We have another pickers nearer to us and it has good stuff there too. You have to look around for bargains but normally something will catch your eye.

I have only one problem with this thrift store: They put they're pricing stickers inside the books…read moreand it drives me nuts! I love to find board books for my toddler and they put them inside, right in the middle of the page and several books have been destroyed because of them. I would just leave the sticker on if they would put the sticker on the back of the book, on the outside... Even when I successfully get a sticker off without damaging the book the stickers they use are very tacky and leave a large amount of residue behind. Something has got to give here, I would go with better sticker placement. Or like other thrift stores mark the book with a crayon on a slick surface and it'll wipe off later. Otherwise this is the best thrift store I have ever been to... a few years ago I wouldn't go in it. It was dirty, smelly and everything looked like it was plucked from the dump. They've really cleaned the place up and they quality of the items is so much better. Definitely would advise anyone to go and check it out, plenty of treasures to be found!

I researched America's Thrift Store recently. They are a for-profit organization and only 3.5% of…read moretheir online and in store profits go to non profit. So when you see those signs, they are falsely presenting that they support non profits but 96.% earned off of your donations goes to paychecks for executives. In addition they run an eBay page on YOUR donated items. Not only are their price markups outrageous in the store, they are based on current marketability from eBay. Don't donate to thrift store causes unless you like directly funding corporate organizations rather than non profit activities. Always check that organization to ensure they are a non profit.

Over the years, I have found some really great pieces-from clothing and shoes, to handbags, to furniture...I've found treasures! If you go and don't find what you're looking for, stop back another day. If you see something you want, get it then because someone else will beat you to it! Prices have gone up over the years but you're still saving money from what the item originally cost. Lovelady Center, located not far from the store, helps women get back on their feet after going through tough times. They turn your donations into profit that helps them support their residents. In fact, most, if not all, the ladies that work here, are connected to Lovelady in some way. They are either current residents or have been helped in the past. You should really look up their story. If you like to shop, especially in thrift stores, you must check them out!

My trendy, younger sister wanted to try to sell her clothes at Platos Closet... she's in college…read moreand wanted to see if she could make a few extra dollars. I don't blame her! We came one Sunday and dropped off two big bags of clothes - many of them still had the tags on them! I was sure several items would sell! A few hours later we were notified that they had gone through them and to come back by the store. We came in... out of the two big bags, they took 2 shirts! What?!? And they could tell us which shirts it was. How much did we make? A grand amount $5.15. We decided we'd rather donate the rest than go through this process again. Just be warned you won't get much (if anything) for your clothes if you try to sell here.
