There's something about American Legions. I've spent a little bit of time in this one and I'm happy to say that it's pretty timeless. You may know this but the American Legion is more than a bar with cheap (like super cheap) beer. It's a patriotic veterans organization. It's also the place to find people with stories that we should all hear. Stories of war and age and life that hold truths that might help us better understand our country and inform our futures. Not to get all mushy about it but sidle up to someone in one of those spots and then get back to me on whether that hour of conversation was worth it. Or you can drop in, have a $1.50 busch light, some free popcorn and take everyone's money during a rousing game of Euchre. Something for everyone. read more
