The owner, Tara, is very organized and helpful. Friendly! The store is stunningly arranged. It is the best looking consignment store in the metro area, and it's huge once you are inside. From the outside it looks small. This is a great place to shop for your home. Why buy new when you can get such high quality used? There are lampshades, kitchenware, textiles, glass, pottery, lamps, pictures, cook books, holiday decor, everything you could possibly want. Love just browsing through. I have been a customer of New2You for years. I have consigned furniture and accessories and have also bought furniture and accessories from this store. I have bought high end furniture that I would never have been able to purchase at a retail store due to the cost. For example, I bought a $5,000 Gorman's couch that looked brand new for $800.00 The owner is very nice. She is helpful and has even called me when items came into the store that she thinks would go well in my home. I am aware that she provides this service to any customer who asks her to be on the lookout for certain items. She is also very honest and has stopped me from buying furniture and items that would have clashed with my home decor. I appreciate her ethics and that she cares more about the customer than making a sale. read more

Don't miss this shop! We were there on the weekend on a bus tour. It was very busy with us being there and two trucks delivering furniture, but handled very well. We stopped at a total of 8 shops in the Detroit area, but this was our favorite because the quality and cleanliness surpassed a lot of the other stores. It was very organized considering how packed it was. Workers were very knowledgable and Friendly. They stage the store quite well. Way way way overpriced! I get its a consignment store and not a thrift store and even keeping in mind the location being a more upscale neighbor its still over priced 80s junk! I literally couldn't even believe my eyes! 40 bucks for a used 1979 crockpot? Was it even worth that in 79? You don't get to have what you paid for it 40 years prior! A outdoor set that was busted up and dated for 150 bucks! Literally crazy! And I wouldn't say it was organized at all! It's junk! Junk everywhere which is usually right up my alley but when you pick up an old shoe and it says 20 bucks on it I am still in shock! Surprised they are even in business.. I have been in this store 3x, each time more optimistic than the last but I think it would be my last visit. I was turned off by the lady owner's arrogant attitude. I actually got the "Pretty Woman" brush off when I asked the price of an item. She looked at me and said, "it's very expensive." I then pressed on and continued to ask how much for this particular mirror. It was a price that I might consider and I would perhaps have bought it but I was just so disgusted by the lady/seller. I've often shopped and left items at 2 other consignment stores in Northville area and I love their service. Readers of a recent craigslist "owner" sales ad for used wicker items were misled because New2You, a BUSINESS OR "DEALER", not an "owner" failed to state it was not the owner of the wicker items for sale in the ad disclose the sole contact information (an e-mail address) in the ad belonged to New2You, and not the items' owner state New2You, not the items' owner, would be receiving and handling item inquiries state the items were located at New2You, not the owners residence include the name, location and phone number of New2You in the ad did not state New2You would be closed and not respond to calls about sale items for 3 days Further, New2You breached terms of the sale written in the craigslist ad by refusing to immediate sell, at advertised full asking price, any of the all separately pictured and priced items in the craigslist ad failing to provide requested proof that offers to buy items had been handled in chronological--or any--order failing to sell any of the wicker items to any of the "more than a hundred callers" for 5 days stating "the (true) owner would prefer to sell everything to one person, and "there is someone who MAY buy everything." read more

Old, Tired, Dated I have not been to New 2 U in years and I was quickly reminded why. I visited the store almost two weeks ago and asked about a price for an urn. No one knew. Almost two weeks later, still no price. Clerk just made a guess and offered to look up and call me back. Items have been there soooo long, the price tags are yellowed and faded from the sun. There is markdown on top of markdown on over priced old stuff. Just a huge collection of old stuff that no one wants anymore. Store is very odd, in that the resale store also sells propane for your BBB grill tank. That must be what keeps them in business. This shop is an over-priced, unorganized junk pile. The person who was behind the counter was unprofessional, insulting and kept disappearing leaving the front unattended. The clothes are jammed on racks with piles of toys and junk. It is like a Salvation Army that has been hit by a tornado. How unfortunate. I was in Michigan exclusively looking for this type of store as I am a buyer for a large restaurant/hotel group in Chicago. The shop was clean, the inventory was full and upscale. It was Saturday, the last day of my ten day excursion in Michigan. I purchased several things at this store. I asked about a pair of lamps sitting on the counter up front. The cashier stated that they had not been priced yet. The owner is the only person who does pricing and she was unavailable. She would however be in tomorrow. The cashier tried phoning her to no avail. I left my name and number and she stated she'd call me before they closed at 7pm. No call. I was heading back to Chicago with my truck full of goods but I really wanted the lamps. I postponed leaving Sunday morning by 3 hours and was there waiting for them to open. The first to arrive was the cashier from the previous day. When I questioned why she hadn't phoned me she said uh and um allot and then said the owner was still researching the pricing??? Then the owner pulled up and I explained. She first said only one lamp was still there. I was livid. I had asked about them first. Then I asked if I could purchase the one remaining lamp still standing on the counter. She fumbled her words and then came up with some story about the consignee perhaps wanting them back. I asked if we could phone her and see if she had decided. No. It was so obvious they were lying. I got the impression the owner may have been keeping them for herself. These should NEVER have been out in the store if they were unavailable. I now realize I have postponed my trip back to Chicago for nothing. For liars who couldn't even get their stories straight. While this was unfortunate for me it is much more unfortunate for the store owner as my associates and I scour this type of store all over the Midwest on a regular basis purchasing thousands of dollars of items each trip. This is what we do for a living. She could have been on our 'regular' route where we would come to her store every 2 weeks. The stores that we do work with regularly are extremely successful and even email pics of new items they think we may be interested in as they learn over time the things we like. Their store names are on our website for other buyers to see. I guess it just proves you never know when opportunity will knock so honesty is always the best policy. Too bad. read more
