostess and greeted by a second. We were promptly taken to our booths and our server was very friendly. The restaurant is decorated very nicely and had a great atmosphere. I love that they offer games and show photos of certain dishes/drinks on a mini tablet for easy access and payment. Once you order drinks they give you a free honey butter croissant and whoever created that is amazing. Of course our food was delicious. My baby back ribs fell off the bones and were extremely tender. I highly recommend their watermelon Vodkarita for fellow fruity alcoholic lovers. Such a pretty interior so I had high hopes upon arriving but our server was horrible. His family was there and at the table next to us. I asked for a water and beer. He never brought it and sat down with his family to talk with them. I asked him if he could bring my drinks and he said "oh, sorry, I didn't realize they didn't bring you your beer yet." Why is that someone else's responsibility? You are sitting right next to me and can see I have nothing. The food took forever to come out, he never apologized for the wait, asked if we enjoyed the meal, or offered dessert - any of the basics of professional service. He asked us how everything was when we only had our drinks, and honestly how much could anyone say about that? Seriously bare minimum service that makes me never want to return which is a shame. The food was average and what you would expect from any chain but the service was the problem. The fact that you're brazen enough to "hang out" while you're supposed to be working and leaving your paying customers to wait is...pretty wild. The hostess was very sweet and sat us right away so shout out to her. I recommend having the manager check on the tables as a way of addressing any service recovery needs. read more

Cheddar's painkiller is a must! It's like a pina colada with coconut flakes on the rim. It is delicious but the only catch is a limit of 2 per person. Why Cheddar's why? Haha Their honey croissants is also a must for appetizers! The service is fast and great. The waiter checked on us multiple times. Food is delicious and the indoor decor is unique and beautiful. While visiting town and staying in a nearby hotel, I popped in for lunch and dinner on consecutive days - both times I visited, I was immediately greeted and seated, then offered a steaming hot, sticky croissant roll by the server. Their offerings are pretty basic - classic comfort food standards with a touch of Southern flair - all touted as "scratch made" meals with TGIF-like photography and descriptions on their placemat-style menus; fancy chicken tenders, Country Fried Steak (or Chicken), Chicken Pot Pies, classic appetizers and fresh-off-the-frozen-seafood-truck offerings like salmon, white fish and tilapia. For dinner the first night, I had a couple of boozy cocktails from the bar - including a spectacular Patron Margarita ($10) - before ordering the Coconut Shrimp appetizers ($9), which featured six small, but nicely fried, butterflied shrimp served with their tasty "Painkiller" dipping sauce - a Piña Colada sauce made with "...fruit juice, crushed pineapple, coconut and stuff...", according to my server. For dinner, since I was still in the mood for shrimp, I opted for the New Orleans Pasta ($13), which ended up being an offering of overcooked shrimp, mildly smoked sausage, sautéed peppers & onions served over penne pasta with a disappointing alfredo sauce that was billed as "spicy" but was simply thin, greasy and tasted like it came from a jar. Since the Monte Cristo caught my eye the night before, I tried it for lunch the next day - mainly because I was a huge fan of the tasty and massive deep-fried sandwich feast Bennigan's offered for years; smoked ham and turkey with melty cheese, wrapped, battered and deep fried with fruit preserves and sprinkled with powdered sugar. Unfortunately, this version reminded me of the "Where's The Beef?" commercial - mine arrived with two thin slices of ham (maybe) and such a small portion of turkey I had to hunt to find it. While perfectly fried and served with the best broccoli & cheese casserole I've ever sampled, for $10 the lack of protein was pretty pitiful. All total, the service was spot-on - friendly, polite, engaged, but not hovering - but I could tell in the evening they were understaffed, much like all restaurants I visited in the Jacksonville area. And while the price points seemed spot-on for "scratch-made" fare, they're not really itching to impress diners with small portions and lazily-prepared plates. Maybe again, another day.... read more

I dined alone in the bar area. My server was really nice and I told her that I was eating very healthy. I didn't have any of the croissants so I can't speak about them. I ordered the 8pz salmon cooked as rare as they serve it. I ordered the broccoli and a side house salad with it. The salad came out and it was large and very good. II brought my own dressing so I can't speak on the dressings. When the salmon arrived, I noticed it was a strange looking color. The salmon was extremely disgusting. I would highly not order this! Probably the worst salmon I have ever had. The server asked me how it was and I was truthful with her about it. I ended up eating it because I was hungry and she came over and told me she didn't feel right about charging me full price and she gave me 25% off which I thought was really nice. Staff came up with BS excuses on seating Then directed seating We actually sat down where they instructed and a person who was in restroom...came to our seats and told us they were already sitting there. No tracking from hostess to waiter and they began to argue in front of us ! Seats by bar to left where we were instructed to sit as open... the bar floor smelled like rotten eggs and it was strong enough that another couple who came in behind us...commented on the hygiene and left... We left also... If the people there cant get it together and the smell is that strong... IM NEVER EATING THERE ! No hate here...just the truth... Another customer lost to poor quality and perception. I didn't know broccoli was brown, scratch meant from the bottom of a week old mashed potato container or medium rare meant absolutely no color. Our server was very nice but very much never at our table. I was hoping we'd actually see her considering we were one of 4 tables occupied by people. BUT the chicken tenders, shrimp (you get 4 BABY ones if you get the combo w grilled shrimp so don't waste your money) and carrots were absolutely BUSSIN. My Friends, My Mom, My Grandma, & I visited on Mother's Day. It was very Busy, & the Service was really good. The Server was Friendly. The best part though was two things. 1. The Chocolate Cake. 2. The Cleaning Staff. My Grandmother is new to using a Wheelchair. My Mom was trying to help, though she didn't have Any Experience with using a wheelchair. they couldn't get the break to unlock. They told me as they were trying to move the wheelchair out of the stall, it loudly squeaked, & it kept stopping. There were other women in the restroom who looked at them as if they were being purposefully rude, though not asking if they needed help. My Mom asked if anyone could help. They all looked at them like they had cursed at them. One woman who was fixing the paper towel dispenser stepped up to them, with a smile said she would like to help. My Mom explained what happened, & after examining the lock on the wheelchair, the Woman got something to fix the lock. My Mom was very grateful, & thanked her for helping. The Woman told her that it was the right thing to do, & every little bit helps. My Mom said her name was Terri. She was tall, dark hair wore up, black shirt, wearing jeans, & a green belt. I hope Cheddars knows how lucky they are to have someone like that. read more

Called on Sunday February 18th at 9:25pm. I was told by Sarah (answered the phone) that Omar (the manager) will not accept to-go orders over the phone or in person because the food won't be ready before they close. Which was at 10pm. (They did not ask me what I was ordering, I was simply denied service because they assumed it would take too long.) All I wanted was cheesecake but no one asked. They just told me no. This is extremely disappointing considering I eat lunch here ALL THE TIME! If you refuse service because of time restrictions then DO NOT advertise your restaurant being open until 10pm! I usually don't write bad reviews, but I waited over an hour to get a server over to our table. A lady finally came over and she wasn't even our server, but she took our order anyway. I've been to cheddar's many times before, and have always been able to substitute grilled shrimp for the coconut shrimp, so I tried to do the same thing, and the server seemed fine with the order, goes back to the kitchen and comes back and says "we can't substitute it." Shitty service and tilapia that was so garlicky it was inedible. The only good thing that came out of this was the mango sweet tea. I will not be returning to cheddar's for a very long time, until they can get things straightend out. read more

Not sure why there's low reviews on here. The food quality alone is worth 5 stars. The shrimp was excellent, chicken tenders and country fried steak were battered and fried to perfection! Chicken was moist. Our waitress took our order quickly and let us know that our shrimp was running behind a few minutes. A lot of other families were here so it's a tad on the loud side but we don't mind cause it helps drown out the noise from our 3 kiddos haha. We will be coming back. read more

My Brother, his wife, Our mom, & I visited on this passed Sunday. The Server, I can't remember her name. She was a tall, fit, smart, Friendly, blond lady. The Food was very Good, though it wasn't the Deciding factor for why we would visit again. It was the Help given with Our Mom. last week We feel that she had started to show signs of Alzheimer's. My Brother, & his wife left the Table first. Afterwards Mom visited the Facilities. When I walked into the Facilities, My Brothers wife was washing her hands. Mom was in the last stall as I could see her wheelchair wheels. When I finished, the wheelchair wheels weren't visible. I thought she had left with My Brothers wife. I left the Restaurant, & was checking my tire pressure when my cell phone rang. the ID said it was Mom calling me so I answered it. The voice on the other end was Not Mom though someone named Lambert. My Brother walked over to My car when I told him that Mom was in the Restaurant still. She couldn't get out of the Stall, needed help, & felt scared. I quickly went into the Restaurant where a lady wearing a Cheddars tshirt walked with me, explaining that she was who I talked with on Mom's phone, & what Mom told her. three other ladies in the restroom told me this lady kept Mom talking, patiently waiting to see if Mom could open the Door, or if it was Jammed. after Mom was out of the stall, she was worried about the bottom of her dress, & part of her shoes as there was barbecue sauce on it. this lady kept Mom calm, assuring her that it was ok, without asking helped me get the barbecue sauce off of her dress, & shoes. I tried to pay her for her kindness though she said every little bit helps, & for me to just help others when I can. I hope they Appreciate that lady. read more

Cheddars was great, I was so glad to hear that there is a Cheddars in Jacksonville, because the last one that I went to was in Nebraska. The service was beyond incredible, our waitress was so nice and friendly, and made sure that we were taken care of. I ordered the lemon pepper chicken with a side of carrots and broccoli. So, I used to be the biggest Cheddar's fan, in LOVE with their eclectic menu and good service. But on July 4, 2019 I had an AWFUL experience that made me leave an honest yet negative review on their survey as requested by the receipt. It was so bad in fact, the manager called and wanted to make things right so I was given a gift card to cover the bad time I'd had before. So when I came back I was anxious to start fresh. So when I returned my experience was much better. My server, Joshuwa, was very fun and friendly, food came out fast and it was fresh. Although I must advise to try to avoid sitting in the bar area because generally service is worse there. Don't hesitate to come here. I haven't had a bad thing in the menu. read more

After a long day going to the doctors, we stopped by for dinner. My husband had breaded shrimp with two sides and I had the ribeye with two sides. The food was spot on delicious.
