First of all I don't understand when a reviewer talks about how nice of place was and how they enjoyed their stay but only give 3 Stars, then someone blames the RV park for tiny ants being in their cabinets giving 1 Star. I guess everyone has the right to give whatever rating they want, but sometimes I feel this is unfair for the business. We stayed a week there in July and had a great time. Due to the unusual hot weather we spent a lot of time at the pool. The pool seemed very clean and we didn't encounter anyone drinking alcohol. Even if someone did have a drink I wouldn't blame the RV park for their actions. We used our StarLink internet so I can't comment on the quality of the RV Park internet. I found out over the years that most KOA's and Good Sam parks do have connection problems when they are 100% occupied. The Staff was very friendly and helpful. Someone mentioned in another review that there was no garbage service. To me that is not big deal I just put my trash in the dumpster, just as I would do at a National or State Park. We used the RV Park's showers on the final day and they were very clean. Finally, we did see big beautiful Pine Cones on the ground and we didn't hear any report of injuries from getting struck in the head by a falling Pine Cones, as one reviewer worried about in their review. Overall if we ever return to Williamsburg we would definitely return to American Heritage RV Park. read more

Where can I start?! First of all, the campground has a very well-maintained facility including level, concrete pad campsites and a wonderful shower house/restroom facility that is regularly maintained. There is a dog park, laundry, an arcade, and a nice pool facility. Roads are good and signage is easy to see. Full service hookups to include WiFi, cable, water, and sewer. Recycling and trash disposal is easy access to campsites. Visitor parking is across the road from the campsites. The camp store is well-stocked and staff are super friendly. Propane refill is available from the camp store. Miniature golf is available on-site. Let's just say they have it all. This is one of the highest-rated campgrounds on the Good Sam Club app - they are maintaining that high standard every single day. One of our top five campgrounds we have ever been to since beginning our camper journey in 2013. We will be back and hope for it to be often! Note: Close to local attractions such as Colonial Williamsburg, Busch Gardens, Yorktown, Jamestown Settlement, and many other local attractions. American Heritage RV Park - Excellent campsites and facilities. - RV Parks Near Me - Williamsburg, Virginia

We recently brought a group of ten campers to American Heritage RV Park because several of us had stayed there before and remembered it as a clean, well-kept park. Based on those positive experiences, we recommended it to our group and looked forward to sharing the campground with them. Unfortunately, this stay did not meet our expectations. Because sites are not assigned in advance, we could not choose sites that worked well for our group. Our 42-foot fifth wheel was placed in back-in site #136, which -- like the other back-in sites -- has a tree planted at the rear that prevents fully backing in. This left us very close to the road, with no way to park in front and no room to park alongside without blocking our steps. We first parked across the road in a grassy area but were told to move. When we parked in another group member's pull-through site, we received a call saying two vehicles were not allowed -- even though we observed several sites with two vehicles. The office directed us to the overflow lot near the front of the park, the farthest point from our site on the back row. When we asked to speak to the manager, we were told she works off-site. I emailed her asking her to visit our site, but she never responded. We were also told we could not put up a dog fence that extended onto the grass, though this rule was not posted anywhere. When booking months in advance, we requested that our sites be grouped near a cabin for one of our members -- an 86-year-old woman in a wheelchair who requires oxygen. She was placed first in Cabin 5, then moved to Cabin 8 after a request for a larger and closer cabin. The second cabin was still far from our sites, down a hill and facing the woods in an unlit area, making it hazardous to reach at night, expecially for her. We also saw another camper with a rig identical to ours struggle to get into a back-in site, ultimately hitting a water faucet across the road, leaving the park without water for over two hours. These sites are simply not suitable for big rigs. While the park is clean, our overall experience was frustrating. Guests who book early, provide rig sizes, and pay for extended stays should reasonably expect sites that accommodate their camper and tow vehicle, and that group requests would be honored when possible. Large rigs should be cautious -- the back-in sites are tight and maneuvering is difficult. Unfortunately, based on this visit, I cannot recommend American Heritage RV Park. read more

We recently stayed here for our final camp of the season. This park is very clean and quiet. The bath houses are spacious and very clean. Unlike some of the other camp sites I've been to the bath houses have a main entry with a row of toilets and a row of showers. I really like that because you can quickly get in and out and what you need to do. The RV section of the park has regular sites or premium sites. The premium sites come with patio furniture and nicer fire pits. The regular sites have picnic tables and a fire pit. They do have amenities like basketball, a swimming pool, horseshoe, a game room and mini golf. The mini golf was a few holes with no attendant, golf balls or golf clubs in sight. You may need to bring your own stuff or check with the office. The game room only had two games that work. My favorite part of this campground was the trails in the woods. It's a fairly easy trail my kids had a blast. The trail is about 0.88 miles. This park is very quiet so if you are looking to have solace and connect with nature this is your place. If you are looking to party this is not that sort of camp ground. That being said there are a lot of rules. *All kids have to have helmets when riding bikes or scooters! *no clothing lines strung outside * One automobile per site, additional vehicles must be registered. *No rowdy and/or boisterous behavior allowed! They have a-lot of pine cones here! The pine cones are massive and could hurt if they fall on you. Be aware of the falling pine cones! Overall my stay was pleasant. read more

I recently had family come in to town, towing their RV. They made great use of one of the premium sites which had full hook up for water, power and sewer. I stayed two nights in one of the on site cabins. I chose a bigger one which had one queen bed, a bunk bed (separate room), kitchen (no oven), bathroom, living room with pullout and dining area. Note: you must bring your own linens. Cable tv was available in living room and bedroom. HVAC provided by two wall units. Installed heating. The staff are very kind and accommodating. Only negative feedback: restrooms by the pool were in need of serious attention. read more

This email was sent to the owners to let them know of our experience at this rv park. We were so excited to be able to spend the long 4th of July weekend there. For days we readied our camper, food, and packed all that we needed. A little vacation was exactly what we needed. Upon arrival to site 90, we set up and everything seemed to be good. We decided to go to the pool. It was very cloudy and the step down into the pool seems dangerous. I swam anyway as it was such a hot day. Even though the sign said no alcohol at the pool, almost everyone was drinking alcohol. We looked for the miniature golfing area and were shocked that you would even call it that. The picture on the map implies that it will be fun. It was bare and unappealing. When we got back to our camper, I wanted to shower and we found out that the water is Sulphur water. In all of our years of camping, we have never been to a park that did not have acceptable drinking/showering/cooking water. Then... we sat down at our table to eat our dinner and the camper was covered in tiny ants. And I mean thousands of them. We killed all we could but they were in everything! Even our package of napkins. It was really awful. That night when we went to bed, I did not sleep well. I kept waking up thinking that the ants were crawling on me. I asked my husband how he slept and his experience was the same. We packed up and left by 9am the next morning. We would like a refund of the two remaining nights. Please let us know if you need any further information from us to make sure this happens. Though we have called and left messages to speak with them and sent several emails, we have not heard from them once. Not even an apology. read more

My booster won't even work here. No trash pick up- gotta take it to the office. Despite tight turns they don't take you to your site. These owners need to get into this century. Like this place. Not perfect but still a 5 compared to some place. Sites are close together but very clean and the hooks worked great. We did had a premiere spot which gave us full hook ups concrete pad to park on and an extra concrete with a patio table with 6 chairs. Really didn't have much interaction with the people in the office so no complaints. The restrooms were clean but not perfect. Always had hot water but you may want to try the cold side if you have a problem....the hot side didn't work but turned it to the cold and it worked for hot water. Yeah! The pool was nice and clean. Not very pleasant to deal with. Lady was rude about long term rentals, seems like she had more pressing matters than doing her job. First she said they had sites available and then she said they are only held back for people who work??? My parents are retired and looking for a 3 month site, guess money spends different depending on who you are. 1200 a month for the site no matter patio or not. Our family stayed here during thanksgiving and we had an awesome time! The staff was very friendly and was there to help whenever you needed something. The park was clean and laid out very nicely. The park has one pool and one bathhouse, good size dog park as well as a basketball court towards the front of the park. There are several nature trails that are accessible from the park. The sites are concrete with most of them being pull through with concrete pads that include a picnic table. Fire buckets are available upon request. There are some premium sites that offer large concrete pads with a chimney surrounded by tables and chairs. We had a great time and we plan on coming back to this park during the same time next year! read more

We stayed here 4th of July weekend and I understand it was a holiday and this whole Covid thing but I was disappointed this time staying here. The dog poop trashcan was over flowing and since we were right across the street from it, it was pretty off putting. They had the time to have someone put a sign on the can saying dont put ur camp trash in here but they couldn't take the bag out. There was nobody holding people accountable to the rules. There was smoking and drinking going on in a smoke and alcohol free pool and kids drinking golf carts well past the quiet time curfew. Was a wonderful experience but came to a end very quickly..on November 29th to be exact. A young lady and gentlemen on a golf cart that seemed to be a couple were gathering trash from several sites... I was walking my dog up to the office when I heard a vulgar noise coming from one the storage/work sheds off to the side where the golf cart was now parked. the older lady was shouting in sexual gestures to her boyfriend/CO worker.. To F#+# her harder and was wailing.... I continued back to my site after this inconvenience and as walking away I noticed the lady from the office Cassandra pulling up her pants as she was sliding on the golf cart along with the man fixing his.shirt and belt... Both head to office in a hurry and laughing meanwhile I was appalled... When I went back into the office about 15/20 minutes later after putting my dog up I walked in the office and waited at the desk with no one there but lady Cassandra was in a side office ?was bragging to another female about what she just did with her boyfriend and what a mess he made in her panties.. I have never had this type of experience and I can definitely say I will not be returning especially with my kids due to.the lack.of professional associates.. very disappointed abd will not be returning. I hope this review gets out and I hope the owners and managers get to the bottom of such a horrible event at a family/child based resort.. I will be sharing this review on all travel sites... I had to stop my husband from leaving a review he was furious and dealt with this situation on his mind till we made.it back to Toronto read more

This is very nice RV campground in Williamsburg area -- easy to get to and close to area conveniences. We have only stayed in the older campsite area, which I think is the best -- more space between sites and lots of mature shade trees. Concrete level pads and paved roads in the older area. Fire rings included. Staff always friendly and helpful; let us look at open sites and choose our preference. Bath house is clean, dog park recently upgraded, lots of woods' trails in the forested area around park. Pool and putt-putt course could use some attention. Recycling drop off, which is not always the norm at RV parks. We stayed there off and on for 2-1/2 years while our daughter and family stationed nearby. read more

Good morning, After giving this much thought I drafted this message regarding a issue that occurred while camping here at American Heritage. In August of this year I made a reservations on August 11, 2021 for November 11 - 14, 2021. I provided the names of friends that already had reservations and requested I be assigned a site as close as possible to them. I was informed I would be on the site next to one of them. On our arrival we learned I was no longer assigned a site next to my friend. I had been assigned a site 5 rows away! After some discussion I was moved to being only two rows away. Still not even close to where to the site I was originally informed of when I made the reservation. My friend had even called the Sunday prior to make sure that the reservations and sites were confirmed. He was informed they were. When my friend arrived on his site he noted the site next to him was empty. I called the office informing the staff of the same information. I was informed that the person assigned that site requested a site with no trees and could not be moved. During my stay I have noted there are multiple empty sites with no trees on one row. I have been visiting this campground for at least 10 years. I do like the campground. But I now going to be reluctant to continue being a customer if this is going to become normal practice. From all appearance I had a site reserved and was moved due to another customer having preferential treatment, for whatever reason, over me. That is not good business practice. Not only have I been a customer over 10 years I have highly recommended the campground to many of my friends. I can no longer do that now after this occurrence. Thank you Follow up. After posting this review I received a telephone call from Rachel with American Heritage. Rachel apologized for the issue. She accepted responsibility for the many miscommunications that occurred at multiple levels. She stated she did not want to make excuses but the staff members I dealt with were inexperienced with less than three months on the job. She offered compensation for a future visit to make amends. As I said before, this is a good campground. It is clean and neat. I hope my next stay is smoother than this one. If not, there are many other campgrounds to enjoy. read more

Was not impressed. Camp sites are ample, and the upgraded lots are worth the extra money. We were mostly disappointed with how limited activities were. Was quiet and relaxing but I would not recommend for kids. Cable connections were so static you couldn't even see a picture on the tv. The mini golf, if you can even call it that looked like it was abandoned. One hole was even taken over by a huge bush and had massive moss growth. Balls and clubs weren't even sanitized between uses during Covid. Definitely won't be back. read more

Very poor customer service. We had 13 coaches for an annual holiday weekend. Low wire in front of office pulled an antenna off one couch. Management would not pay for damage. 2 coaches came early and campground charged $20 each for being 2 hours early when campground was not near full. Party room was dirty. Request for garbage bags for party room was ignored. No cable as advertised. Cell service poor to none same with internet. Sites were not ready date we were to arrive. Pity because we do our annual holiday weekend there every year. This will probably be the last. read more

We booked a site here because of its location. I prefer camping in state parks where the sites are large and separated and tend not to like larger campgrounds. I was pleasantly surprised. It was a peaceful, serene campground run by a friendly staff. The sites are fairly close to one another but care has been taken to keep the living area of one site from the hook ups of the adjoining site. We have been to too many campgrounds where the sewer hook up is very close to the picnic table. I like the bushes planted that offer a physical barrier between the sites. If you're heading to Williamsburg doesn't hesitate to book here, you won't regret it! read more

Ritz of campgrounds! After a night of staying at a campground full of 'bikers', we moved to a more quieter RV park. This was SO much nicer than the other park. They just renovated their 'bath house', there was plenty of space between the 'sites'. There's a large open field to walk the dogs, and a separate dog play area(fenced in). The staff is so SUPER friendly and accommodating. Everything about this place was top-notch! Bookmark this little RV getaway when you're in the Williamsburg area because it's definitely a 'gem'. read more

This is the second time we have stayed at American Heritage. Very nice and they paved all the roads since the first trip in October. The bathhouse is very nice and clean. All of the staff is very nice and friendly. The sites can be a bit tight in you are over 30 feet but if you take it slow it's ok. The finished adding a bunch of new sites in the very back of the park. We will be back again. This is our go to spot when visiting Williamsburg. read more

This is a very nice RV Park. Close to the freeways but not close enough to hear. Nicely laid out sites with trees and some grass. Concrete pads which is nice. There's a fenced dog run (at the back of a large field) and some nature trails. Laundry, a pool, other amenities for families that we didn't try. Overall a real nice park!! We stayed at American Heritage last summer and liked it so much that we went back again last week. It is clean, well-laid out, lots of big trees, and a wonderful pool. There is also a laundromat and a game room next to the pool. The staff is friendly and answered all the questions I sent by email before arrival. Prices are reasonable and are in line with the area. Office personnel were welcoming and efficient and the grounds staff were very helpful. I'd definitely recommend this as a perfect place for vacation. I'll be back again! read more

We stayed here for 4 nights on site 101. Awesome experience worthy of 5 Stars. Clean, quiet, and relaxing. Nice wide pull throughs so you aren't on top of your neighbor. Staff is polite. Even the cabins are clean and new (some relatives stayed in a few of them). We will be back for sure. read more

We spent two nights in late October at this RV park. The park is very close to many historical areas and especially Colonial Williamsburg and Jamestown The pluses: - Very clean facilities, including sites, common areas, and bathrooms - Level, paved sites that were long enough to park our 24 ft. trailer and our truck - Laundry facilities that I actually used - Lots of trees, beautiful landscaping, and very quiet - Much to do in the area with national and local attractions The one minus: - No-one that I could see but did not use the pool due to the dates we were there Recommendation: - Keep updating the facility Conclusions: - I would stay here again and longer so I could visit more historical sites we missed read more

This is a great place to stay while visiting Williamsburg. Very convenient but not in the middle of the tourist district. Easy access in and out and about a 10-15 minute easy drive to attractions. Very well laid out and nicely maintained grounds and facilities. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Roads are paved, sites are level concrete with a picnic table. Some newer sites have a fireplace and nice patio with furniture. Fire pits are available as requested. No open fires here. Easy hook ups, cable tv was good, Verizon Wireless had 3 bars however data was a bit slow. We did not try the WiFi. Pool, bathrooms, bathhouse were clean. A good mix of backin and pull thru sites some with plenty of shade and others in the back are full sun. We stayed in backin site #73 with plenty of room for or toad and 35ft Class A. read more

This is the first time we've stayed here and while I'm not usually a fan of "RV Parks" (we are more of woodsy campers) this place was AWESOME. Camping on a cement pad with a cement patio was all new to us and we felt a little spoiled (and loved it!) Our site was one of the new ones, waaayyy down back, so the road near our site wasn't paved, but I'm okay with that. We have a hybrid travel trailer and we were one of the smallest rigs there. Our site was more like 'field' camping, way out in the open. This was only because the site was new, as they had planted some trees near our site but they hadn't grown to the size of providing any shade. The sites were spread far apart down in back, and I noticed they were closer towards the front. The laundry room ran out of change when I was between washing and drying, and although there was a vending machine, there was no detergent or dryer sheets in it. The store is very, very small and offers very little in the way of food. The woman at the desk did let us know there was a grocery store a mile down the road, and she even gave us a coupon to use. The staff there were all very, very nice. We put our trash out before 11 and they came and picked it up each day. Campground is very quiet. The pool was very nice. They have a big inflatable slide, but that costs extra which was a little disappointing for my kids. It's definitely got the most 'bang for your buck' as we have paid way more to camp in way less desirable conditions. We were given the AAA discount when we presented our card. We even chose to add an extra night to our stay. We weren't at the campground much as we were doing most of the touristy things in the area, but we would 100% stay here again if we were ever in the area! read more

We camped here in a 5th Wheel for my son's lacrosse games at Warhill Sport Complex. It was that or go back and forth to VABCH for two days in a row. The site we were given was close to the front of the park, with plenty of room. There were also "Premium" sites on the ends of each row, which included a grill, patio set, fire pit and landscaping. There is a giant inflatable slide that apparently becomes a paid attraction on the weekends, but we didn't have time to use it. The pool,laundry and bathhouse were all very clean. We actually had the most fun in the game room, which was a throwback to 1983, right down to the paneled wall and indoor outdoor carpeting. Two pool tables, air hockey and a sweet Namco machine (Dig-Dug anyone? I'll beat your high score!) as well as "The Claw" all in surprisingly good condition. Our son looked at us like we were alien creatures as we giggled over our collective past. And I earned status points for whipping my son's behind playing pool! I would definitely come back here to stay if we have to be in the Williamsburg area. Some things that I would avoid: the "new" Pottery ( a total waste of time) and the overpriced outlets. read more

Great campground. Nice level concrete sites, clean bath houses, clean. Have stayed here a couple of times. When we stayed the last time there was construction, but that never really bothered us as we were away at the sights during the majority of the day. Made our first visit in this week. This is a well laid out RV park with comfortable space for even the largest rigs. Not all sites are equal size, but even in the smaller ones the room is "adequate". We opted for a premium site with grill, patio table and chairs and fire pit - it was great. Other facilities are outstanding - the swimming pool was clean and well maintained; the inflatable slide seemed to be busy all the time, though it wasn't cheap; the restrooms were in great condition; the grounds were well maintained; the gift shop/store was well stocked with supplies and had a great selection of novelty and craft items. Above all, the staff was friendly and helpful. One caution - some sewer connections seem to be more than 10' away, so come prepared. We had such a great time we immediately made a reservation to go back. read more

Let me start my saying the camping site its self was one of best I've seen. Sadly thats about the only positive thing I can say. This park was probably great about 20 years ago. The advertised game room has 3 none functional games. The pool was so cloudy you couldnt see the bottom at 3 feet deep. The hippo slide that is advertised should be included in the price.Seeing that only I only seen 1 person on it the entire time is evident of that. The mini golf looks like they cut places in the grass to play. This is a very quiet place which is great for us but our kids were bored very quickly. A nice RV park and if I could I would give 4.5 stars. We stayed with a 40 ft rear pusher towing a car. Nice level concrete pads. We found the office staff to be pleasant and helpful. We did not use many of the amenities, such as the pool, putt putt course, or the jumbo slide, but for families with small children they would be nice. The park was quiet and our premium lot had a beautiful patio area. It was also just a short drive from grocery and drug stores. Our only complaints were the lack of a change machine in the laundry room (minor inconvenience) and the tree by our lot (#10) needed to be trimmed as it hindered our ability to easily push out our slides and park our vehicle. We would highly recommend this park for those traveling in an RV. read more
