Very disappointing experience. I placed my canvas order only yesterday afternoon , and by this…read moremorning it was already "finished." When I saw the work, I was shocked by how sloppy, rushed, and low quality it looked. This was not professional work and not something any business should hand to a customer. I explained that I was unhappy with the quality and asked for my money back because I could not use this canvas for my client. Instead of trying to fix the problem, they refused and kept saying, "This is how we do it," and that they already spent time, labor, and materials on it. They acted like there was nothing wrong with the work at all. What made the experience even worse was the attitude and disrespect. Instead of helping or apologizing, I was told to leave the store. I also took photos of the canvas so people can judge the quality for themselves. I would not recommend this place if you expect professionalism, quality workmanship, or respectful customer service.

"Paint it! Paint it black!!!"…read more My go to local small art supply, art gallery, art happenings and creative vibes stores. Carter Sexton Artist Materials is located in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley within the Valley Village/Studio City area and resides on Laurel Canyon Boulevard/just a beat down from Chandler Blvd and the Laurel Canyon Metro Station for the Orange (aka G) line. It's got lots of fun nooks and crannies with great materials, supplies, service and sales (including 40% off, clearance items and more). It was easy for me to follow a lot of their played out pricing for canvas (10 years in retail, though it's been almost 10 years since I walked away from it and yet still retain so much lol). I ventured into the "Come (On) In" area and discovered some complimentary artist guides, incredible artwork and extra items I was seeking for a sketching event I hosted over the weekend. Love coming in on Saturdays, though it's been several months since I was last in, hoping to change that, check out more of their events, including some great some shows this holiday season like their Medley. I don't have much to submit by their deadline, but highly recommend you do if you're an artist, aspiring artist or creative. They definitely are neighborhood feel with some cool regulars. Caught some warming interactions and references to Cheers (the 80s to early 90s series) between the staff and a really nice returning customer. I'm not sure if Kelli was there when I stopped in, but I've had some greatest response with her in the past online when inquire about things. Everyone is super knowledgeable, mindful and respectful. Ready to assist, but also let you take your time exploring and feeling out all they have to offer. Street parking primarily with a 1hour limit from 8am to 6pm. Some limited spaces in their back alley parking, that I'm sure is super great for their staff/ the Carter Sexton family. Its first come first serve, but you might get lucky. Open from 10am to 6pm Monday through Saturday weekly with some variations for holidays. A must whether a local, passing through or seeking out a small biz to support that does great things for the area, and showcasing a spotlights artists of all walks of lives and ages. Even Bob Ross on display wants you to check out this great supportive Art spot. "We don't make mistakes, just happy little accidents."

They were instrumental in the supply and, I think, the consultation/safety. If you have questions on your project, that's what they do...just make sure to give some detail (medium, wearable, etc.). I could walk around for hours here (probably did on my first visit) to view not only all the supplies but distracted by floor/wall adorned decorations they created and a dedicated customer display. Posted warning at the entrance of no children of a certain age and also an age limit to purchase. Attended a very cool seminar presented by Glen (45+ years experience) and Laura (very detailed and cautious). Both had so many tips and tricks with live demonstrations...I should have brought a notepad; others were much more proficient. Truly inspirational place and hub for our projects. Some of the items are exclusively sold at Reynolds Advanced Materials; they even have their own crafted stuff that are far superior in quality and inexpensive. Charming and creative, you'll be sure to find all your necessary materials here. They are very well stocked with everything you can think off. Good selection, highly recommend. I find the value is in their quality goods and services.

Currently they have Halloween and fall stuff out. A bit early don't you think? lol I guess it's never too early to prepare for holiday decorating. Michael's has everything home decor, baking, knitting and more ... I stopped by to get a gift for my niece from the art department and got her a few things ha Art related such as crayons, markers, paper, notebooks. Some were on sale some regular price. I miss the coupons they used to offer on one item such as 40% off or so. Now if it's on sale it's on sale the rest is regular price and let me tell you the prices are higher compared to Amazon or other stores. Customer service is ok depends on the employee. There are lots of intricate things that are involved in getting coupons off of my phone and into the system and it is never something I can understand so every single time I have to wait for the one employee that is trying to help the six or seven self check out that people don't want in the first place and it's just becoming too much of a hassle. The staff are always friendly and helpful but they're just simply isn't enough of them. Every single time I go there I stand in line and I say that I want to wait for a human and I offer people behind me to go ahead of me to use the self check and none of them want to. They want the human interaction as well. I really think Michaels is taking a misstep with this direction especially if they are going to continue to have the coupons be so difficult to get off of your phone. I can get the paint cheaper to begin with off of Amazon but I enjoyed the human interaction. Every single time I have gone in recently I have to wait between 10 and 15 minutes to wait for the one employee that is overwhelmed with having to help every single person at every single self check. And this is 10 or 15 minutes waiting if you are at the front of the line. This has been more than one location as well. This is the same for The Studio City location and the one in Encino. It's a shame but I will enjoy the convenience of ordering online. Take care Michaels it's been great.
