I do not recommend this place. However, I do give 5 stars to Amanda. She is the best in the shop when it comes to piercings. Now, when it comes to tattoos. This is why lawler's James shop received an 0. The shop owner is NEVER available, NEVER in the shop when needed and allowing anyone to be an apprentice. Last time I checked, when an individual is still in apprenticeship and doing tattoos, they must be "shadowed". Nope. Not in this shop. They are letting individuals who usually pierce, tattoo just for the fudge of it and to "save" money. Now! My hands are totally messed up. I am tattooed from my face down to my toes! Never, ever in my life has this occurred to me. Not to mention, the price went from 150 to 200 because she didn't finish before a certain time. What??? I hate when places change their price mid/ after a session. Now, I have to go to the ER and start a case because you can't even tell what it says on my hands. You cannot tell someone who has been getting tattoos since I was 16, getting tattoos in Japan, Korea and Hawaii that this ish is normal. Something will and must be done. Until then, I do not recommend this place for tattoos. This is what a veteran deserves for serving this country??!! I have been coming here for a few years and I gotta say I am never disappointed. In total, I have gotten maybe 4 piercings there. Got another piercing a few weeks back and Brittany was awesome. She was very patient with me while I chose the perfect piece for my ear and advised me when she thought it would be detrimental to my healing process. I truly appreciate it! I have been getting tattooed and pierced for 25 years,and American Tattoo & Piercing is the BEST shop I have ever been to. Brittany and Sevan (like 7, but with an 'A') were immediately friendly, welcoming, totally cool, and I felt right at home in the shop. Sevan and Brittany walked me thru the piercing process they use (with which I was unfamiliar-it had been awhile), explaining it in a way I understood and felt good about, and Sevan handled the piercings. Her knowledge and skill are obvious, and her technique is on par with, or better, than anyone I've met. Sevan is outgoing, personable, and cool to death, and her skill, technique, and friendly demeanor put me at ease and kept me there the entire time. Both lobes were so smooth and painless, I hardly knew when she had finished. She has a light touch, and knows what she's doing. I have used this location for my piercing that last year so far up to 4 (getting 2 more soon). Each time they have been kind and helpful from beginning to end of the appointment. That includes picking location of piercing and which jewelry piece would look best. I normally use Sydnni as we vibe real well together and she does such a great job. She has amazing communication via instagram in regards to questions and is super personal during the appointment. She makes you feel totally comfortable even if the process isn't. My wife has always come here for piercings. Recently though we came in to get her ears pierced. It done by someone we've never seen before, I believe he's the owner? She was too embarrassed to say it at the time, but they were done totally uneven and at different angles. She removed them the next day. Seems like they are under new management, as we didn't recognize anybody there this visit. Wouldn't recommend. read more

I had the best time there. I don't think I caught the name of the guy that tattooed me but he had a small Texas tattoo under his eye (so y'all can identify him) . He was great! My newest tat is tiny under my elbow . I was a walk in with an idea and he took it in stride- creating something that was perfect for what I was thinking . It was something little to commemorate a friend. The colors and design are spot on. The conversation was good and atmosphere was relaxed . I didn't feel the tat pain at all. My daughter and I came in yesterday and we're both pierced by Syddni. We had scheduled an appointment through their site which was amazing. A couple of weeks ago I reached out to discuss the piercing since my daughter was a minor and has a great conversation with Syddni. The facility: I've had more piercings than I'll admit to in my 20s. I've been in numerous tattoo/piercing shops across Texas. I've never been in a shop that was as nice as this one. Even though the layout is similar to others, the design and decor give it a more upscale appeal. But like Tim Burton meets The Nun upscale. And I LOVED IT! The piercers: we were immediately greeted by the male piercer who was friendly and welcoming. On more than one occasion my experience at other shops has been the first person that notices me seems annoyed and that they would rather be at home. Definitely not here. Syddni came up and started all of the paperwork. She then had my daughter start reading over the aftercare instructions while she prepped the room. Once we made it back to the room she explained to my daughter each step needed for the septum piercing and what to expect pain wise. She has a calming energy and was really great with my daughter. After she finished I decided I wanted to get a piercing too and she went ahead and took care of me. What I really love is that she took a lot of time assessing the anatomy of where each piercing would go. Because not every nose or belly button is right for a piercing. I once had a botched industrial bar when I was 23 so I appreciate her being responsible and thorough. I wish we had more time to discuss aftercare but that is 10000% my fault. I was 10 minutes late to the appointment due to not getting gas before I left and I squeezed in a second piercing in our time with her. Her next customer was there and it was their turn for her attention. She did give me her contact info for work and encouraged me to reach out to her with any questions and also let me know that when we want to change jewelry, we can come up there for assistance until we're more comfortable with it. This was quite possibly my best experience with a piercing and I've already referred two other people to come here for piercings they've been wanting. My family and I called to ask if the shop had availability for 4 memorial tattoos on Sunday 9/29/19. We were told there was an artist available and it's first come first serve. We rushed down to discuss what we were looking for. Dave was the artist who was very unwelcoming and quiet. Mind you this tattoo is in memory of my baby girl who I just lost so some compassion and understanding would be appreciated. My husband and our two daughters along with myself were looking to get butterflies to represent her. We were told we needed to wait a few minutes until he was done with another guest and we said that is fine. He asked exactly what we were looking for and to email images to him which we did. After around 45 minutes to an hour he came with the reference pictures and asked where we wanted them. I asked him about pricing, he said it depended on the size and area. I said ok but ballpark amount he said probably $100.00-$150.00. We said ok, again his demeanor was unwelcoming and not enthusiastic. I wanted to leave but my husband wanted to give him the benefit of doubt saying maybe he's just quiet. I know I'm emotional since I'm grieving the loss of my child so I agree maybe I'm reading him wrong. It was important for us to get these tattoos as our youngest doesn't live in town and we wanted to get them before she had to head back home for college. Once he came back with the stencils he just asked who's first, never did he say anything about the designs costing more than he quoted. He starts on our youngest daughter, my husband, myself, then my oldest which it was her first tattoo. All along with each of us he never spoke, if anything my youngest daughter tried to strike conversation with him but he wasn't interested. While working on my daughter the last tattoo, his coworker from the shop which I believe was the piercer came over and told him were almost done for the day. His response was " it's not ok, no man I just need a beer." I am not sure what his issue was and I hope something is said to him, if for some reason he didn't want to tattoo us he should have been upfront with that. It's not worth making a customer feel bad and uncomfortable especially considering our circumstances. Now I'll say his work is great, no complaints there! His pricing is in our opinion way overpriced. We are not new to tattoos so we are very well aware of pricing etc. The only reason we didn't wait for our normal tattoo guy was again timing. In conclusion we will never go back to the shop after our experience and I'll share this with the local community because I feel he wasn't professional. He charged my husband and myself $200.00 each, my youngest daughter $150.00, my oldest daughter who's tattoo took 7 minutes $100.00. These tattoos are small nothing huge. Also there was additional fees charged to that which he failed to mention until paying. read more

I came out yesterday to get my septum piercing, and I was so pleased with this shop (in terms of piercing). I've never been tattooed here, but I loved the customer service and kindness I received during my visit! My friend and I came in about 1.5 hours before closing on a Sunday. It was not busy at all (which was nice), so we didn't have to wait any time. Right away we were helped by a friendly fella, and he got us checked in and ready for the piercings! I got my septum pierced and my friend got her tragus pierced. It was both done by Lawler. He was a really cool dude, and me my laugh a lot which helped my anxiety that I had before the piercing. He was quick and effortless with the piercing. VERY smooth. We were both done in about 15 minutes. I can't say enough how pleased we were with the level of service and kindness. Tattoo & piercing shops can treat people (especially ladies) like assholes, but they didn't do that here. Very kind! I would def recommend. Shop was really clean and approachable. Showd up here unscheduled for a minor touch up. Was not one single artist in the shop. Spoke with extremely rude jerk at front desk ( something others on here have also noted) - who explained I needed to make an appointment. I had inquired with him About how to Go about making an appointment and he had in return notified me that his guys were booked up. After speaking with the guy at the front desk for a few minutes it became clear that he wasn't interested in helping me out or in providing me a service. So I bounced and went right next door to Superchango tattoo and they were friendly, accommodating and took care of business. They did an excellent job and I was out in 30 min. This review is for my piercing experience only -- I have not seen any finished tattoos from this location nor scheduled any work to be done. I was quoted prices over the phone from a very friendly woman, and informed the piercer was available from 6 - 8 that evening. $40 for both lobes, and a starting price of $30, depending on jewelry, for the outer conch. She also informed me that the shop accepts card as payment (no American Express). I arrived at the shop around seven in the evening. Their was one artist working on a tattoo, and a woman working the front counter. She was quick to greet me and get the paperwork started. I was given a few options of jewelry for my lobes, and told the conch piercing comes with the basic labret jewelry but that that I could pick out an upgraded piece for an extra $12 dollars. Basic is fine for the healing process, so I decline the upgrade. I opted to buy a can of H2Ocean for another $13 and was told to that the artist would be with me when he came to a stopping point in the tattoo. I guess the one gentleman is there doing everything and only pierces from 6 - 8? I didn't ask. I had already paid for the services when I took a seat, so I played on my phone and watched half an hour go by before I was helped. Whateves, I can see he is working with someone, I just wished I had gotten a warning his break wouldn't be for awhile. Piercings are normally in and out when you go to a shop - What if I had places to go, people to see? No worries, people, didn't ruin my grocery shopping afterwards :p He was a bit quiet and standoff-ish, but professional and quick to get the work done. Made sure I was happy with the placement and prompted for a deep breath before poking any of the holes in me. I am posting this review the afternoon after, ears look good so far, and I am certain I can handle the healing process. I am, however, a bit concerned about the pricing... 40 + 30 + 13 = 83 and I was charged 106. The only explanation I can think of would be that my lobe jewelry were considered "upgraded," even though she pulled out the display and told me to chose which pair I would want before warning me in reguards to the conch jewelry.. My fault for being nosy and looking at the tattoo that was being worked on while I checked out (shoulder piece, smaller, pretty standard phoenix outline). I tried calling and no one answered this afternoon, so I will try after work and will update the yelp community- maybe add a star -after speaking with them. *** UPDATE *** 1/16/15 in the evening I was contacted by the owner. He was able to breakdown my total, "30.00 for the Conch, 40.00 the Lobes, 13.00 for the H2Ocean, 4.00 Total needle disposal fee, and 18.00(9.00 per S.S. Stud) + sales tax for the Gemmed prong studs you picked out for your 2nd. lobes." Though that was not fully explained to me at the counter, I believe those charges to be fair.
