Although I have lived in Ocala now for a few years, I still have not set up all the medical specialists I need to see. I have been driving back to Broward for my annual eye exam since we moved here because I luckily have not had any issues with my eyes. I also love my optometrist there! I recently had an issue with my eyes, where I my vision was impaired and sort of seeing zig zag flashes. As we all do, I went to researching what it could be and all signs were pointing to retinal detachment. I went into panic mode, called my optometrist in Broward, and they directed me to go to an ER and request an on call emergency optometrist. When I called an ER, they said there is no such thing in Ocala, which I figured. So I decided to try showing up first thing in the am to Dr. Lentsch's office, hoping to receive care. Upon walking into the office, we were greeted immediately and offered assistance. I explained what was going on and the front desk associate said the Dr could not see me right away but she was able to squeeze me in the afternoon. Sucked because I had to move my schedule around but I had no idea what I was dealing with and I immensely appreciated the last minute fit in. She gave me paperwork to fill out, bring back, and took all my information then to be prepared for my appointment. We came back for our appointment and we were greeted with same friendliness as the morning. I handed over the paperwork and also informed her I filled it out online because it was sent to me in the interim. I was called in not too long after by another assistant. She asked assessment questions, performed some tests, then guided me to the exam room to wait for Dr. Lentsch. Dr. Lentsch came in not too long after, introduced himself, and shook my hand. Dr. Lentsch confirmed everything I had reported on the paperwork, along with my own report I created since the problem initiated. After dilating my eyes and looking over everything, I was informed that everything looked great and it was most likely Ocular Migraines. Dr. Lentsch suggested I get a CT scan, just to rule out anything serious. I was so relieved and Dr. Lentsch is one of those professionals you need in an anxious time. I was informed on my way out, at the front desk, that I should receive a bill in the mail. I excessively thanked the staff for taking me last minute and for their assistance and left. The Dr. and his staff are very professional and nice. However the opticians leave a lot to be desired. There seems to be a small amount of eyeglasses to choose from. I have a very strong prescription and as such try to find the thinnest lenses and lightest frames. After my exam my eyes were dilated and I was sent out to discuss lenses and frames. As I am very nearsighted and my eyes were dilated it was somewhat difficult to see and compare. I asked which frames they had that were the lightest and they didn't really seem to know much about the different frames. They only showed me a couple of options (lenses and frames) and didn't seem to be very interested in helping me decide which would be the best for me. Fit , price etc. Just try them on and make a decision. After trying on the few pairs they offered I picked one. I hadn't discussed the total amount before I was called back for the dilation exam. When I was through I was quite surprised at how much the total cost was. My stepdad was paying and had already completed the transaction and insisted I get the glasses. If I knew in advance how much it was going to be I would have definitely gone somewhere else for the glasses. I very much appreciated what he was spending and wanted to save him as much as I could. To wrap this review up I would recommend Dr. Lentsch and his staff. However I recommend going elsewhere to purchase your eyeglasses if you want a bigger selection ( better prices) and more detailed health choosing them. read more

I have been looking for an eye doctor in Ocala since 2019; this is the first office that I didn't make me wait at least half an hour after my scheduled time (and I *always* get to doctor appointments at least 10 minutes early). This is the first office that asked me about my symptoms. This is the first office that listened to my answers. I was given options when possible, and I highly recommend the pictures instead of the traditional dilation - because he then showed me the pictures of my retina and explained what he was seeing. He now also has a record in case changes occur. Fabulous experience. I wish I could give him more stars. read more

NOT READY FOR PRIMETIME!!!! After my annual check up he changed my eyeglass prescription and sold me lenses for hundreds of dollars. Several weeks later I developed itchyness and a slight discharge - including blurred vision. Upon an exam for that complaint, he deemed it an infection and prescribed drops. They didn't help. Saw me again and precribed different drops. They didn't help. Called office and relayed the news. He then prescribed more drops (OTC) called Pataday. They did nothing. So after over two months of discomfort, he finally realized he may be out of his league and referred me to an opthamologist.... who diagnosed the issue (cataracts) within five minutes. I'd be EXTREMELY WARY of an optometrist unable to recognize cataracts when they were staring him in the face. Try Ocala Eye. They have 11 opthamolgists and a large optometry department as well. Six off ices in the Ocala area and two Surgery Centers with a third under construction. Very professional AND capable. read more

Having recently moved to the area and in need of all new doctors, I've had the spectrum of experiences. Only two of which I'm without words as to how happy that I am. My son's ENT, and Dr. Lentsch. I can't say enough about how good he is, how well he answered every question that I had, and how I in no way felt rushed like he was trying to get through my exam to get to another person. Other aspects that are worth mentioning: ** All the staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. ** My appointment was on time and I didn't have to wait beyond the scheduled appointment. ** The facility is clean and up to date, including the restroom. ** I am "self pay" (no insurance) and was very pleased that the complete exam that I received was only $85. The only thing I'd like to see different, is for them to set up a guest WiFi access and give out that password as we wait. read more

I was looking for a new eye doctor because my other one was so pricey. Dr.Lentsch was super! Very reasonable at $85 for self pay! Very nice guy and explained everything. I will send everyone I know to his office. I think he and his staff are super! Although the lady who does the glasses needs to amp up her personality, but maybe she was having an off day, we all do. I had an emergency appointment for my daughter today due to the lack of compassion with her Physician's office. I was greeted by the receptionist Roma that helped me through the process of getting my daughter seen right away. We met Dr. Lentsch. He was professional and caring for my daughter's eye injury.
