Here is where I went a little nuts, 3 weeks for delivery because they only had 1 delivery man and they would leave outside because he had no help. Got an AMAZING deal on a sectional from American Freight. While looking at Art Van, Gardner White and Value City, the same couch was priced anywhere from $1,000 to 1,400. We got it from American Freight for only $800. The salesman at the store was incredibly nice/borderline too nice. He didn't really give me and Jacob much time to look on our own and instead wanted to explain every couch to us. Whatever, it wasn't horrible. The only problem with this place is their delivery system. Or lack thereof. We set up delivery for 5pm. They didn't show up until 9:45 pm. Honestly. Seriously. For real. After reading other reviews on Google, their delivery trucks just seem to run that way. So that really sucked. But they set up the couch quickly and gtfo of my house, so that's what mattered. Great price on furniture if you don't mind going into a warehouse to look at items instead of a fancy showroom. The savings are there. read more

Devon (worker) and this company are by far the worst people ever. Spent around $5000 on furniture back in August and STILL my items have not been delivered as promised (again and again). Its funny Devon, you claim you "made a deal" so that negates me getting my furniture on time (its been over 3 mths)? That makes it okay for all the damage in my town house which was professionally painted to get damage during delivery of items that did get sent?? Its sad that I came in person back in August and you give me your personal email address and word that this damage would be compensated for. How many phone calls were made to you? When is your "supervisor" coming since you can't deal with this. To my worst enemy, I will never recommend this pathetic example of a furniture store or their staff that do nothing but take money and deliver false promises. A scratch and dent dresser (thanks), damaged walls (thanks), constant run around and refusal of a refund because its hard to calculate. As I contemplate legal action..or better yet, the method of legal action best to get my money and compensation for all damages and added problems, I urge others to not be fooled but this company with ZERO customer service. American Freight in Livonia, MI gets a solid 4 stars. I got a queen sized mattress and box spring for about $740.00 with about $60.00 to deliver it two days after I ordered it. Day of delivery, they came between 12pm and 4pm, arriving at about 2pm. The drivers called me when they were on the way to confirm delivery. They delivered the bed quickly, they were in and out and now I have a nice comfortable bed as I desired. I did a little shopping before I chose to go back to American Freight, but I found the prices they offer are pretty good compared to Art Van. The only reason that I did not give them a full 5/5 stars, is simply for the location and presentation of the show room. All of their sales are final. The show room has a fair selection of merchandise, but they have limited amount of people working. They also use a third party company to make deliveries. It's not bad, it's a good deal, but it's not the flashy newest show room that you would get from a big box store, but I am alright with that for the money that I saved. I did business with the American Freight location in Monroe, MI and I would do business with this location again in the future. read more

I can honestly say I will never go to Art Van when this place exists! I had a horrible experience with AV and was jaded by the shopping process. I was asked as I walked in the door if anyone could assist me. Very pleasant staff. American Freight was able to brighten up my living room with a affordable very comfortable recliner sofa and love seat. Have recommended them to everyone I can. Delivery was cash and the guys couldn't have been nicer. Thanks again for making the shopping experience pleasurable again. read more

i paid cash for my furniture the early part of the week, and they promised to delivery my furniture first thing that weekend. i received a call form their contracted delivery service asking me if they could delivery after 9:30pm. i immediately thought this was a joke! i called the saleman joel that assisted me and he said they told him i had canceled my delivery. why would i do that, when i paid you people close to $2,000 for my furniture. they never offered any compensation or anything for this mishaps. i will never go back to american freight company for anything else. now i see why consumers go to art van and gardnerwhite - for quality customer service and customer care to the consumers. single working mother read more

I came here after hearing they had affordable prices to furnish my new apartment. I walked around for 10 minutes and was not offered any form of help or greeted. I'm 30, but I tend to look verryy young. I hate to assume this had something to do with it, but I'm sure they assumed I wasn't worth their time and just a kid lolly gagging around. I assume this because a couple walked in AFTER I had been browsing for several minutes and was offered help immediately. I had to walk up to the counter on my own to ask questions. When I asked for a brochure or lay away policy the guy laughed in my face. Basically saying they don't have those. He proceeded to verbally tell me the policy, which sounds like crap. Basically you pay on an item that they DO NOT reserve for you and can be sold at any minute. Once you've paid the amount in full IF the item is still available you have access, otherwise you have to transfer that credit to another set. So you're not laying away anything, you're handing them money. After his spill he goes, so do you want to buy today. I was not given ANY product knowledge or customer service so I decided to do more research. Upon coming home I see across the board this place gets poor reviews for customer service. Not a risk I'm willing to take with my money. My overall experience was unpleasant and I felt unwelcome as a customer. Will search elsewhere. read more

My roommate was called at 9am to let him know the mattress he bought the day before would be delivered. I got home at 645pm and it still was not there. We called and the women who answered the phone could not give us a time frame for delivery. When I called, she asked where we were located and what out cross roads were. The driver had not even been loaded with the mattress yet. She said he was getting loaded and woukd be to our house shortly. We live less than ten minutes away. At 8pm we called back and again we were told they couldn't give us a time frame but the mattress was in a truck. 9:30pm rolls around, no mattress. I went to bed thinking that they were obviously not coming. At 10:50pm the phone rings and the driver says he will be to our house in ten minutes. What kind of company can not give you a time frame, and also delivers a mattress to someone's house at 11pm?? We were charged $55.00 cash for the delivery. Will not to business here again. read more

I bought a mattress from Livonia 6 months ago and it is still alright (memory foam). Buying mattresses is the only thing I would recommend. But, the ann arbor location is terrible. Go anywhere else if you can. 10% more money is definately worth it. The piece of mind, the knowledge your money isn't going to a madoff type character. This report is extremely accurate.
