Kudos to Felix at American Shave Had a wedding to attend and had put off getting a hair cut till the last minute. My grandson has been happy with A S for a while and recommended that I try to get there for a serious cleanup. Fortunately for me , There was a slot open with Felix. My last haircut was almost a year ago but Felix didn't even bat an eye when he assessed the disaster area that was on top of my head. He asked if I had a preference in cuts and viewed the photos I brought with me. Long story short (pun intended) Felix got to work and took his time making professional tips on cut and style. I went in for a head shave and the "bearded bastard" treatment on my birthday and it was a great experience. They are doing some remodeling so its not as cool as it will be when finished, but the atmosphere was still pretty good. Classy jazz music and that o i'l d fashioned barbershop smell great you as soon as you walk in. The waiting area is comfortable and classic as well. My stylist did a great job and it was a truly indulgent experience, my head was smooth as can be and my beard has never looked and felt better. One surprise though was the coloring ended up darker than expected but after getting used to it, I really like it and my family and friends agree i look 20 years younger, so that's a big win. Just moved to Florida and after reading reviews, decided to bring my son here (he's 10 yrs old). He's seen Matthew, Rey & Alex. All 3 gave him excellent haircuts. They listened to what he wanted, viewed pictures of previous styles and gave him what he wanted. The staff were all friendly & professional. The place was clean and orderly. I was in NYC for a week and I hadn't shaved and as I was driving from the airport in Sarasota, I noticed American Shave. I called and asked about a straight razor shave. I wanted one like I used to get in RI from an Italian barber. They did them as well as facials too. I made an appointment that day and got a "GREAT" shave and a facial too.
