Dirty carpets. Stained, sticky, covered in debris. Not cleaned in some time!
    James T.

I booked a room for 2 at the Madera, CA location from August 20th, 2021 to August 23, 2021. All in all, the experience was a complete nightmare! I have NEVER in my life, stepped foot into a hotel that was so beyond disgustingly filthy. As soon, as we entered our original room (# 211), we knew nothing was going to be as advertised. Nothing follows protocol as their site (via the Red Lion corporate chain site) specifically states, "Americas Best Value Inn & Suites Madera offers the most value for your money when staying for business, pleasure, or just passing through. We are an AAA 3-Diamond hotel with clean spacious rooms..." .They are far from 3-star! If I were to call the health department, there is good debate that this hotel would be closed down to health concerns, immediately. Upon entering our original room, 211, we contacted the front desk. The male employee was very polite and attentive. He followed us back to the room and immediately addressed the situation, agreeing that the room should not have been rented out in the state that it was in. He took us back downstairs and was only able to give us a new room (212), which was a very slight improvement. Upon doing so, the comment was given that they were short handed on cleaning staff due to covid and by mistake room 211 must have been overlooked that day. We trusted this, but 212 proved to be just as bad. Having been in town for family matters, unable to get another room at such short notice, we opted to stay. However, it didn't take long to pull back bed coverings, etc and see that this room was just slightly less dirty than the last. The bedside tables were covered in what seemed to be spilled coffee and milk, that had lacquered to the side, clearly not cleaned for weeks, and presenting the smell of rot. The curtains were covered in white stains. The dust was deep enough to write in with your finger. The shower presented lime, mold, and stains. The list goes on. We opted to go to the local grocery store and purchased bleach, disinfectant spray, clorox wipes, paper towels, air freshener etc. in the attempt to clean the room. We spent the next hour and a half cleaning our OWN room so that it was somewhat manageable. This filth was documented and we wrapped all the towels, etc. used for cleaning, up on a clean bath towel and took it downstairs to the front desk, where we politely handed over the evidence of filth, to the front desk rep. We kindly told him that we didn't recommend he open it at the desk, but take it somewhere in the back, away from other guests, to see the amount of grotesque we cleaned ourselves. We proceeded to ask for additional sheets and pillow cases, as the beds presented tears and stains, adding to the fear that the place was infested not only with cockroaches (as we have pictures), but also bed bugs, scabies, or whatnot. The next day, with the carpets being stained, sticky, and full of debris from not being cleaned correctly for quite some time, we asked if we could personally use the hotel's vacuum to clean with quickly. After some apprehension, and telling us maid service would do it, they allowed us to use the vacuum. For, why have maid service do it, when it is very evident that they do not clean correctly in the slightest form?! Upon anytime we requested another bath towel or clean sheet for duration of the stay, we were questioned suspiciously as to why we needed them. "We need them because your place is beyond filthy! We used the other ones to clean what you didn't clean previously." I swear that had I simply had time to call the health department, this place would have been closed down. This place advertises as a 3-star hotel via their corporate listed site, as I had already mentioned, and yet the pictures, obviously very outdated, do not match the presentation at all. This is appalling on every level. I have never in my life had to endure such a nightmare of a hotel situation like this. During a global pandemic, this location has the audacity to scam it's customers into entering and being stuck in a room that presents countless health concerns and risks. It is clear no covid precautions have been taken. This is ironic, as the night before we arrived, we received an email from them stating that the pool, jacuzzi and breakfast services were now cancelled due to covid precautions. I am all for this, if it means the safety of others. However, despite even having a printed "masks must be worn in lobby, etc" taped the the door-- NONE of the hotel staff, including front desk workers and cleaning teams ever wore a mask! It was simply just another guise of following protocol when in fact it was beyond evident no protocol was being taken seriously. I have contacted Priceline, whom I booked the hotel through, and they advised that I contact my credit card and corporate office about these concerning matters. I have done so and now await feedback. Final Warning: Stay Away from this location!!!!

My company booked me into this place on 6/15/18 and this is what I discovered. Do not book this hotel folks, last minute or not. Just sleep in ur car. I really believed I could take something home on me from that dirty place. Thank God I got into Holliday Inn Express! Oh and it's next door to a huge Pilot Truck Stop so ur female companion or child can easily be kidnapped or assaulted!!!! Did I mention all I could smell in my hallway was marijuana?

Wow. Where to start. Last minute trip to Madera (translated, wood) and this was the only place I could get into. Pretty sure it was a swank place in the early 1980's and no one has touched a thing since. First thing you'll notice is the pothole in the entrance. Not a regular pothole, but one that could second as an outdoor pool in the summer. Check in at the front counter was fairly smooth, the young lady was nice and efficient. Walked down the hallway, opened the door to the room and I was overwhelmed by the smell of Ben Gay and musk. Dropped my bags and noticed the inside of the door looked like it'd been attacked by David Kessler from American Werewolf in London. Next I noticed a cluster of cigarette holes burning into the bedding. I got on line and everything within 50 miles was booked. So I'm stuck. Avoid this place at all costs.

Stayed one night during the weekend and thought it was overall a convenient place to crash and fair value. Breakfast included: - cereal - oatmeal - scramble eggs - biscuits and gravy - turkey patties and pork sausage - assorted breads, packaged muffins and cinnamon rolls - juice fountain, milk in the refrigerator, and yogurt There was also a simple fitness center (has a water dispenser inside, cold and room temperature water) and a pool onsite with a hot tub. At night the staff got very busy cuz it seemed like only one person was covering everything. But they are friendly and helpful. Can ask the front desk for free toothpaste and toothbrush. One notable con is that there were no hot water kettles nor a hot water dispenser in the lobby (except during breakfast). (How do u drink the teas?) Hot coffee was available in the lobby and in the room using a Keurig machine. Ended up using the microwave to heat up water.

Soon as you walk in the electric doors I could tell the difference. The beautifully decorated lobby, the plush dining area for breakfast, the food pantry. All that our last hotel was lacking. The dining room is huge. Tables, booths, and open space. It holds so many people. Maybe 10 tables, 4 people per table 40 people. The last hotel had 4 tables at 4 person per table, 26 people. So much bigger and spread out. Breakfast is a hot and cold breakfast. The last hotel was just the cold breakfast. Here there were egg muffins sandwiches, quiche, and soufflés. 3 kinds of cold cereal, including my fav red berries. Chocolate, reg, and oat milk. Our last hotel lacked milk and cereal and hard boiled eggs. Hard boiled eggs, waffle machine, muffins and loafs, bagels , toast, ect. And of course there was a coffee and tea bar. The room wasn't as a good set up as our last one. Our last one had a bistro table and chairs and the desk and chair. A good set up to play cards or watch tv. The room was fresh, clean, and had no smell. We had a king bed, fridge, microwave, coffee makers, actual closet with iron and board. This hotel had a gym with treadmills, elliptical machine, weights, kettle balls, and exercise balls. Both hotels had pools, this one also had a hot tub. Overall this was a wonder hotel and I highly reccomend it to others. It's in the middle of a strip of shopping, eateries, gas stations, car washes, ect.

Review: Knights Inn Hotel - Discrimination Against Homeless Veteran and Service Animal…read moreMy recent experience at the Knights Inn hotel was deeply disturbing and frankly, unacceptable. As a homeless veteran accompanied by my legitimate service animal, I was met with blatant discrimination that violated both federal and state laws. Upon attempting to check in, I was subjected to questioning about my service animal that went far beyond what is legally permissible. The owner demanded "documentation" and seemed to imply my veteran status or homelessness somehow negated my right to have my service animal with me. This line of questioning is not only intrusive but directly contrary to the rights afforded to individuals with disabilities. Furthermore, the general attitude and treatment I received felt dismissive and prejudiced. It was clear that my circumstances were being judged, and this judgment extended to my service animal, who is a crucial part of my daily life and well-being. Regarding the law, it is imperative that the Knights Inn, and all public accommodations, understand and adhere to the following: * Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA): Under the ADA, service animals are not pets. Hotels cannot deny access to a person with a disability accompanied by a service animal, even if they have a "no pets" policy. They cannot charge extra fees or deposits for service animals. Hotels are generally only permitted to ask two questions: * Is the animal required because of a disability? * What work or task has the animal been trained to perform? They cannot ask for documentation, require the animal to demonstrate its task, or inquire about the nature of the person's disability. Service animals must be allowed in all areas where the public is permitted. * California Law: California law aligns with the ADA, further protecting individuals with disabilities and their service animals. California Civil Code sections, such as § 54.1 and § 54.2, explicitly grant individuals with disabilities the right to be accompanied by their service animals in public accommodations, including hotels. Additionally, California Penal Code sections like PC 365.5 make it a misdemeanor to prevent or interfere with a disabled person's rights to use their service animal. There are also protections under fair housing laws that extend to individuals in shelters and those who are homeless, recognizing the importance of assistance animals. The actions of the Knights Inn staff were a clear violation of these fundamental rights. Discrimination against a veteran, especially one experiencing homelessness, and denying access to a trained service animal is not just poor customer service; it is illegal and morally reprehensible. I hope this review serves as a warning to other potential guests and, more importantly, prompts the Knights Inn management to immediately educate their staff on disability rights and service animal laws to prevent such discriminatory incidents from happening again. Every individual, regardless of their housing status, deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, and their rights, particularly those related to service animals, must be upheld without question.

Chuckchansi Gold Resort & Casino, located in Coarsegold, CA, isn't your glamorous Las Vegas style…read morecasino, but it's something more special for locals and travelers. Sure, the music isn't that upbeat as at Yaamava Resort & Casino in Highland, CA and yet Chuckchansi is a smaller casino and resort. There are a lot of things that make Chuckchansi stand out more than your typical Las Vegas and other Indian tribal casinos in CA. 5/5 Location Chuckchansi is only a few hours away from the famous Yosemite National Park depending on the road conditions and traffic. Also, they have their own 24/7 gas station and a mini-mart near the property. Only 35 mins to 45 mins drive from Fresno/Clovis, CA. 5/5 Hotel I was assigned to the rooms in the #200 building, which was a bit outdated. If you turn on the AC too high it will make a moped rattle noise, but if you set it to medium, the noise should go away. The room has 2 complimentary bottles of water, and coffee and teas. They even have a mini fridge along with good cable TV channels. There are plenty of charging stations and outlets in the room if you need to charge your phone, etc. On the plus side, there's free parking & valet, no resort fees, and the deposit amount is between $50 to $200 depending on how many nights you're staying. I got my deposit back real quick. It took only 1 day, unlike LV it will take more than 5 business days or more to get it released back to your credit card SMDH. 5/5 Service The front desk hotel team member named Anna was friendly and inviting when I checked in at the hotel front desk. Also, their security team members take safety as a priority when they actually check your photo ID and your room number each time you go to your room. I know it's an inconvenience to some people, but i'm all for it. 4/5 Slot machines pay out People on Yelp claim Chukchansi slot machines are too tight. I have to disagree. I saw some players win the Mega or Grand on a min .75 cents bet. On some days, I was really lucky and some days not so much. That's how the game is, so don't complain if you can't afford to lose some $$. 3/5 Casino atmosphere some days the second-hand smoke is really strong and very ashy, they play some real oldies music because most of their players are older crowds. They still have old school slots which some of you players are not a fan of. Overall, the casino floor is decent for its size, but I wish they had some updated music and newer slot machines, more designated non-smoking areas for slot players. Food choices 4/5 They brought back their CA Market Place Buffet, their crab nights every Fri & Sat are really affordable compared to other Indian tribal casino buffets throughout CA. They also have other eateries, like Noh' O café, Vintage steakhouse, Noodle Bar, a bakery that opens 24/7 that serves quick bites and much more. There are other eateries just go to their main website under all dining options. Chuckchansi Gold Resort & Casino is my main go to if i'm not playing in LV. Most tribal casinos throughout CA got rid of their buffets. I think Chuckchansi made the right move to bring it back. I hope it helps increase their foot traffic. I 100% recommend visiting or staying at Chuckchansi Gold Resort & Casino located in Coarsegold CA. You can thank me later.

(I wasn't sure if valet parking was complimentary or extra) We asked if we can park on that spot for a second and check-in and unload, she said it's fine just go closer to the curb and she proceeded to her next valet car to park. My partner gets out and we were discussing to get a trolley for our stuff and there was none available and this was early night 7pm, good thing I had my cart in the vehicle, as my partner went to go check in we got stopped by the guard at the front, telling us otherwise of what the valet car girl told us. He told us, don't park there even though I mentioned we are checking in, and I'm unloading the car, so I told him the valet car lady told us, we can do this and park our car. His reasoning was that they are giving citations for people parking there (but aren't your hotel guest cars parked in the front? Especially the valet's cars, is what I would've said if I was feeling like a smart ass, but I kept that to myself) after telling what she told me, he said okay. And that's the first part for more things! My partner check-in and he was helped by a gentleman that didn't look like he wanted to be there doing that job, not very welcoming, this man did not give a introduction to their resort, didn't tell him the amenities or facilities so basically what they offered. After they looked for the other party they told him that they offer free valet parking, which would been helpful if that girl told us it was free in the beginning, if people here are afraid to tell people parking is free to lessen their load work or because people don't tip, that's just not the right way to conduct business or be in customer service at all. Next we go into the room, check everything and everything seems ok, I even did a room check video, which I will post on my tiktok and instagram account. But not until I turned on the lights, surprisingly the bedroom look so much better, with a single premium room I didn't expect anything less, but then I went to the bathroom by the sink, light was dead. I asked my partner to report it, and they called for maintenance to check it, he promised to have someone a electrician to check in the morning as early as 6am to 7am, we woke up both times and no knocks at all till later time waiting and no one came. We moved on about the issue but figured we will report it when we check-out. But our plans to go to Yosemite was foiled because of waiting. My partner kept waking up every hour to check the door. The room was a premium single bedroom, it looked nice and complete only to find out they don't have a microwave in the room, which was a big downer, we asked if we can request a microwave, you can get one but it's $20 dollars per night to have one, I said forget it. Thank you. The night before we checked out, we asked what time was check out and they informed us it was 11am and we asked if there was late check out, for another hour was $10 and we thought we had the option to do that in the morning and so when we called the front desk guy, was very seemed very stern and dry that they can't accommodate that, without atleast giving a reason as to why, that is not possible. All these is why I give it 2 stars, the room looked clean and pretty, the building look good. But the other thing was we wanted Smokey free floor but yet you can still smell the cigarette smokes in our 4th floor room, sadly. The housekeeping was great, I asked for extra towels and soaps and shampoo they came on time within 15 minutes and she even followed up with a call. When we checked out, at the front desk Jeffrey M. was nice enough to listen to Us about the light issue and offered compensation, which we ended up accepting and the Kiara the manager gave us a discount on our stay which was nice. The Casino and restaurant were great except the deuces dinner inside the hotel casino building.
