We have two cats and wanted them to stay at home while we were traveling, since boarding them can be such a stressful experience. We were looking for a personal recommendation or word of mouth service, but we weren't having much luck, so ended up approaching Home Sweet Home really last minute. The owner Jessica was really accommodating, came to see our place and go over everything. It was definitely a little nerve wracking to trust our pets and place to someone we just found on the internet, but it went really well. They offered to do other things to help out during visits to the home, like retrieve our mail and making our place looked lived in. The woman taking care of our cats left notes about how the cats were doing, how they were eating, which we really appreciated. The furballs were in good shape when we got home, the litter boxes were clean, etc. If we were still living in their area of service, we definitely would consider using them again if we needed pet care.

Being a business owner myself, I understand that it is not always easy to hire the perfect employee every time, but I also know that Ms. Jessica has high standards and expects her employees to treat their customers the same way she would expect to be treated if the roles were reversed and if they do not, she fixes the situation immediately. Also, I have noticed that she is actively involved in the community...especially in terms of animals and pets. She has worked with different agencies to help pets receive food and medical treatment for families that may be financially challenged in these tough economic times. She also holds fund raisers for animals. The way she cares about people and their pets is truly special and she is not doubt one in a million. Tess is very flexible and accommodating, allowing us to move an appointment the morning of for unforseen circumstances and even booked an appointment for me morning of if I had forgotten the night before. Our dog walker, Eric, was also great! Our dogs seemed very comfortable with him, which was evident in the daily updates he sent. He was also very attentive, he would text me if he noticed one of the dogs limping and he even put a towel down when we had a leak so it wouldn't spread anymore before we got home. Lastly, compared to other dog walkers their rates are very reasonable. Overall, you are definitely getting everything you pay for!

Currently my dog is being trained as a service dog, and I was ecstatic that I was able to get him started on his first task in my first session! I feel like they took great care in evaluating my dog for themselves and taking my own experience into consideration. I have been able to use things I've already taught my dog to further his training and it's even made me feel more confident as a dog handler. I love that they're a local business, and that they build a real connection with your pet. My dog who's usually aloof with people enjoys their company and even listens to them when I'm around which NEVER happens. I feel like their training methods are fair, and I like that they explain why they make suggestions for me. They're always willing to answer any of my dumb questions about their recommendations, without being condescending or holier than thou. I've enjoyed working with them so much I've already decided to do sports training and maybe even a board and train. Their prices are affordable which is an uncommon thing with training in chicago. I had a hard time finding someone within my budget, but I don't feel like I receive discount training. I feel like I don't have to be rich to provide training for my dog. All dogs can benefit from training (and all humans since it's usually us who has to make the biggest changes) and I'm so happy I found trainers I trust and can afford right in chicago. They are unethical (lied about the pup and breeder they were supposed to have been in contact with) and incredibly disorganized. They also tried to tell me that puppy raising board and train was equivalent to weekly in-house trainings. Nothing made any sense. I lost $3000 due to their "No refund policy" (they never even met the dog they were supposed to train), but I decided to cut my losses and run instead of staying with them and progressing with whatever program they were going to do. Please learn from my mistakes.
