Where to start? I have been coming here for over ten years. In thet ten years have made many friends, learned from others. The size has almost quadrupled so there is something for everyone. No pool, fancy towels or steam rooms with schweaty guys. A real gym with everything from free weights to computer assisted lift machines. You will encounter strong men, body builders, athletes, body models, crossfit, yoga and even some pudgy, boomer, honeybadgers like me trying to max out machines. Speaking of machines, you will hard pressed to find all of the machines here at other gyms. The unique and unicorn are all represented. The staff is always excellent. The ownership team is absolutely focused on your happiness and health. They give back to the community and are the nicest people you could ever meet. I was reading through the comments and want people to understand that all walks of life, gender, race, religion or sexual orientation are welcome here, this a very diverse gym. Even carb chasers like me! Plenty of fitness trainers as well!

    Field room post workout! Success!

Having worked and worked out at a few gyms in the Reno area I can officially say that American Iron is an incredible gym. The sense of community at this place is unparalleled by any other and with all the growth they've had in the last two years, you can now do just about any kind of workout that fits your style. I don't lift super heavy weights but they have plenty of powerlifters and strongman there who can easily get their workouts in and love it. There are a number of bodybuilders if that's your thing. I do more natural movement, a small amount of CrossFit-type exercises, and calisthenics. I can even get my boxing in on the days I need to hit something. This gym has it all and I love that! I always see staff cleaning - the owners are machines with how they run this gym. Never seen anything quite like it. I most definitely recommend checking American Iron out - you'll be glad you did!

A gym with old school vibes and a ton of equipment and free weights. If you like working out and throwing around some weight without ego and judgement, this is your place. They have 4 different workout areas to suit your lifting needs, along with a smaller room dedicated to cardio equipment. Their memberships also have old school vibes-No contract, no annual fees, and no sign up fees. $35 a month, period. The evenings are busy but they have plenty of equipment, racks, weights, and turf so it never feels overcrowded. Best traditional gym in Reno, hands down.

An Incredible place to workout. You can tell it is a gym meant for serious lifters and people who are truly passionate about working out. My boyfriend and I will definitely be back the next time we're in Reno

Sage, the gym dog, is often around to make workouts more adorable.

I'm a fairly new convert to American Iron, but, from what I've seen, it's one of the most unique and value-driven gyms in Reno. With accessible hours, abundant equipment and opportunities for personal training, American Iron has some great perks. For potential members, be aware that this gym is pretty no-frills, but it does offer all of the most basic and advanced weightlifting equipment you'll ever need--including squat racks, free weights, kettle bells and more--as well as cardio machines. Among the patrons you'll find professional bodybuilders, exercise newbies, seniors and young people alike. When I first joined, I paid extra to work with one of the on-staff licensed personal trainers, Kindra Cannon, and I can't recommend her enough. She taught me how to use machines I'd never worked with before, and she gave me plenty of encouragement throughout the process (and tough love, when I needed it). She also offers meals plans as an add-on to her services. If you're just looking for a basic membership, this gym offers the most bang for your buck that I've seen in Reno, at around $30 per month (less if you buy several months or a year at a time). Things to consider: -The music appears to be a looping playlist of the same 20 metal, alternative and heavy rock songs (I'm pretty sure I've heard Papa Roach's "Last Resort" at least four dozen times since I became a member). If that kind of music isn't your jam, be sure to download Spotify or Pandora and listen to your own music on your smartphone. The wi-fi is free for members! -This gym can be intimidating, especially for women and/or beginners, who seem to be in the minority. Since the gym can get pretty busy during peak hours, other members will ask to work in with your equipment or swoop in on your machines while you're doing a circuit, so make sure you're willing to speak up if you need to. But many of the members are also experienced gym rats, so if you're willing to accommodate others and follow proper gym etiquette then you'll be treated well. The women who *do* go to American Iron are total badasses, by-and-large, so the atmosphere can be quite motivating if you give it a chance. -The location, on Rock Blvd on the east side of the airport, is off the beaten path for many Renoites, so take this into consideration if a close proximity to the gym is important to you.

    The greatest powerlifting room!

The owner, Matt, was quick to respond when I gave the gym a call and provided amazing customer service! He even swung by the gym and introduced himself. Gym is fully equipped with several cardio machines (stairmaster, bikes, treadmills), free weights, benches, turf area, cable machines, resistance machines, two squat racks and much more. In addition, for an extra cost, you can have access to their Recovery Room which has infrared saunas, compression boots for lowerbody (I believe hips too), and massage guns. There are also small lockers that are available for use during your workout. The gym is very clean and all of the equipment is well-maintained. This is my first time at a privately owned gym and I can see why people lean towards em. If you're local, I HIGHLY recommend checking this place out and getting a membership. I will definitely be coming back here anytime I'm up here visiting! Thanks again, Matt!! Other notes if you've made it this far in the review: gym is easy to find, parking wasn't an issue on a Friday morning, music plays in the gym at an appropriate level in case you forget your headphones lol, they have a built-in water dispenser, sanitizer wipes are conveniently placed everywhere throughout the gym and are well-stocked, a lot of natural light coming through the windows, has a lot of other workout equipment that most gyms don't have. For the rest, you'll just have to come and check it out yourself! Again, HIGHLY recommend this gym!

They will assess you and help you to get you to the best shape of your life! Rome didn't built in one day. Which brings me to the most important section of this review, the coaches. The coaches are probably the most important part of doing crossfit the right and safe way and the fun way! I'm training only 3 months and the amount of knowledge I acquired is absolutely a gold mine (personal thanks to Joaquin, Jacob and Derek). They listen, guide you, literally making you a better athlete, and on the way you become a better version of yourself; fit, sharp both body and mind. This is my honest review, I love this gym and the environment, and if you looking to better yourself and start taking control of your life and fitness, double edge fitness is the place to start!

During that visit, one of the coaches, Javi, made comments that were completely inappropriate for an adult in a position of trust. He told my daughter she "fights like a ghetto Black girl," which is an unacceptable and offensive remark to make to any child. He then had my 13-year-old daughter call me on the phone. During that interaction, he asked her to show him my social media pictures and told her he wanted me to have his babies. I have never met this man in my life. When I gave him no attention, he reportedly told my daughter, "Tell her never mind. She looks like she's an attention-seeking mother." I cannot understand why an adult coach would involve a minor in a personal conversation about her mother or make comments like these to a child. Coaches are supposed to mentor, encourage, and create a safe environment not put children in the middle of inappropriate personal interactions. I sincerely hope UFC Gym Reno takes this complaint seriously and investigates what happened. Parents should be able to trust that their children are in a safe, respectful, and professional environment.
