I just took a chalk painting class last night. I brought in an unused, ugly piece of furniture in and after 3 hours of instruction (& fun), I walked out with a finished pretty piece of usable furniture! The instructor was great- very patient, quick to lend a hand & showed us some great techniques on how to use chalk paint. We all left excited to try it on our own! read more

I bought two pieces of furniture and had one custom painted in another color. The end products are okay, probably could have painted them myself and had the same results for less money. My main complaint is that all was pleasant before the purchase, and once we were talking about the painting and pick up, service was terrible. I felt like I was putting them out when I went to pick up the pieces (picked up at two different times, first piece of furniture pretty immediately after purchase and second piece once painting was done). I was given a three-week estimate for the painting and it was five weeks until completion. No big deal, but then pick up was a chore. I scheduled pick up, but when my husband and I went, the gentleman there didn't seem to know we were coming and was really gruff and annoyed, and didn't hide it well. i wouldn't shop here again based on that encounter and the other rather poor communication and rudeness after the purchase. I felt duped based on the original niceness and customer service I was given in my first visit. Disappointing. read more

Love this place! I just moved to the area and was in need of unique furniture for my new apartment. I found a great mid-century dresser and sofa set at Basement Vintage! The staff in the store was super sweet and the owner even delivered both my pieces to Detroit!!!! What a sweetheart! I will be back for sure! read more

This would be a great store due to the neat stock, however the owner is extremely difficult to deal with. I bought a few things from this store since it opened, however the last item I called and placed on hold as I was out of State. I advised Linda I would be in over the weekend to pay for the item, Linda must have called me earlier in the day and if I would have listened to the voicemail she left I would have NEVER come back into the store! we were in the process of buying a home and I was at the home inspection all morning , her voicemail said " Hey you didn't come in and pay today! I am expecting you. - Now I did go in and pay late afternoon, but if I had heard this message would have not, what way is that to talk to a customer. To add insult to injury, she knew my situation (we were living in an apartment until our home closed) so she offered to keep the item until we closed on the home. She said she would store it upstairs in her ex-husband's offices until I could pick it up. A couple weeks later I begin getting threatening calls from her to get it out of her store (her words) , then she said she was going to charge me daily rent ! The item was there for four weeks total, she knew what my situation was, and I have never been treated this way by any store owner, estate sale company etc. and I buy a lot from such stores as I like the unique. Any buyer beware, she is nice at first but underneath does not have the customer service side down, being a store owner you must deal with the public and if you can't deal professionally with people, it is not for you. Too bad as this rating should be good due to the stock the items keeps. Linda find someone to represent you on a daily basis and keep in the background to be successful.. read more
