We hired Mitch McCue to redo our kitchen. It was a disaster from the beginning: causing a flood in our home, taking much longer than promised/never finished, ruining our original hardwood floors, incorrectly installing countertops, breaking our stove, billing us for work they never performed, and then sending harassing and threatening messages demanding money when we were still waiting for them to complete the project. It was so bad we had to contact the police. They then put a lien on our house and we have been in this legal battle for 2 years. When we then looked into reviews we found we weren't alone: - "This business over-promises and under-delivers." - "charge you for jobs that they do not complete" - "Mitchell McCue believes he is accountable to no one" - "Deposited a large amount of my money in his account and then did not honor the deal nor did he pay back the amount he said he would" - "Worst experience...Mitch talks a great game. Highly disappointed with the service I received while using their services to list my home. I left numerous messages, texts, and emails advising I was pending their work completion in order to list my home. I finally had to get my realtor involved (who was fantastic) just in order to get an update of timeframe for completion. I spoke with the receptionist and explained the situation and she assured me numerous times she would get to the bottom of it and to this day she has never reached out to me. After receiving pictures of some of the completed project, I called immediately and asked Mitch to clean up the fireplace as it looked absolutely terrible. He stated he would be happy to take care of it as he made the executive decision to not fix it to completion and to an aesthetically pleasing state and because of the numerous delays on their part. After again getting my realtor involved as we were pending this fix to list the home and they refused to respond to me, I received a quote for $175 for the item they said they would take care of. I am not sure what happened to this company. I read all of the positive reviews before we hired them for a home remodel and am now wondering if the reviews were just from friends or family or AI generated. Before you read any further please realize that I have only left a handful of reviews in my life, but felt compelled to leave one for this. We received a lot of promises from McCue but the quality of the work was VERY poor, the workers hardly ever worked (and hung out in our driveway mostly) with zero over site by McCue, and the best part was that the work took 6 months longer than were we told. We must have exchanged 100 calls and texts in order to actually get this company to do their work, but in the end we are left with a barely functioning HVAC, construction waste everywhere, and uncaulked trim that is hanging sideways (not the look that we were going for). We were told when we initially started the job that this would be about an 8 week job ("we are over supply chain issues"). After 8 months of hearing about excuses as to why the job was not complete, we were through with them. We were told that the broken new HVAC (that they installed) was going to be replaced. In fact, McCue said that they installed a new unit because the initial new unit that they installed, did not work properly. After checking this out for myself, they in fact did NOT replace the unit as I was told. When I called him out of this, he said that he was then unsure if the unit was actually replaced and needed to check with an employee that he supposedly manages. I believe that this was a deliberate lie. This company promises way more that it can actually deliver and is very poorly ran. Do yourself a big favor and keep searching for someone else. read more

He came out to provide estimate for exterior work on home. Weeks later still no estimate and no communication at all. Clearly doesn't wish to take the job. Other companies communicate that if a job is too small. That's preferable to no communication and stating that an estimate will be emailed. read more

I contacted this company to get an estimate for a small master bath remodel after some bad work was done. Mitch came out on 2/17/21 and said he would get the estimate to me by the following Monday. Long story short, I had to call him on Tuesday 2/23 and was told by him that he told me Monday or Tuesday. I called back on Thursday 2/25 because I still hadn't received it. I got the estimate at the end of the day in the amount of $35,675.00 for a 120 square foot bathroom that needed the tile removed and redone on the shower walls and the floor. I KNOW why this was my experience, and now I can add this company to the long list of non professionals. The state of Florida tells you to only go with licensed companies, but this is just as bad as an unlicensed company. Thank you Mitch for giving even more clarity than I previously had. Great communicator and Completes the project to your Satisfaction! I had the pleasure of working with Mitch McCue through a the listing agent and seller of the home I recently purchased. Mitch completed a major WDO repair to my future home. His team reframed my sunroom, replacing 2 large support beams, and installed 4 large windows. They did amazing work even down to the paint!!! From day of offer to day of closing I waited over 3 long months. This was due to seller using a 3rd party window company which caused a serious delay in delivery of the replacement windows. I can honestly say, I almost walked away from the purchase all together, if it wasn't for Mitch. He communicated with me throughout the entire project. The afternoon of my final walk-thru before day of closing he had 3 of his guys working hard to complete the project on time. The house was still a messy construction zone up til the 11 hour... he took my call that afternoon and reassured me the work would be completed, if I had questions or needed him to return for anything after I bought the house, he would return and touch up or complete to my satisfaction if there was anything i needed done. This of course would be after contract was paid and satisfied - meaning I really had to trust him as all bets were off once I owned the house. His reassurance and time he took explaining the repairs and process made me comfortable enough not to cancel the loan closing. I stopped by next day, an hour before my closing and EVERYTHING looked great, they cleaned up and I could barely tell they had even been there. Repairs were completed with an A rating on his inspection with the county too! I'm in my new home today and am very happy with the work completed! I recently purchased an historic home in the San Jose area & my downstairs a/c unit stopped working on me out of the blue. With the heat wave this summer, I was stressing out to say the least! I was referred to McCue by my electrician, who is a fair, professional, super nice guy. He told me to call his friend Rick, who works for McCue's air conditioning division. Rick came over that same day within the hour, and not only fixed the problem, but charged me a very fair/ reasonable price unlike most a/c guys out there. My parents and I were referred to Mitch McCue by our realtor- who is absolutely a rock star as an agent, no question- in Oct/Nov 2017 for some repairs and upgrades to their house and property before listing it for sale. Something happened in my interactions with Mitch and his company that bothered me a great deal. It's a new year and some time has passed and I am still disturbed by it. This is just one reason that I do not trust Mitch McCue and would not use his company again in the future. Here is what happened. My parents had a large multilevel deck that was going to be completely demolished and a new smaller one built in its place-so we needed a massive dumpster to hold all of the wood and concrete and 4 x 4 posts from the demolition which I did myself. Mitch McCue made arrangements for the dumpster drop. It took several days for it to arrive and I was in contact with the dumpster company several times to ask about the timeframe because I needed to be at the house when it was dropped to make sure they put it in a good place for me to load into it. So during these calls I had also asked the dumpster company what size dumpster they were dropping (they call it a "can") and how the total cost was figured- and they told me it was $50 to have it dropped at the house, $200 for the 20 yard can, and $45 per ton of weight. More than one person confirmed this in several separate phone calls. The end cost for our dumpster was $362 and change. $50 for the drop + $200 for the can + 2.51 tons at $45 per ton. I knew it was 2.51 tons because the driver who picked it up after I loaded it called me with the weight after he took it to the site where it was weighed. The problem is this- Brian from the McCue office had called me on Friday Nov 10th very soon after the dumpster was dropped off, asking if it had been dropped and asking for a payment of $495 for our drop charge - saying that the dumpster company charges McCue with each step of the process and that there would be an additional charge once it was weighed after it was picked up and it would be around $700 all in - so did I just want to go ahead and give him a credit card for the drop charge now and then pay the rest later? I declined- said I would rather make a single payment once the weight was in and they had the final total from the dumpster company. And I was prepared and not all that surprised when JT came up to me on Monday Nov 20th with a solemn look on his face while I was blowing leaves in the backyard saying that they had the all-in total for our dumpster and it was $726 and this would be added to the total payment due when they finished the jobs they were doing at the house. I knew for sure that our charge should be $362 and change. So I said "no" to JT. He said "no?" And I said "NO" and explained that I had talked to the company several times and different individuals had confirmed that it was $50 for the drop, $200 for the can and $45 per ton and I knew we only had 2.51 tons so it should be like $362. I knew dates and times of these calls and to whom I had spoken. JT said we have an invoice in hand that says around $726 for your dumpster, I can get it emailed over to you and show it to you-and then said he would talk to Mitch and get it sorted out. Next thing I know, Mitch called me and said oh yeah well, we have fifteen or twenty dumpsters out at one time, it'd be easy to get the addresses confused, so sorry- Kara will be calling you with the correct total soon. Kara said that the invoices got switched around, your total for the dumpster is $362.95, I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Caught? Yes I think so. I might believe invoices just got switched around in the multitude of jobs going on if it wasn't for Brian's phone call on the day of the drop saying that the dumpster company charges them at each step throughout the process and requesting $495 for OUR drop charge at that time. Obviously there is a huge difference in $495 drop charge vs $50 drop charge. I know what I heard and wrote down. Why did Brian say it was $495 for our drop? To say what happened was unethical would be sugar coating it. To say it looked like flat-out lying and a scam would be blunt but accurate. And this wasn't Mitch hiding the truth about the timeframe for finishing the jobs and saying to me that he was definitely coming to the house to work on Friday with a paintbrush in his hand himself if that was what it would take to finish the job in the timeframe promised - but then never showing up - and not finishing on time. This was very, very different. There were some bright spots in our experience and some really nice people work for Mitch McCue- but this attempt to overcharge me for the dumpster and then covering it up overshadows everything else. Mitch and his crew were instrumental in helping us prepare our home for resale and they were always on-time, and their work always exceeded our expectations. This is the first time I have ever left a review on any social media. I would not recommend Mitch McCue for any job. My experience with him has been disappointing beyond belief. He deposited a large amount of my money in his account and then did not honor the deal nor did he pay back the amount he said he would. He seemed like a stand up guy running a good business but I read him wrong. After reading the other reviews I can see that the only reason McCue got two high star ratings was because it was a former employee of McCues that did the A/C work. (And I know Ricky and he's a great, honest and hard worker) He no longer works for Mitch McCue. Make your own assumption here. read more

I had Homeservices come out to another of our rentals to fix a repair done incorrectly by another repair guy. They communicated well and the repair was successful! He is very busy with work but he is my "go-to" guy when I need a repair. He has always been trustworthy and is honest when it comes to what is needed. I think come people do not want to hear the extra repairs that may be needed as construction is not a set thing. We had to re-wire one of our units after Mitch identified bad wiring. As a past firefighter -I trust him in this. If you can get on his schedule -it will save you money in the long run. read more

Same opinion as the previous reviewer Suzanne. I still haven't received my estimate, even though I gave them more than 3 chances by calling them ("JT") and asking where it was. They also subcontract out some work and they said that was good for me because it would be a cheaper price....the subcontractor that came out said that is not the case and the price is the same. I feel they aren't quite honest about their dealings and frankly it seems like a total waste of time to make the initial appointment if they aren't going to ever follow through. Who has time to chase down people begging them to do work so you can pay them? SMH read more

This business over-promises and under-delivers. I entered a contract with them to repair damages by a former tenant. Their estimated time line for completion was 3 weeks after permitting, but after 3 months of delays and excuses I was advised by a construction lawyer to fire him by all communication methods available to me. This business did not meet industry standards for the interior paint job, tile work, or construction site protection and cleanliness. They stopped work after discovering mold, and refused to return my calls after I had the mold remediated. They collected over $12,000 and did not complete $12,000 worth of work. They caused additional damages to my home which will have to be repaired by another vendor. I demanded my money back, and they have made no attempts to communicate or resolve the issues. I have filed a complaint with Florida's Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) in the hopes that their license will be revoked and they are unable to prey on others as they have on me. Update to original post: Shortly after posting my negative reviews, my realtor offered to try reaching out to McCue's to see if they would be willing to finish and job and fix their mistakes. I did not think he would agree to this but gave her my blessing to try. My realtor relayed back to me that Mitchell McCue had indeed agreed, if in exchange I would remove my negative reviews from social media and retract my complaint from the DBPR. I sent him a letter telling him I'd do this if he would agree, in writing, to provide start and estimated completion dates; to fix all their mistakes (poor paint job, uneven tile work, etc); and that all subsequent work would be completed in a workmanlike fashion so that I could finally market my house. McCue's took several days to respond, and when asked again if willing to move forward, gloated to my realtor that I'd be unable to hold him accountable and invited me to try. Not only did he mislead and waste time again, but Mitchell McCue believes he is accountable to no one - not his customers, clients, community, nor regulatory bodies. I called this company for some handyman work as the advertise no job too small or too big The work and estimates I needed were for ceiling fan installation , caulking bathroom , shelving in garage, mirror hung , rain spout issue fixed, storm door put on, replace modeling on floor and tile outside screened porch. Lastly I wanted and estimate a closet built under my steps I called them on September 26 n the owner came out on sept 28 he told me he run up all the estimates I called 3 x to request an estimate the last time I called was after the hurricane and the woman said ok they are busy with hurricane that's why they did not get back to you I informed her that the owner was here a week BEFORE the hurricane Today is November 5 .... 5 weeks later I have not received a call or estimate I would NEVER recommend this company Not even a curtesy call . read more

His excuses included: it has rained a lot, it is hard to keep good employees, I got too big too fast. Hand writing is on the wall. Avoid his company, for he is over extended.
