One a couple shirts, buttons fell off after only a few washes. On another shirt, the button was sewn on securely, but incorrectly. That's fine, in that you'd never really notice unless looking closely, but it speaks to the inconsistency and lack of quality control. A lot of the negative reviews are very negative due to quality or service issues. I think, if you keep in mind that you're getting mediocre quality and mediocre service, you can get very good deals here, but you have to understand that quality and service are both going to be hit or miss.

The staff is always fairly friendly, but due to the amount of foot traffic the merchandise is always a mess and styles and sizes are all over the place. Because of the plummeting popularity of the brand itself (I'm not trying to dump on the gap, I dig this brand. They make good pants!) the prices are usually discounted by at least 40-50 %. It's a laid back atmosphere and easy navigate, plus their discount section is huge due to the small size of this location itself. I've been in a few times since it's opened and I've never been disappointed. I happened by here today with one of my friends so we could check out the sales. I have to say, I was even more impressed than usual. Service is always great, but even with a store crowded with throngs of bargain hunters, we both received excellent service. The salespeople were extremely helpful despite the crowd. Whenever a store has a sale on, I always feel like I'm going to end up picking through the remnant pieces of clothing that no one else wants, however, today, that was not the case...the sale prices were amazing and the selection was ridiculous. We had a great time shopping and literally had to stop ourselves from buying more than we did. Overall, they carry a great selection of office attire, and great weekend attire as well. Will definitely be going back...there's a reason this place is one of my favourite shopping spots.

The manager I spoke to certainly didn't look too pleased that I was exchanging an item instead of purchasing something, however, she made an exception and allowed me to exchange the shirt for the current selling price ($25 dollars less than original value). I quickly picked out something and paid $8 more. Another sales person helped me at the cashier who was friendlier than the Manager. She wrapped the new shirt up nicely and apologized they couldn't do something more. Overall, a pleasant experience at Ann Taylor where you'll receive A-OK service!

They also expect their workers to do an unfair amount of work for minimum wage. Theft and prevention, store cleanliness, PERFECT customer service, up selling, and adapting to the many technical issues they face year round is just a small glimpse of what is expected from a part-time worker. The only good things that came out of my entire year and five months that I worked there was the few friends I managed to make (which was nearly impossible due to the high turnover rate) the staff couldn't brainwash who were actually pretty solid, and a free green water bottle they gave me as a prize during Christmas time. (Their Christmas bonuses are convoluted and are only accessible to you if you are one of the few full timers they've had on staff for years or they decide they like you enough to give you enough hours to easily achieve this goal). Save yourself the trouble and work anywhere else. And if you care about the morality of where you spend your money? Do not shop here. The place is also extremely dusty and their clothes aren't nice enough for how much they charge customers (nearly everything that has any amount of cotton in it shrinks two sizes).This is by far the worst location in this area. The person helping me though said they were getting more selection in soon. Good to know, however...after leaving here I went a few doors down to Showroom where they already had the new blazers in. Why did Showroom have them already and the brand's own store didn't? Odd. The only other slightly annoying thing about this store was that I had to leave my tea at the counter. Their phone skills could be better, but other than that the store is clean and the staff is helpful.
