So the Torsion Springs on my garage door broke recently. What to do? I quickly looked up some references from my local discount magazine and made calls for quotes. America's Garage Doors stood out to me. They were professional over the phone, they provided a competitive quote and was able to give me a service window within that same day. Hours later, they were at my house ready to go. But before they proceeded with such repair, Brad (the technician) offered some additional things that needed changing which in turn can lengthen the life of my Garage Door Opener, as well as provide much quieter garage door operation. All in all, I decided to have those things added. What I like about it was Brad was not pushy at all about his sales and service approach. He was friendly and knowledgeable. Now on to the service.... I called America's Garage Door when mine stopped halfway down and jammed. They were prompt to send a tech who was immediately able to diagnose the problem as a broken tension cable on one side. He replaced the cables on both sides and adjusted the door. 30 minutes of work time. The total invoice was more than $450. And that was with "coupons" applied. I appreciate their promptness and service quality. That fee, however, was, in my opinion, excessive for 30 minutes of work and minor parts. I will not call on them again. read more

I needed someone to connect two remote control devices to my garage door opener to my fully functioning garage door. I contacted America's Garage Door after seeing their ad in Mint Magazine. The person who answered said he could install a NEW opener for only $300 more than simply connecting the two new remotes. I asked why I would want to do that when the garage door opener was functioning perfectly fine. He was abrupt and curt and said he'd send someone over the next morning between 8-10 a.m. Then before I could even ask another question he hung up the phone on me. The installer showed up at 9:30 a.m. and I asked him if he knew why he was here. He said, "No, the boss never tells me that." First RED FLAG! This guy was even more rude and even more condescending than the owner who first answered my call. He told me to replace the whole thing without even looking at it. I told him I didn't need his business and he could leave. I'm happy to replace it if I indeed need it, but with a total lack of professionalism and common courtesy I will take my business elsewhere. He was at my house less than ten minutes, most of that time spent talking to his boss about some other (heated) issue. He charged me $54 for doing NOTHING! I phoned Precision Garage Doors and they were extremely professional, timely, courteous! Wish I had tried them FIRST! read more

We were very happy when we got our reasonably priced quote for a garage door plus trim and they said they had it in stock and could install it the next business day because other companies we talked to said there was a two month wait to receive the product. We were very happy with the work performed by Austin. He was very professional in every way from communicating with us about any delays in his arrival time to being meticulous in assuring that everything looked great and functioned properly before leaving the premises. Scheduled an appointment for a window of 8a-12p and was told that they would call on the way over. Both my wife and work from home and I had specifically blocked off the morning for them. No call, No show by noon. A tech finally shows up, without calling ahead, at 1:40pm. I informed him that the window that I had for them was what they told me...8a-12p. He asked if someone had called to let me know he was running late, which they had not. I know that they have my correct number because they texted me after I made the appointment. I told him that I had to cancel the appointment (technically they canceled by not showing up on time) because I had to return to work. This was their first impression and they failed. There is NO way that would hire them if they don't respect my time as a client. I would NOT recommend this company. If I could have given them 0 stars, I would, because they what they actually earned. Stay away. read more

I requested for an estimate and I was given a time frame when the technician will come. I got a call and the tech said he will be about half an hour late, he showed up an hour late. I didn't mind, he might have a lot of estimates to do. I asked him to enter the side gate while my son opens it. After about a couple of minutes a hear this guy with a loud voice saying that are we going to open the door. Not only that he was making derogatory comments whether someone in the house speaks English. So I told him if he can't wait he can just leave. I bought a new (used) garage in my complex and it was not sealed at the bottom..The first American Garage Door guy came and I purchased a new rubber piece for the bottom of the door..He said that it would take 40 minutes, but was done in 10 minutes...He gave me some helpful hints about sealing the side with foam and caulking...I closed myself inside to check for outside light and if it was sealed and the automatic light didn't go out after about 20 minutes..so I called the company back..2) Two different guys came the next time and they fixed the light by installing a switch that I purchased and I paid them to install the switch and a new emergency lock...My neighbor noticed that the rubber piece on the bottom was coming out of place as it rubbed on the frame of the garage door upon opening...3) Two different guys came and he made a couple adjustments and screwed into the rubber piece that I purchased on the bottom in such a way that one end doesn't touch the ground and now water gets in..the water appears to get up inside the end of the rubber part on the bottom and there is a gap...4) one day last week I stopped at the business up near a Beach Boulevard and spoke to the owner..When I told him water was leaking from the end of the installed rubber base after screws were inserted in the piece, his response was "that's impossible". Sadly, this could not remedied or even looked at by someone at that company that knew what they were doing. read more

Good business practices. Technician came when I was at work and unintentionally did more work then was asked for the visit and charged accordingly. This was addressed with the manager and rather then trying to justify the overcharge and make things difficult he apologized, clarified the issue, and refunded the overage quickly. I asked for an estimate to replace my springs, rollers, and motor. I was abundantly clear that all I wanted was an estimate. The guy shows up and wants me to pay a service call. To give an estimate. After talking with someone in his office and reiterating that I did not call for service and was not paying a service call charge, they agree to give me an estimate. Never asked what type of system I wanted, never asked what quality springs I wanted, never asked about features I want on the system. About 30 minutes later I get an email with ZERO pricing, just a checklist saying everything on my existing system is fair or poor. Expensive lesson learned. Always get a quote before using any company for home repair. I know this , but called this company because they installed my garage door opener three years ago and did a good job. They just installed two new springs to fix my garage door the other day and charged me $378 just for the springs. After paying this shocking bill I called other garage door companies for a quote and the same springs cost $298. Rip-off!! My fault, but I will never use this company again!!! read more
