I feel so bad for everyone who works here and for the customers who come in. They're constantly short staffed, the staff that is there, is visibly stressed the eff out due to the lack of staffing. There's virtually no employees on the floor to help so, myself and multiple other customers have to stand in line to ask our simple little questions that stress management out. I mean straight up stressed out, sweating, heavy breathing, like they're having an anxiety attack. This is all corporates fault really. Understaffing their stores is not helpful to anyone. I used to work at a big name art supply store, we were always fully staffed. The days we weren't, were a nightmare. Michaels needs to do better by their employees. I bought a bunch of yarn and to be honest, I'm just going to return it. I don't feel it's worth it to shop here anymore. I don't want my money going towards a corporate entity that obviously doesnt care about its employees or its customers. Customer service starts with content employees. Come on Michaels. I usually visit Michael's store during holiday times. This store has a variety selection of items such as frames, sewing merchandise, knitting merchandise. This store usually has great sales on the seasonal items. Depending on the time you visit this store has 40% to 50% sale. The merchandise is reasonably priced and can be cheaper compared to similar stores. Recently, they have added self checkouts. They have cashiers helping too, but it's mostly self check out. Employees are nice and friendly. No complaints about the customer service. For parking, this location has plenty of parking space shared with other stores. read more

Love love love coming to see all of the seasonal decor, diy projects and everything in between! I scored 2 beautiful paintings yesterday, a stand up easel to display one of the paintings, and a pumpkin pillow! He was too cute to resist. Thank god my sister was with me or I would have bought the whole store. They have the best candles right now too. All of their Halloween and fall items are precious. I am going to host a haunted house paint night (they are selling so many) prices are always the best here! You can check yourself out or they have a cashier to assist you. I did ask for help locating a few items. Beyond happy with all of my purchases for $80!!! Then paintings were marked down from $50 to $10 a piece! Large parking lot, easy to navigate their store. This was a very unsettling experience from the customers point of view. No one should ever feel like this and I'm sorry that this happened to so many other people when returning at this location. Today I walked into the store for a return around 8pm. I had some items with a receipt & quite a few without one. I said it's fine they could look it up on my Michaels card. I did not want to drive all the way back home for something they do within the store. Walked in around 8:00pm Levi was kind and was helping the new employee while doing my return. Once we got to my pink lights that is when things got really weird. Some guy with no name jumps right into the convo talking sarcastically, as if he's being nice. And without finding out what the real issue was, he takes one look at my receipt and starts assuming that one item was stolen automatically. He didn't say those exact words, but body language and eye rolling and whispering behind the counter mean while aggressively pushing us out the door to the Glendale location where we first purchased the item was a bit much. I did not want to cause a scene so we kindly left. He assumed that the Glendale location didn't scan the item when I had 2 receipts. There's some weird technical issue when you price adjust. Be careful if you come back to return the item. When the price has already been adjusted there's a weird alert that says that the item has already been returned. I did not figure that out until I left the store. I called the store to inform the no tag guy but who ever picked up the phone right away said hold please and left us on hold for a while. I then called with my husband's phone and the same thing, this time left us on hold for 18 minutes and hung up right when they closed. What kind of ridiculous customer service is this. After this review I will be reaching out to corporate. There's no reason why we are treated with smiles when purchasing, but when it comes to returning, It's like pulling teeth. If we're in the timeframe of the return, then there should be a return. If your employees cant handle it, then change the policy instead of making customers feel incompetent. read more

Michaels - How ridiculous to be on hold for 18 minutes no answer and they hang up the phone - Arts & Crafts Near Me - Burbank, California

I had an extremely upsetting experience at this Michael's location due to an employee named Karina. During my visit this month, she was dismissive and spoke to me in a condescending manner when I asked a basic question. The situation escalated when Karina called me "white trash." This comment was completely unprovoked, deeply offensive, and entirely unacceptable in any customer service setting. I did not raise my voice or act disrespectfully at any point. Being insulted with a derogatory term by an employee is not only unprofessional but reflects a serious failure to uphold Michael's standards for respectful and inclusive customer service. I left the store shocked and upset and will not return to this location unless this behavior is addressed by management. I strongly encourage store leadership to review this incident and take appropriate action. read more

Lemax Spooky Town: Looks amazing... for exactly 6 days Spooky Town? More like Spooky Letdown. These things look incredible on the shelf--mini haunted houses, creepy clowns, glowing eyeballs, the whole vibe. I brought one home and proudly set it up... it lit up, it made noises, it was perfect. Then a week later--poof. The lights flickered like a dying flashlight, the sounds faded into ghostly whispers, and now it just sits there looking haunted in a very real way. Still spooky... just unintentionally. Great for impressing guests for a weekend. After that? It becomes haunted by the ghost of your receipt. read more

My rating is entirely based on the yarn section. I was really hoping with the demise of Joann's and Michael's Purchase of the Joann's IP, that we would see much more. It's very disappointing so far. I really miss Joann's, as do al the crocheters and knitters I know personally. Hoping that things will change. No one in either of my nearby locations even knows anything about Big Twist and other yarns. I've been told, they are discontinued or they're not coming to the store, only online OR that they're not coming for another year.... I am hoping this changes. Also, Joann's had such good coupons! ** Dogs Welcome ** ** on leash ** I called first to make sure this location was still Dog friendly. The team member I spoke to said Yes we are Dog friendly in fact we are SUPER Dog friendly. Which is music to my ears as they say. The store was crowded but manageable for a Sunday afternoon around 1pm. Store was clean and organized for December right before Christmas. The team member I spoke to to find something was very helpful. They have self service check out terminals which made it faster. User error on my part I entered coupon code manually but a team member said you need to scan it to make it work. We parked as far away as possible as it is safer and easier to get Betty out/ in of vehicle. The whole parking lot was full except for a few spots facing side of West Elm. Fine by me to walk a bit to not hassle with parking. There is a long walkway bordered on right side (as you are headed to Michael's) with gravel and plants. Perfect spot to potty you furkid before going into Michael's. (See attached photo). The last time I bought ribbon it was $1.79 ha now it is $4.99. BUT sign up for Michael's emails/ texts to receive coupon codes like 30% off a regular priced item. Or you can google. Definitely recommend this location and we will be back. read more

Michaels is my go to store for custom framing and general picture frames. The prices are reasonable and they always been able to get the framing done within a reasonable time. I'm not much of an arts and crafts guy but they seem to have a large selection of decorations and they always dedicate a large space for the current season. I recommend you know what you're looking for before coming to the store because it's nearly impossible to find an employee on the floor for any assistance. They always seem to be understaffed and there is usually a long line at checkout. The aisles can get a little clustered and it's not the easiest store to find what you need. Five stars for the framing department and three stars for everything else. read more

This was my first visit to this location. I had a great walk through the store very organized and most people were very polite. I headed for framing since I wanted to frame one of the prints I got at the 626 night market. Usually at Michaels there is a bell at the front and there wasn't so I raised my voice and asked if anyone was home so they could hear me in the back. This nice young lady comes out and is about to help me. Then this "manager" named Louis (not sure on spelling) comes out yelling 'next time use the damn button' or something along those lines. This shocked me and appalled me, I can't fathom the need to act that way, especially in a professional environment. To make matters worse, and this really isn't my business but whatever, the young lady seemed so timid in his presence almost like she was afraid of him. Hope she will be ok. My fiancée and I came to this Michael's to look at things for our wedding. This location also has free wifi, there was notice in the front entrance about it. The first thing we went to look at was the flowers and vase for them. This Michael's was fully stocked when we came and the whole store was nicely organized. The flowers we saw here was nice and the table numbers with their stands. They also had a lot of helium tank for balloons if you're looking for that. It's self checkout now. There's only one register with a person and they will only help you if you pay cash and they are very unfriendly , abandoned by management who is still not hiring staff for this store . The store is mysteriously devoid of employees but if you are resourceful you can find cool things, especially go when they have 50% of sales, also ALWAYS use your Michaels coupon , go to google search on your phone and type michaels coupon and have that ready for check out. This place is just bizarre--I've never seen anything like it: not a single employee could be found. I walked around with dozens of customers, looking for a person to help me, for over 30 minutes. There was no one up at the cashiers....! They were self-check-out. Finally I found where the safety pins should be, and they were wiped out. Again, no one to ask whether there might be a supply in back. That's the last time for me! I know of other Michaels where they actually have people in the store to help you. read more

Manager named "Lou" was VERY rude & hostile when I was trying to make a return. I had no receipt but I put in my number so I figured they could find my order. The product didn't have a barcode @ point of sale but they sold it to me anyway. Since it didn't have a barcode she refused to return my money to me. I see why this location just has a 3-star rating and why Aaron Brothers and Hobby Lobby have higher ratings. I hardly come here but when I do it is always packed and the line to check out is long. This is a popular store for crafters. The shelves are labeled unlike another craft store in town, Hobby Lobby. Parking is fine in the Empire Center. There are pretty much always spots open though so that's good. The reason for the two stars is because I really have had better at other Michaels stores and across the Empire Center parking lot at Aaron Brothers. Michael's just doesn't cater to what I usually want, framing supplies. They have frames and framing materials in the back by their custom framing section, but you have to ask for assistance to see the mat boards, which are in their back room. I usually purchase mat boards at Aaron Brothers but the last time I was in there they didn't have the color I wanted, a pale yellow cream. So, I tried Michael's. The lady at the custom framing counter let us into the back to view the mat boards, but she appeared in such a rushed mood that we hurried up to pick a color so we could stop bothering her by wanting to see them. She kept tapping her fingers on something rather hard and quickly the entire time, sending us a clear message to grab a color and go. We asked why they were in the back room and she said they would get destroyed if they were out in the front. At first I thought, great, they will be cleaner and less beat up in the back. Big upon inspecting them, we realized they were mostly bad! Worse than I had ever seen out in the front at Aaron Brothers or Hobby Lobby. So I just pointed to a couple of decent looking ones and told her I wanted those. She carried them to the counter and then realized one had a huge cut about 25" long down it. She offered $2 off but I asked for a new one. She found a better one and then charged me $35.02, a huge amount of money for two May boards! They wouldn't take the 40% off one item coupon for a mat board purchase so I asked if I could just buy one of them. She then charged me $17.51 for one but after I paid my boyfriend noticed huge dark fingerprints on all four edges about a few inches in on the colored side! I never even touched the board. I immediately returned it and went across the street to Aaron Brothers, used a coupon and spent $23 and got two mats. Next day I went to Hobby Lobby, used a coupon and spent $7.87 and got one mat. What's the moral of the story? Go to Hobby Lobby for mat boards. They are cleaner, easier to get to, and less than half the price of the mat boards at Michaels! read more

This store was one of a few Michael's stores that carried the boho chic weekly white board planner. The planner as shown online should have included a marker/eraser combo and also a couple of cute succulent themed magnets. I purchased online and my oldest kiddo stopped by for pickup and drove the purchase home during winter break. This was a Christmas gift for my youngest daughter and couldn't wait to see it. Unfortunately the packaging had been opened and the magnets had been stolen. The store itself always pretty much has what you're looking for on any given day or project and it always amazes me how busy they generally tend to stay and that has NOT changed one bit as people are stuck at home. Thus, the verdict: this store is pretty standard to all the other stores. lol! But like all other Michaels stores, the line at check out is usually long and/or slow. I'm not sure why this is (and I think this is the same for every craft store...), but that's just the fact of the matter. I usually have good service when it's finally my turn in line though. I without fail always use a coupon when i come here. You can pull up a coupon through your phone and scan it at the register. There's usually a 40% off 1 regular priced item and 20% total purchase coupons, etc. I try to use as many as possible when I go. read more

My review is on custom framing area. Before Aaron brothers, I was used to take it this place. My artwork is textile. That means the person who is behind claiming to be framer hast to know more than just framing a picture , however this particular location does not know how to do other than basic stuff. They destroyed my art work . It was supposed to be Christmas gift . When I went to pick up, the person instead of admitting that it's not correct she start explaining how this art was done wrong that's why it shows uneven. Yes they refunded to me however it's already damaged and I don't know how am I going to fix it by Christmas. If you want something and you know that's the one and only piece please do not take to this location. Nobody likes to take responsibility of their awful work or even have a professional ones behind the counter to do the proper framing. read more

I always love the items in Michael's but this review is for their staff during my visit. I was looking for a darker shade of easel, so I went through the easels on the shelf. However, it was stacked right next to pillows, so every time I pulled an easel, the pillows fell. I kept stacking it back but you can tell, I was struggling. During my struggle, about 4 -5 staff members passed by where I was. Not one single staff asked if I needed help, even when the pillow was falling and my hands were full holding the easels right when they were passing by. It was very poor customer service. This location has more of a selection than some of the others. I think the one on Ventura Blvd. is just as large as this location, opposed to the one in Granada Hills. They do have a rather large selection of crafts, and found what I needed without the assistance of employees, because help is like the desert there... no one to be found. You know when someone tries to sign you up for their loyalty program and you have to repeat your email/other info about yourself out loud and it's kind of a tedious process? When I came here, I was pleasantly surprised that when they signed me up, they had me write all my info on a sticky note instead! It took less time and confusion for both of us and I really appreciated it -- so smart! Then they ripped it up and threw it away so I knew my information was disposed of. Popped in to get a picture frame. But I had trouble finding the size I needed. So I waited to speak with the custom frames desk in the back. One guy had no idea how to help me so I had to wait for the lady who was speaking with others. Then she had no idea how to help me. So I just ended up picking something cheap around the right size out and bought that. It was the wrong size and I had to return it anyways. If you are into arts & crafts, you can't beat this store. One of the biggest Michaels I've ever seen. They have pretty much anything you might need for your artistic project, all sorts of painting accessories, all kinds of papers, frames, knitting and crochet, candles, ribbons, even if you are into making sculptures they got you covered. They also have really neat party supplies. Came here on a sunday afternoon and this place was packed, check-out took a while, but nothing unreasonable. The location is also good, since there are a bunch of other cool stores next door, including Best Buy, Target, Marshalls, Staples, even an Walmart. read more

It's a huge store but always short of employees to help you find what you need. Employees all seem uninterested in their job and they can't ever help you find anything on the floor. Then 2 or 3 hours later, they tell us it's still not ready and they are super rude. How long can it possibly take? Whoever manages this store needs to get it together. Ugh... The more I come here the more I regret it. Located in the EMPIRE CENTER, trying to funnel yourself into this parking nightmare is the first set back. There's tons of parking, But you'll never find a close spot to Michael's, Target or Best Buy. It's a hit or miss if you get a shopping cart. So my advice is, if you see one in the parking lot, grab it. It really seems like they keep adding more and more crap, and the aisles are getting narrower and narrower. There's a ton of aisle displays and it seems one cannot get down an aisle anymore without knocking something off the shelf. Frustrating! I hate the design layout. It's segmented in odd ways which don't make it easy to just peruse every aisle. Inevitably I end up back tracking somewhere because I missed the one aisle I needed to find. I visited after thanksgiving so the store was pretty picked through, But there were some good deals. Ultimately I did not find what I was looking for and continued my search for the perfect ornaments. I do like that they re organized the cashiers. Now it's one (long and slow) line, But at least you don't get in the one line someone decides they're going to pay with change and have multiple coupons, (usually expired.) Sigh. You are funneled through a bunch of low cost last minute crap. They're gonna get that extra dollar from you one way or another. Lol! Overall I would choose to go to Hobby Lobby over Michael's. They carry just about the same stuff, but Michael's is much more cluttered and chaotic. And the parking is way easier. Not my favorite, But I still find myself in this store a few times a year. The Arts and Crafts world is alive and well at Michael's, thank goodness. With all of the Aaron Brothers stores shutting down and being swallowed up by Michaels, I was afraid we were going to lose some expertise with customer service. Fortunately it still exists. This particular location helped me with some framing needs. They were very professional, friendly and well equipped. In addition to that, Michael's has so much crazy, fun and interesting stuff that you can literally spend a couple of hours walking the aisles.
