An active fishing pier where it resonates beautiful views of lower Manhattan, Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, and Statute of Liberty. The sunset at dusk is lovely with weather permitting. The pier is filthy filled with fish feed and pigeon feces. Bicycles are parked at the pier's railings and couples smooch to revive their relationship. Park benches are minimal and very filthy with fish feed and pigeon feces. A flagpole stands by the edge of the pier. On the negative side, there is no active fishing hole to deposit residue ergo four stars. The Shore Promenade is adjacent to American Veterans Memorial Pier to serve as a good resting place to intake a day in life. Brooklyn remembers September 11, 2001 with a memorial "Beacon" erected at American Veterans Memorial Pier. "Whole world seems to be too busy now days. Nobody's got time to just enjoy their day anymore." Angel of Death, Season 6 -- "Charmed"

I love this pier. Every time I am in Bay Ridge, I always stop here to watch sunsets. It is so peaceful to walk to the end of the pier, stopping at memorial along the way. Waves licking black stones at the shore, and Verrazano-Narrows arching from Brooklyn to Staten Island in all its glory... Sunsets are simply amazing here, time after time. I can never get enough of those colors... And when summer comes, it's a great spot to watch fireworks that explode across the water on SI side.

Amazing spot. 1) I will recommend coming here during sunset. It is absolutely beautiful. 2) The best part is you can get an excellent view of Lower Manhattan, Statue of Liberty, and the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. 3) It is a must visit if you are around the area.

    Beautiful dock/pier

Simply a beautiful vantage point to take in views of the city, and the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge from a distance. Every day, people come here to fish, hang out, and enjoy the sea breeze from New York Harbor. For a time, commuter ferries dock here to take residents into and from downtown, perhaps one of the best kept secrets of commuting of all time. Who wouldn't want a shortcut into work in 15 minutes? That being said, the ferry no longer runs here and that's a shame, at least until the proposed ferry system gets re-instated and they retrofit the dock with what's needed (turnstiles, tent, etc) to make it viable. Come out, take in the views of the harbor and an ice cream from the truck/vendor. This is a great stopping point for bicyclists along the path that spans well past the Verrazano.

A very relaxing place to come to - waves splashing, people lounging around, sounds of bikes coming and going, decent scenery. Whenever I bike along the water (horrendous bike path condition - watch your tires!), I return back here to cool down and go about my ways. At night, it's very refreshing because of the cooler winds and the view is so much better. The thing that took away a star is the inconsideration of fishers leaving their bait or fish pieces behind. Goodness, the place smells of salty water already, pieces of fish and bait here and there don't add to the smell or scene.

American Veterans Memorial Pier (formerly the 69th St. Pier) is a great place to watch the boats come in and out of the NYC Harbor. You get a wonderful view of lower Manhattan, Statue of Liberty, and the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. I see this pier and the bike path every time I drive down the Belt Parkway. I finally packed the bicycles and several of us headed down to the pier. The pier is concrete construction and has plenty of park benches along the edges to sit and enjoy the view or do nothing. Many people were fishing off the side and were catching fish. The pier is also the beginning (or end) of the bicycle path that runs along the Belt for 5 miles to Bay Parkway and a big shopping area and restroom stop at the Toy-R-Us. On the return trip we jumped off the bike path at fourth Ave (right next to the bridge) and pickup sandwiches and takeout. We took it back to the bike path and lunched on a bench. A lot of people walking, skating, biking and relaxing. It was worth the trip. The entrance the the Pier is at Shore Road and Bay Ridge Ave. Just go under the Shore/Belt Parkway to get to the Pier and the beginning of the bike path.

I like coming here during the summer evenings. It's such a relaxing place. A beautiful place to enjoy the view of the Verrazano bridge or the manhattan skyline. You can also see the Statue of Liberty as well. You can enjoy hearing the waves as it goes by or watch the boats pass by. The breeze during the summer evenings are refreshing and relaxing. Certainly a nice place to have a summer lunch or chat with a friends. Not a bad spot to bring your date as well. Take a deep breath, clear my mind, relax, and enjoy the view.

Great view of lower Manhattan and the Verazzano Bridge from here! There really isn't anything around this pier, it's at the very end of the shore parkway promenade. Alot of people fishing at all hours and some benche but not much else. During the day in the summer there is an ice cream truck and hot dog vendor but no other stores around, it's more about the view and nothing else.

Sunset overlooking the pier from Bliss Park.

Well its just a pier that juts out into the Narrows passage that leads to the Atlantic coast and towards north up the Hudson or East River. Back in the day it was known as the 69th street pier but since has been dedicated to veterans. I have fished here when it was a wooden rickety pier very unsafe years ago. But the improvements are good with plenty of seating and great views of the harbor. Its also the beginning of the bike/walk path on the Bay Ridge side. You can bike all the way to Gateway park starting at this location. I prefer Bliss Park to relax but here is also nice to be on the water and feel the ocean breeze. But sometimes you get the pollution plant breeeze...peeeee huuuuuh!!

Central Park may be in a more convenient location for tourists, but Prospect Park is a divine place to explore, with plenty of twists and turns, and what the heck is that? Lots to look at! The other thing I liked was that we found free on-street parking right across the street on Ocean Avenue. Amazingly we also found parking right by Central Park as well. (This trip was a superb driving one) Even hanging out in the van, having a cold one at the parking spot was a fun experience. There's even a cafe in the middle of the park that is super nice! Worth seeking out when visiting Brooklyn.

Lots of families, etc. Still, it can be an enjoyable time. I do prefer weekday visits myself. The walking/bike paths are a great way to see the park in its entirety. Plenty of green space for a picnic, playing frisbee, etc. Playground and splash pads as well. Of course, I can't forget the lake with all of the ducks splashing about. It's really a wonderful way to spend a day in Brooklyn, getting away from it all.

Looked more like a museum or some nice walkway to enjoy sightseeing of the Williamsburg bridge and the lower east side views of Manhattan, which is not that spectacular in my opinion because there are too many government buildings in that section so it's all brown over on the Manhattan side. Oh wells. Other than that, I'm shocked to see nice bathrooms a block away from the park for Domino Park guests! The bathrooms were really nice and modern! Each bathroom had dimmed lighting with a baby diaper changing station. One of the bathrooms was dirty with pee on the floor so I had to go to another one. Did not expect these nice bathrooms to get dirty like that! There were more bathrooms downstairs besides the ones on the first floor. The door to the bathrooms was very nice too! What a great job they did to this park. I cannot believe the Domino sugar factory still exists or is standing because I used to take the train and they be doing construction for many years for I don't know what reason. Looked like they turn downstairs into this nice modern park. So I went to the park to go to a Target pop up and got some nice freebies. There was enough space for pop ups and large crowds. Need to check out the rest of the park next time I'm here. Too bad there is no subway or trains going to this park and you need to resort to buses that take forever to arrive.
