We used American Driving Academy to supplement our driving with our son while he was learning to drive. He drove 18 hours with their instructors over the period of 5 months. We are very pleased with his instructor Dolly. She gave him all the necessary training and tools to be able to pass his behind-the-wheel exam on the first try! so these people came to offer drivers ed classes for my school last year and i guess theyve done it before too where you sign up as a student and stay after school to take the course, it was all going good everyone got their certificate to take the permit test, but when i went to the dmv they said that the school that gave me the certificate arent valid which they said they were and they even have dmv certified on their website and the papers so idk what theyre on but dont go with them also my instructor was ali he was pretty nice and chill and funny but he didnt really teach us that much we would just read and do tests andhe would go over answers but we all learned what we needed and passed so it was good read more

I found American Driving Academy on in the internet while searching for a driving school. So i called and booked my classes and Ali was my instructor. Ali is such a nice person, funny, very patient, explained to me over and over again everything i needed to know. And most of all built up the confidence i didnt have in me. He scheduled my appointment even thought i thought i wasn't ready. I passed my test from the first try, at the DMV Fullerton. I will give my honest review of this driving school. My son needs to take his test tomorrow, but he is completely discouraged by the instructor today. So here is the whole process. Over 6 months ago we went in to American Driving Academy. I met the instructor Xion. He quoted a price of $525 for 6 hours of behind the wheel driving and help with passing the initial written exam. The help passing the initial written exam was an old VHS video my son watched and to give my son the books and memorize the answers. Then Xion simply signed off on the paper my son needed to take the written exam. When my son passed the written (computer) portion, that was because my son studied for it. There was no real help. Next came the driving lessons, and I should have known based on the written test help how this was going to go. We started with 1 hour behind the wheel. We tried to set up a time, and Xion pushed back the time. We found this to be true for most meetings. My son went on the drive with Xion and after 45 minutes they were done. Now remember the goal was to drive for 60 minutes. When they came back my son said part of the driving experience was to pump Xion's gas at the gas station. Then Xion proceeded to say my son needs a lot of help, like an additional 6 hours for $500 more. I was like wait, hard to learn pumping gas. Anyways, I let that slide. The next 4 meetings were basically the same. They drive, and they stop somewhere. One time even going to Xion's house so he could get a drink. The whole time Xion telling me he has gotten better and is doing fine. Each time driving, the drive only lasted about 45-50 minutes. Finally we get to the last hour, the day before my son's driving test. I asked if Xion could just help him know the area for the DMV. Yea, Xion helped alright...he basically told my son he would fail the test the next day, but if his dad (me) paid him more he could show him the actual course and help him pass. Seriously, more money when you had my son pump gas, go to your house, and basically get shorted on the time. Look I see all the positive reviews, and maybe that is the case because the reviews came after the test was done and their kids passed the driving test. Maybe they had different instructors then my son. Whatever the case, I will not be sending my daughter to this "driving school". I put the quotations, because there is more asking for money then actual driving. I saw the run the errands post, and my guess is...same instructor. My son is completely discouraged now, and feels he is going to fail tomorrow. Its not the end of the world if he does fail, but my son based on today feels he will fail. If you are looking for someone to just go through the motions and sign some paperwork because your son or daughter can drive amazingly...then use this academy. But if they actually need help and advice, try somewhere else. My gut said not to go with this place, but we got a recommendation, so we did it. That was my bad for the choice. Ali was my very first driving instructor, and I couldn't be more satisfied and grateful that he was both my first and last. I started knowing absolutely nothing about driving, but Ali patiently and kindly walked me through every detail. Ali was great and accommodating! He met our daughter on a Sunday and the following Monday for her test. She used Ali's testing car (which was a newer model sedan) and he kindly waited 2 hours at the DMV after her one hour lesson Monday morning, which was over the allotted time we planned for our DMV appointment. Instructor ALI was not punctual, and not organized: 1st week, he called to cancel at last moment ; 2nd week, he called to cancel appt again; 4th week, appt time passed, thought he's late, I called and he said he couldn't make it!!!.... Other time, someone had to substitute for him! And other time, he called to cancel appt, reason: his car broke down!!! He didn't complete the driving hours he promised! My daughters took driving lessons with instructor Ali and both passed their permit and license tests the first time. Ali was very patient with my girls and also flexible with their busy schedules. He also picked them up from our home for each of their training sessions and drove them to the DMV for testing which was convenient for me since I too have a busy schedule. Although Ali also has a very busy schedule being in high demand, he remained flexible and made it easy for us to schedule appointments with him. I strongly recommend this business!!! read more

My son passed on the first try. With the combination of American drive school and myself we allowed my son the privilege to earn his drivers license. Terrible experience! I do not recommend this place at all. I was very disappointed. Spent most of the time driving the instructor around to run his errands. I hated spending time parked waiting for Ali(instructor) while he was in bank,grocery shopping or even stopping at his apartment. Another thing I really disliked was that he was mostly on his phone. A lot of times it was very distracting! It also showed that he wasn't giving me his full attention to teaching me how to properly drive. He did NOT work around my schedule. A couple times he did send his wife Dali who was very nice and much better instructor...but she mentioned she does not usually work. So I was stuck with her husband who was absolutely no help. I failed my behind the wheel exam twice! I was promised 12 hours of driving. I drove about 10 hours ,probably a lot less with all the stops we had to make. Ali also always dropped me off early..so it was never even whole hour of driving. Do not waste your money on this business. Not worth it! read more
