I went into Kings Beads today intending to purchase several loose gemstones. While browsing, I found a piece of sunstone that was clearly marked $7 each. I brought that stone and a few others to the counter and asked what the total would be. When the employee told me the sunstone was actually supposed to cost more, he said it had been marked incorrectly and told me, essentially, that he would honor the $7 price "this time," but that he had just changed the price and it would cost more next time. I said okay and decided I would purchase the sunstone. However, when he realized I no longer wanted to purchase the other stones, his attitude completely changed. He told me that he was no longer going to give me the sunstone for the price it was listed at. I asked him directly, "So you're not going to sell it to me for the listed price?" and he said no. I told him that I thought that was shitty business practice, and his response was completely unacceptable. He told me "fuck you," "get out," and "go fuck yourself." He then continued yelling at me and shooed me out of the store. Regardless of a pricing mistake, there is absolutely no excuse for speaking to a customer that way. If the price was genuinely listed incorrectly, I understand that mistakes happen, but the situation could have been handled professionally. Instead, I was verbally abused and kicked out simply because I questioned the pricing and decided not to purchase the other items. I will not be returning to Kings Beads, and based on this experience, I would strongly recommend thinking twice before spending your money here. Edit- I just learned what took place is illegal. I will be filing complaints with the La county DCBA. Truly unfortunate as they did have some nice things and I may have been a repeat customer had this not occurred. As a business owner myself, I'll let you guys know that treating a customer with respect and overcorrecting your own mistakes instead of abusing a customer over them will always end better. read more

I was so excited when I first stepped into this store, especially because the spools of chains are so fun to look though, and I was there to get a bunch of custom necklaces to layer since you can choose the length. The women behind the counter scowled as I walked in, and as I was browsing she would periodically yell loudly and impatiently "any questions???" making it a very unpleasant experience to shop here. I clearly wanted help with something so she sauntered over to me, I would ask her about the chains, and when I would hesitate for 2 seconds to make up my mind about something, she would loudly scoff, roll her eyes, and walk off abruptly as she said "let me know when you're ready." Is what she considers customer service? Maybe she should change to online only if she very clearly hates what she is doing. She removed all the joy out of this experience. THEN... I ended up buying 4 necklaces, and it was $250 ?!?!?!?!?!? She very clearly made up the prices as I asked her. The way it works is you tell her the number on the spool, then she tells you a price (after she sums you up). SCAM. I'm still thinking about my bad experience here and about how gauged and exploited I feel. It's too bad, I was about to tell all of my friends with daughters at my kids school to come here, instead I'm angrily writing a review, which I felt I HAD to do in order to warn others and SAVE them from coming here. read more

Maybe if you don't care about money. The place was muggy, no air conditioning, not even a fan around. The prices are extremely high and not clearly marked on the stuff you are going buy. There are signs saying 30% off throughout the store but when you pay, you cannot see what he is ringing up and at the end you pay a lot and some of the prices don't match what you think you bought. The owner of King's Beads attached an enhancer to a fossilized Nautilus I selected from her Bead Shop; I am impressed the owner also repaired my Sheppard hook earrings attaching one beautiful pearl to each earring (unfortunately, I lost one of the earrings while exploring San Francisco a few days ago! Doh!). I also purchased a long strand of baroque pearls from the owner for $60.00 which is a fantastic price for baroque sea pearls! After repairing my jewelry, the owner suggested I visit King's Beads at the San Mateo County Event Center; I attended the event on July 6-8 2012 and I was satisfied attending "My Favorite Bead Show." Con artists! One item didn't have a price on it so they made up a price at checkout that is 5x that of any other supply store in LA. The materials for chains here are incredibly cheap and insanely overpriced. I asked the sales associate if the chains are non tarnish and she they they will tarnish but it's "okay because real gold also tarnishes." Literally the most insane lie I've ever heard in my life. Bad service is one thing. Being verbally assaulted and followed outside the store by the employee calling me a fa**it and threatening to attack me is another. I went in there looking for a screw spike I had lost and to see if they had one. After trying to sell me an item that wasn't a screw the guy working said what I was looking for didn't exist. I laughed and said it does, I'm holding one and then left. He followed my outside screaming at me, calling me a fa**it and other obscene words. It was beyond frightening and totally uncalled for. This place needs to fire the man that was working on Oct 11th at 5:15 pm. He is scary and emotionally unstable. I never made fun of you.
