Before I even hired him. He went above and beyond to find me a floor distributor and supplies that were high quality to put up with heavy traffic and a big dog. Yet still affordable. He also made sure before I hired him that I understood his schedule as a single dad of two kids, taking them to school and in sports. Being in a budget his willingness to help me find supplies made scheduling was the least of my worries. Once the job started I changed my mind midway thru on stair nosing and base board. Knowing that I'd have to pay for the additional work to get it re-done and materials (I was OK with paying that). he didn't once complain or get upset with me If you're on a budget and have some flexibility on scheduling, this is a great contractor. He has many other talents other than flooring. If you need input on design or which looks best, he will not just tell you what you want to hear to make it easy. He has an eye for the bigger picture.

I hired this contractor for a full flooring repair and deeply regret the decision. The work was not…read moreperformed according to the agreed scope, and the condition of the floor has steadily worsened since they left. From the start, the project dragged on far longer than anticipated. The contractor typically showed up for only a few hours at a time, stretching what should have been a straightforward job into a much longer, drawn-out process. Ironically, the quickest and most consistent communication I received was when requests for additional money were sent. We explicitly discussed and agreed that a base coat leveler would be applied across the entire floor before adhesive. While this appears to have been done in the initial areas, it was clearly skipped in multiple sections toward the end of the project. As I've been forced to pull up loose boards myself, I've found little to no adhesive and no leveler in several areas. It has become apparent that Mr. Marsh decided to skip these crucial steps as soon as he realized nobody was watching. Large sections of flooring have come completely loose. Boards were improperly seated, butt joints were oversized, and some boards were installed too tightly, creating humps. The floor is now in worse condition than when the project started. I've spent evenings and weekends drilling relief holes, applying adhesive, and repairing areas just to make the floor serviceable -- work I already paid this contractor to do correctly the first time. I reached out professionally and in detail to document these issues and give the contractor an opportunity to respond or make things right. I never received a reply. Poor workmanship, incomplete scope, extended timelines, and zero accountability. I strongly recommend others look elsewhere.

After researching and reaching out to multiple companies, we decided to go with the folks at GGFKC. From their patience answering all our questions, to a thorough and transparent quoting process, to amazing follow up and follow THROUGH, working with the team at GGFKC was outstanding, start to finish. It's exceedingly rare to work with any sort of home repair company or contractor, and have them do exactly what they say they're going to do, exactly when they say they're going to do it. This company bucks that sad trend with flying colors! Our biggest challenge was going to be the window of opportunity to install the flooring at a time that worked for us, and ensuring they had an available crew at the right time. Greg and his team at GGF bent over backwards to make sure they could meet our timeframe, and then they hit the project out of the park! I say this because I had staples that were not seated(not sure correct word) then the indention filled before the last coat is applied. I had to have them come back to fix several areas that should have been done 1st time around. The crews were always running late and would text and say they would be late. Some of the crews were extremely loud carrying on personal conversations about issues with the company. Not great PR for the company. They can do better! I think they are just trying to run fast and get jobs done quick without taking time for the quality work that you are expecting with what you are paying. My floors do look wonderful though!

We were drawn to this company because they offered faster dry time and ability to stay in the basement while they worked. We should have done much more research. It has only been 2 1/2 years and the floors have non-removable stains, and plenty of scratches/dings. While the finish on our old floor stood up for a much longer period of time, I was totally disappointed with the continued poor performance of this floor work. And, please keep this in mind, upon leaving, SVB gave us an entire BONA kit for care of wood floors. About 8 months ago I called SVB and requested that they come out and give me some reason for the floor performance being so poor. They prodded around and said that the stains were not able to be lifted. AND THEY ARE VERY NOTICABLE. The representative asked what I used to clean the wood floors. I told him I was using the BONA products that had been left when the floor was completed. The representative said, that this product use would void my guarantee or any warranty. So now, 2 1/2 years down the road I have an expensive refinished floor that looks just about as bad as the old one. I do not recommend this dealer for floor finishing. They may have groovy equipment, but their process and support are sorely lacking.

I couldn't have been more pleased with the finished product, and they were able to match to my existing hardwoods at about 98% closeness. I was very happy. Fast-forward three years, I had a leak in my kitchen and hired a contractor to do a full kitchen remodel, including refinishing the entire first floor hardwoods. They did a poor job at refinishing the floors. There were cracks in the floors, the stain didn't match at all (despite the exact same stain color and brand), and there was pooling of stain everywhere. I actually texted Tyrer to come and give a second opinion on the bad work of the contractors I hired, which they gladly came to assess the situation. Twice. For 2 separate issues. I just thought all hardwood companies did about the same quality work - I was wrong. Tyrer even consulted for a friend who had similar issues with her floors. I've recommended Tyrer to all my friends, and if I'm not able to settle with my existing contractor, I am absolutely hiring them to redo the poor craftsmanship of the other company.
