From about 20 miles north of Charlotte to Rock Hill, we discovered an I-77 parking lot, with traffic moving from 0 - 17 mph. Traffic finally opened near Rock Hill. Fairfield Inn and Suites Rock was easy off/on in a very pleasant suburb. This is a newer and well maintained property with a professional staff; we dined at adjacent restaurant at Holiday Inn Express because of rave reviews. I used to be a diehard Hilton patron but every stay seems worse than the next. I won't even complain ( because I could) or even post photos of this disappointing hotel room. Once I turned the thermostat off and on it worked. Bonus, they had lots of green space to walk my dog. My only complaint was I was in a room with an adjoining door. And until I turned the TV on I could hear the conversation happening in the room beside me. He was not being loud, I just think he was close to the door and the door was not sound proof enough. The hotel was also close to a mall, restaurants and gas stations. The morning of check out I went for breakfast at 9 AM. They had to go containers so I picked up scrambled eggs, sausage, a biscuit topped with sausage gravy, fruit and hot tea. I was impressed with the breakfast, especially the biscuit and sausage gravy! I plan to book a room here for all of my future trips to my parents. Try them out as I do not think you will be disappointed. For the price, it was a quality place to stay.

They are pet friendly with a fee, which is understandable. We brought our dogs, and felt safe walking them around the property to go potty. I almost never eat the free breakfast, because, again, I am super nitpicky, but they had muffins, coffee and fruit that was good. My husband and son enjoyed omelets and sausage. The fact that the hotel is DOG FRIENDLY makes me SO happy. They allow dogs of all sizes and the rooms (at least ours) are absolutely dog friendly - no carpet! So, if Fido DOES have an accident, it's easily cleaned. That being said, there's no reason your pup should have an accident because there are plenty of dog potty stations complete with baggies and disposal. There's a wide array of snacks and drinks available for purchase and the continental breakfast blew my mind. Gone are the days of stale muffins and mushy fruit! They had egg bites that rivaled Starbucks, Lavazza coffee, biscuits, sausage, toast, cereal, hot tea, and the most amazing little pancake machine that cranks out two pancakes in two minutes. It just smelled fresh and clean and it WAS. I spilled some water on the floor and when I wiped it up, the white towel was still just as white as when I put it down there. Clean, clean, clean! No hair in the showers or sinks, not a towel out of place. I hope management treats the cleaning crew like queens and kings, because this hotel is SPARKLING clean. Lastly, I adore that they use Not Radio soaps, lotions, and shampoos. Truly, this hotel has thought of everything you could possibly need and they've made it convenient as well. I wish I could remember her name. Anyway, she got me a room at the lowest price. I was on the side facing I-77, but I could hear NO highway noise at all. One Queen bed, flat screen TV mounted on the wall. A refrigerator and microwave hidden away in a cabinet. I had a bad headache settling in behind my eyes from spending all day in the sun. I went back to the front desk as I noticed they had sundry items for sale. The strawberry blond haired lady was with her niece, but stopped everything to give me some of her own ibuprofen so I would not have to purchase it, and I got some Gatorade. That was SO nice of her, she did not have to do that at all. There was a small café area in the lobby, but I did not get anything from there. I am so grateful for this lovely hotel. I will be back again if I am in the area again. It is very close to the highway and easy to get in and out. There is an Outback Steakhouse within walking distance as well. Several gas stations are close by to get gas and go.

Yet, I was placed in a room right beside the image below, where transient workers came and went all day. There are no security checks, anyone can enter the hotel and take the elevator to any floor, and no one answers the front desk phone. After endless ringing, I went downstairs at 11pm to find a sign stating "We are temporarily away from the front desk and will return shortly." It's 12:03am and no one has returned. I suppose Marriott's definition of "shortly" is relative.
