When I sent an email to the salesman asking to verify if the address on Fostoria Rd. was correct, I heard nothing from him. Since I didn't hear from him, I thought that's where I had to go. When I got to that address, it was in the middle of a field. I was able to pull over and call and was given the correct address. When I got to the office, I said to the salesman that I was very unhappy that he didn't respond to my email regarding the address where he would have clearly known I had the wrong address if he read the email and that I would keep that in mind in how he would handle my project. In short, he apparently was irritated with my unhappiness and told me he was getting a bad feeling about the project relationship, so wouldn't work with me and I should just leave. So I left driving another 45 minutes back stewing all the way home! I guess he doesn't need the tens of thousands of $$ the project would bring him. Having had a great experience with Nelson Pools in the past, I was confident in their ability to…read moredeliver a quality service. However, this time, my experience was quite different. Here's a detailed account of the issues I encountered. * I asked Shawn Nelson (owner) to work with an audio/visual company I hired to install speakers around the pool. Shawn told me his trenching team would save me money by making (a few) trenches for the audio cable. o The trenches were never dug. The audio/visual contractor laid the lines, regardless. During Nelson's electrical hook-up of the pool, several of the audio lines were cut. One large bolt of wire is missing, and the audio company had to add multiple hours of labor to triage the damage. o After multiple calls and failure to show up on more than one occasion, the excavator finally showed up (late) well after the pool was filled with water. * We ordered bullnose tile to go around the pool for safety; my dog got injured on the flagstone they used in the first pool Nelson built for us; a freak accident (but I'd rather be safe for a small upcharge). The bullnose tile is an upgrade of about $1500. o They put down the wrong tile. o I was refunded the money and told Shawn Nelson we would live with it; we did NOT want the edge ground off by hand (an option Shawn offered). o Several weeks later, during another phase of construction, one of the laborers ground down part of the edge (about a 2-foot section). I was home to stop him, but he didn't speak English. The grinding stopped after Shawn Nelson called the work crew. The pool (now filled with water) had sharp rocks and dust piled up on the bottom (that I had to clean). The area that was ground down is obviously thinner and looks out of place. * We ordered deck lighting to be installed in the concrete patio around the pool, which is another upcharge. o They did not put the lighting in. Shawn's excuse was, "oops, we missed that" * When it was time to fill the pool and have the chemicals added and cycled by the pumps, we discovered the electrical system was never installed. Nelson Pools didn't know that the electrical work was not complete. * The pool lights did not work o Their electrician did not wire them to the correct amperage. * I ordered a pool pump-powered vacuum to be included with the pool package. Nelson Pools delivered the wrong one. I did not want an electrical wire from our home to the pool. We have a young child at home. o It took weeks to get the vacuum after multiple unanswered calls and text messages. * Nelson Pools gives their customers a professional pool technician to service the pool for a month; after the 4th week the pool was still green with algae. * Nelson Pools installed a gas-powered firepit next to the pool. I can't use it because a key for the firepit was not ordered, it was on backorder, or for another reason. * Swimming pools have plumbing that leads away from the pool in case of overfilling. The pipe for the drain is shown on the pool schematic leading to the street. o Nelson Pools did not extend that pipe to the street. Instead, they laid the pipe about 20 feet from the pool against my fence and neighbor's yard. I don't know what will happen when we get bad Texas-sized rain. * I have been asking for my HOA's virtual mock-up of the pool. Shawn Nelson did not have access to it; only his son (Trey) works on the computer. His son has a terrible time returning calls or text messages. I still don't have it. Shawn is a nice guy but not well-organized. This pool cost me nearly 100k, and I was a return customer. I expected the same service we had the first time; that did not happen.

CK Pools damaged my pool heater equipment by improper balancing…read moreand causing corrosion inside and then acknowledged fault, and then completely failed to make it right. Despite already accepting responsibility, they refused to refund or properly replace the heater they damaged. After weeks of back-and-forth, delays, and excuses, they finally offered to replace it -- but with a cheaper, off-brand heater, not the brand and quality of the original equipment they broke. To make matters worse, their chemical mismanagement caused extremely high alkalinity, which resulted in guests' hair turning green -- a clear sign of improper water balance and potentially damaging to skin and hair. This is especially alarming for anyone who hosts guests or values safety. The lack of accountability, professionalism, and urgency throughout this process has been exhausting and IS STILL NOT RESOLVED. This happend in August! If you value your equipment, your guests, or your peace of mind: RUN. I would never trust CK Pools again and strongly caution anyone considering their services.

The issue here is he has grown and a few things have fell short but we have been overlooking them until recently. He has hired "helpers" to clean the pools in most areas, I haven't seen him come out in months in return we have been receiving subpar cleanings, I have had to recently call them back out because his helper didn't get the air out of my system when he left and it continued to gurgle for over 24 hours! I will attach an email where his company sent out, our AGREED price was always $185.00 period! I noticed these last 2 months I'm paying over $200 now, he says well we sent an email out but NOWHERE in this email states he is starting to raise the price due to this new payment method, he knew what he was doing and snuck in this on the customers without their knowledge, I would have cancelled when they first changed if this would have been in the email. He was very DECEIVING by doing this. After a year of service he sends this message out, Good Afternoon Just heads up. We are making changes to the monthly pool service. Going forward the monthly pool service will based of a 4 week pool maintenance visit. For example this month had 5 visits and we are not charging for that 5th visits. 2/1, 2/8, 2/15, 2/22, 2/29 Oh so now you are charging per 4 weeks now moving forward, not monthly. SHADY! I called Javier and explained my issue with him, and his clerk says he's adamant about the extra charge. No problem, I don't have to hire you my pool is very easy to maintain and I have options. If you weren't SHADY and trying to sneak more money out of me in the first place I wouldn't have cancelled. I would AVOID this company, for over $200/month you can get someone that isn't a helper cleaning your pool!

The deck had to be refinished 4 times and every time they created more problems to fix, they even painted my shrubs that were planted weeks after the deck was repainted the correct color. The owner is always trying to cheat a Jack up the bill. This project started in October and we still have a broken deck seam in Mid-July. Today we were informed that the wiring used for the heater and pump are not to code and need to be replaced immediately plus the conduit is not to code either, even the chlorine dispenser was installed cross threaded. I had a question about their hot tub installation. Here's what their answer was on the phone: "Your pool is no longer warrantied, we will not be able to answer any questions." I tried to explain I was willing to pay for the information, albeit a service call. He cut me off and stated "We no longer 'service' our pools." "We only do new installs." I had an emergency. It was their install. It was their design. He hung up on me after stating "good luck." Wow! He could care less about their former customers. Btw, some woman in the background stated "get his number." He did not, but surely he had caller I.D. His attitude was EFF OFF! What an asshole.
