Called 2 days ago to find out if I could be seen by a doctor and get a prescription and was told, "yes." Asked how long it would take to get the glasses made and was told, "same day." So I made an appointment for today. Went in for my appointment and was told there was no doctor on-site, but a "qualified" (qualified... how???) person would do the exam. I asked if I could get the glasses tomorrow and was told it would take TWO WEEKS. I have been a customer of Eyeglass World in Ocala for 20 years. I am so upset right now with no response from the manager Karen. I filed a complaint on the company's web page, no response. I had my annual exam in August. I was written a contact lens prescription but waited almost 2 months to fill it. When I put in my left contact lens I could not see so I called and asked if they could pull my chart to see if the contact prescription matched the trial pair the doctor had given me and I was told that the company sold my files to a new company so I would have to call them in which I did and never got a call returned. either the prescription I have is defective or incorrect so Eyeglass World tells me to come back in and that I will have to pay $35 for a re-examination!!! I am so upset as all was paid with my insurance.. no phone call returned no compassion after 20 years Eyeglass World is totally not interested in offering me a break or helping me, no calls returned totally upset and oh yeah they are not BBB affilated so warning do not go there read more

I called last week and they say they can't send me the prescription but they can fax it to a doctors eye office. Nearest one is 4 hours in Anchorage. I call yesterday to request the fax again. This has to be the slowest glass place I have ever been to !!! 4 visit and I have spent at lease 3 hours in this place to finally get glassses. The one lady helping at the front is so off putting! Teresa :( she hands me my glasses and doesn't offer me to try them on I do have on contacts but she could have handed me one of the million free contact boxes the places has. I have never had someone penny pinch the contact boxes lol nuts ... She just wasn't warm. The other ladies are cool they saved this place from getting a 1. the doctor screwed up my script. I went to pick up my glasses and it felt like some else's when I put them on. when they double checked the glasses, the doctor had put a positive # on my script and im a negative #. so i had to come back 5 days later for a re- exam and then wait 3 more weeks for my glasses and sunglasses. I spent 55 bucks on an exam and 600 bucks on glasses of which also cost me 4 trips of gas for 45 minutes each way then had to wait over 2 months. I paid good money and should not have needed to go through all of this.... needless to say I will not be back! read more

They can't fix them and even if I did get them welded together at another place, I couldn't replace the lens that have been scratched up. I had my eye exam there and continue to purchase glasses there I seem like I waited hours for someone to help me find the correct glasses,once I purchase them I was able to pick them up the next day which was great I wore the glasses for about two 2 1/2 months the first week one of the emblems on the side fell off which I left it let it go and move On, then the second emblem on the other side thoughts about a month into owning the glasses the joint of the arm detached from the glasses I called up and spoke to Michelle she said bring the glasses in which I did she said scoops you didn't purchase insurance so it will be about $100 to replace him I looked at her and said what I only paid 2 for 100. They said there was nothing that they could do but you can tell these are very cheap glasses, My former glasses were bought from Walmart and lasted me nine years,so I went to Walmart and bought another pair of glasses and guess what they give you a one-year warranty no questions asked guarantee no matter what I think I'm sticking with Walmart for all my glasses from this moment on and I must say eyeglass world really sucks In all fairness they contacted me and really they did not want me to change the review at all I just wanted to make me happy which was great to hear I'm giving you guys an update on what happened I spoke to a rep, Who said they did not care if I change the review or not as long is I want to way happy, they spoke to the lady Michelle and told her that's not how customer service goes they also gave me $200 for a new pair of glasses at their store which I did go win was treated very nicely did get another pair glasses they even added a warranty for me I do think that maybe it was just the one employee and not the whole store anyways I'm happy with my new glasses which I picked up today read more

I am reviewing the doctor at Eyeglass World. In my 32 years of needing glasses, she gave me the perfect prescription. She is very thorough and extremely sweet. She was very busy with a full waiting room and it took a little longer than I had planned, taking time away from work, but it was worth it, after picking up my prescription (ready within about an hour!). My last visit to this store was three years ago. At that time I was lucky enough to get a skilled and professional optometrist and had a very good eye exam. I had not had an eye exam since. I know I need a new eyeglass prescription because I cannot see clearly. I also wanted to know what my eye health was because I have cataracts. So I made an appointment and this is how the fraudulent exam went. I am in the exam room waiting with my caregiver. The door opens and an extremely old man shuffles in. He does not introduce himself, he has no name tag, or no ID badge. He shuffles around the room in circles and whispers and mutters to himself. Still does not acknowledge me. He finally says "We need to check your eyes." He asks if I can see OK. I tell him no -that's why I am here, to get a new prescription. He then puts a black plastic cover over one eye and asks if I can read the letters that are supposed to be displayed on the wall mirror. I tell him NO, there are no letters to read. He then covers the other eye and asks the same thing. I try to explain that something is not right. There are no letters on the mirror. My caregiver looked at the mirror and showed the old man that the mirror was not aligned right and no letters were displayed. The old man said: "That's OK, your vision is the same with no change needed. He then moved a eye drop container back and forth in front of me and said: "Your eyes look fine." He then waved a flashlight back and forth from one eye to the other and said: "Your cataracts are so so, about 2 on a scale of 1 to 4." He would not give me a new eye glass prescription because he had done NO eye exam. All of this just to charge Medicare I am guessing. I wish there was a state medical malpractice office that would find out what is going on at this EyeGlass world location. read more

I was called 3x's to remind me of my scheduled appointment, which i remembered, but they kept calling like i owed them money. So i get there and was seen in a decent amount of time. I was then asked to wait in the lobby area. No explanation, but Ok, it's Saturday and i was prepared to wait. After reading 4 chapter's of a kindle book, i realized wow, how much longer am I supposed to wait, and what am I waiting for? I asked the desk clerk and seems I'm waiting for the actual Dr!. Go figure, i thought the chick was the Dr but I decided I had waited long enough especially without being advised or kept updated on what was next, or to come (i'm used to better customer relations) so i opted to reschedule now that i know what to expect. So I come back a week later just as they open, (and guess what no reminder call this time). I'm told i have to refill out the same form like it was my first time, and I question why? I had the wind blown in my eyes, and all the chin on the device look for the green dot thing already, so i didn't understand why I had to do it again unless you were looking to bill my insurance company twice. The desk clerk proceeds to look thru her computer, I am assuming to verify if they had what was previously done recorded, and a 2nd clerk comes in and she advises her and she looks thru folders in a cabinet and sits back at her computer. Another few mins pass and feeling ignored, i ask "were you able to verify it?" I'm told "yeah, you don't have to". So i'm feeling like if i didn't ask, were you going to offer me this info? I then replace the clipboard and walked out the door. Here's why. I work hard for my money and pay for decent if not good insurance. I deserve the same type of courtesy and customer service as the next person. When I'm made to feel like I don't matter, I choose to take my business elsewhere where I do matter and my business is appreciated. Point blank!. There are options and apparently this location is doing so well, they didn't need my business. It's a no brainer to me. So i now wait to hear from them to pay for my inconvenience. read more

Total respect for the optometrist, Dr. Quintyne. She is professional, thorough and answered my questions. Beyond that there is nothing at this location that will draw me back. I am, in fact, having my glasses made somewhere else. At Eyeglass World you see the huge sign advertising two pair of eyeglasses for $78. Of course we know that will be the lowest basic charge possible and I fully expected to pay a bit more. But no one offers the information you need at the outset. Ask a question and you will get a very limited answer but not the whole picture. So, here is what you need to know: The exam is $59, which is fair enough. You pay that at an interior office register and you are finished with that. Then you go back out to the display floor and "just pick out two frames you like." (I am smart enough to know that whichever frame was the lesser in cost is the one I would be getting free. But I don't know much about how lenses are priced.) Once you have chosen your frames you sit down with one of the techs. If you like a quiet, calming presence wait for Myra. If you like a zany, doesn't-stop-talking-loud, assumes-she's-heard-your-question-before-you're-finished-asking and is all over the place type personality, well, you will recognize her as soon as you enter the store. I liked Myra. However, you still have to know what to ask her as you go through the process as much of the information you need to know is not offered. There is a laminated card on the counter with examples of the types of lenses you can choose. You are asked which type of lens you want. There are no prices shown. Be sure to ask. As of my visit bi-focals are $80 per lens. Keep in mind that is per lens. So, $160 for your pair of glasses. If you want progressive lenses (no visible line in your lens) they start at $100, PER LENS. This lens is not recommended for 1st time progressive lens wearers as the range of correction is very narrow. The next level is $160 PER LENS. I do occasional desk work, moving my eyes from computer to phone to calculator to writing surface so I felt the next level would be better for me. The cost: $290 PER LENS. (There is also the best option that is over $400 per lens.) So far the cost to me would have been: ******* EXAM $59, FRAME $129, PROGRESSIVE LENSES ($290 x 2) = $580, for a total of ******$768.****** (If I downgraded to bi-focal lenses my cost would have been $348. I also could have chosen the cheapest frames and brought my cost down to $297.) Granted, I would have had 2 pair of glasses for $768, but that's a far cry from the 'pull-you-in' advertising of 2 pair for $78. From there you can add the cost of tinting if you need it and the product protection plan, which when it is first introduced as a one time charge of $25 (for the 1st pair, $15 for the 2nd)- and they will replace your glasses no matter what, sounds good, but it was either not mentioned or glossed right over that the warranty is only good for the 1st year. I don't need to wear glasses all the time. Desk work and driving. So, though the offer is to get your 2nd pair free, the bottom line shows you are paying for it. So, I left Eyeglass World with my prescription and am having a pair of glasses made at a small, local optometrists office. I will only have 1 pair of glasses but that is all I need and my cost will be less. For someone who wears their glasses all the time Eyeglass World (or any of the other Get One Free providers) may be a good choice, but if your location offers only short answers as you try to understand what you're in for, keep asking until you fully understand what your cost is. P.S. - If you want to know what your vision is you must ask the Optometrist and write it down yourself. I inquired later and was told my vision is 20/20, though I had a script for significant correction in both eyes. When asked how that could be I was told that they don't keep your actual visual acuity numbers anywhere. It's not written down, it's not in their system, they don't know. If you get the glasses you will have 20/20 vision and that's that. Overall, Eyeglass World was a negative experience for me. read more

I for one am glad that your office does not allow pets in the store. I'm getting fairly tired of this nonsense of people walking into public buildings with animals that are not service animals. It is a doctors office, where people are getting their eyes examined. Yes there are body fluids as people are having their eyes dilated and trying new contacts that are inserted directly into the eye. Animal dander is not something to have floating around in the air. I am an animal owner and a responsible pet owner! If your animal happens to bite someone, because it is scared or gets upset. Animal services will take your precious pet and it will be put down. If you love your pet then think about the consequences of bringing this pet out into public. I routinely have my grandchild with me and the day one of you "so called animal lovers" brings in an animal that bites, growls at or scares my toddler I will sue you and the business. read more
