This is the experience I had with Ritz in Belleview. Make sure they take your insurance and then MAKE SURE again. I just want to let you know how disappointed I am. I called at the end of 2016 to get an appointment for my daughter Madison Crenshaw in January 2017 when her new insurance took effect. I specifically asked you if you were providers for Blue Select and gave you her plan number. I was told yes, you took Blue Select. I also explained she needed contacts but was having a fit issue that she wanted to talk to Dr. Rawls about before I re-ordered them. I wanted to wait until 2017 to come in because she would have coverage for the visit and I wouldn't have to pay out of pocket. In 2016 she had the HMO of Blue Cross which you don't take. I paid $10.00 for a trial pair of contacts for her and made the appointment for January 3. I asked Madison to make sure you took her insurance BEFORE she was examined and she was told yes. When she goes to leave she's presented with a bill for $220. I asked to speak to someone and was told yes you take Blue Select but are not providers for DavisVision. How convenient I was given this information AFTER SHE WAS SEEN. I would have to pay OUT OF POCKET and wait to be reimbursed. I asked for a copy of the claim form to be sent home with her so I could make sure we got reimbursed. After speaking with Blue Select and Davis Vision this morning I was told that yes you do in fact take Blue Select but only for medical purposes NOT for vision checks, contacts glasses etc. You knew she was there for a vision check only and to get contacts. You know you are not a Davis Vision provider but still led me to believe that YES you took her insurance which technically is not a lie, however, is not exactly the truth either. I believe you misled me on purpose KNOWING I would end up paying despite the fact that I had 2 separate conversations with your office about insurance and coverage. I am so absolutely disappointed and angry that you would purposely mislead me this way. If I would have known this I would have taken her to a provider who takes her insurance and paid next to nothing. She has a $0 copay and a $150 contact lens allowance that INCLUDES the fitting and exam. I feel robbed. Needless to say, we won't be back to get robbed again. The sad part is we really like Dr. Rawls. She's a great doctor and it's a shame the office treats people this way. read more

There was no big pressure to buy expensive frames and they were helpful in helping my mother and I pick out frames. read more

I have been going to Ritz for about 5 years now and up till now I haven't had an issue. The exams are ok, the office staff is pleasant. I had a recent experience where I wanted to keep the frames on a pair of eye glasses that came apart in the corner. The office said they only needed to order a small part. That was in February. I have called back repeatedly and went to the office twice to be told, "it should be received next week". Then I finally spoke to an office manager who looked into it and said that the frames were sent back with me pending the part and it looks like they can't get the part in. That makes no sense! Why would I take frames back just to bring them back in again to be left while they are fixed. I left my frames WITH the office pending the part since they would need them to fix them. I'm very disappointed that I am going on a year without these glasses. And now I qualify for new frames, which looks like I'll have to do since the original broken frames "cannot be located". read more

I have gotten good service at Ritz Eyecare in the past but my last visit was a disaster. First, I showed up and for my appointment and the place was closed. I and another lady waited 10 minutes until the staff rolled in, 5 minutes after my appointment time! Then they plopped down behind the desk and sat around for another 10 minutes until I finally rescheduled my appointment. When I did get to see the doctor, I couldn't see with the prescription he gave me. At the time he told me I was old, I would just have to live with not being able to see well. I called and requested the prescription be adjusted and the second prescription was not any better. At last, I gave up and asked to have my old prescription refilled and it was such a relief! It was so much better than the new ones. I then got an additional bill two months later. I called and asked to speak to the owner and was given an email I was assured was his. I sent him everything in this review. He never bothered to reply. The lack of customer service is evident from the bottom to the very top of this organization. read more

I wish all of my health care experiences were as pleasant as my experience with Ritz Eye Care. Ashley the medical assistant was a great way to start my visit at Ritz Eye Care. She presents with a wonderful balance of personal and professional. She is so pleasant and thorough. Dr Rawls' professionalism is unmatched in my experience with eye care medical professionals. The exam was very efficient yet not rushed at all. I felt comfortable and understood the eye exam process. Shane was a great way to wrap up my first visit at Ritz Eye Care. I had googled eyeglass frames and had an idea of what I wanted in my new eyeglass frames. I was prepared with companies and model numbers. Shane listened carefully and I felt he understood what I was looking for in my new frames. After spending some time eliminating options, Shane encouraged me to try a few frames outside of my list. The second or third frame he suggested was perfect. I knew I had found my new eyeglass frame. I never felt rushed. Shane was very patient with me. He is very good at what he does. We reviewed the lens options and we were done. This was a great first visit. The only reason for four stars instead of five was my initial two telephone contacts to attempt to make an appointment. Fortunately my father was a client of Ritz Eye Care and encouraged me to try again. The third contact worked and I finally scheduled my appointment. I can hardly wait for my new glasses.
