I'm sure there are people who find gems here, but I haven't had the greatest luck. Granted, I don't go first thing in the morning or spend hours sorting through racks. Over the years, I've usually ended up going in if I'm looking for something specific for a school project, costume, or odd household item. I hadn't been in a while, and I was taken aback by just how bad it smells. I know thrift clothes and used household items never smell fantastic, but I honestly think it smells worse than it used to smell. I was also disappointed in the amount of furniture they had. There wasn't a lot, and what they did have was not really even in fair shape. Lots of broken pieces. There is also a lot of new merchandise. Most of the Halloween items are new. There are endcaps of new merchandise at the registers. The mattresses are new, which is great, but there are no used bed frames (metal), just the brand new ones they have being sold at retail prices. I also miss the 'collectible' cases where better/more expensive items were kept. If it's still in the store somewhere, I haven't seen it, so I don't know what they're doing with nicer items that are donated. read more

Good thrift store! You will be sure to find something cool/useful here every trip! However, they are not exempt from the "thrift-flation" that seems to be overtaking this country. With a rise in vintage style, these once reasonable thrift stores will list trendy and name brands at high prices. Now i don't mean 50+$ but items you could get at a salvation army for $3-5 would cost ~$10-15 or even $20 (for jackets typically) here. Also due to resellers and vintage shops, many good items are quickly found by said sellers to sell purely for personal gain and not really available to normal people who are just looking to find clothes to wear out and about without concern for fashion. Beware people in carhartt who look like they've never done any job that warrants workwear! Still a great place to find clothes for a fraction of the price of newly bought items! read more

I don't live in Alabama, but had to be in the alabaster area for an event. We stopped by this thrift store on a whim. It was an amazing experience. Thrifting is one of my favorite hobbies, and I've been in thrift stores all over the country, but this one was perhaps the most organized and reasonably priced one I've seen, and had friendly staff, as well. This is the most amazing thrift store I have ever been to. I was vising here from out of state and was told by my friends here about this place. So many trinkets and treasures to choose from and great deals on everything. I went in looking for some used t shirts for a project and came out with so much more. Who knew I would end up wanting more than I needed? There were some great finds that I just couldn't pass up. I totally forgot about this thrift store location. I was out and about, actually going to thrift stores trying to find a stereo receiver (wish list item, something kinda vintage). Popped into this location and forgot how big this store actually is. Seems to be well organized and only took me a couple minutes to find the electronics area. Thought I may have hit the jack pot, when I turned down the aisle to find stacks of old equipment .... turned out to be mostly DVD players. That being said.. kind of the same as other reviews have stated ... well organized and a pretty large selection. I didn't check any prices, since there wasn't anything I wanted .... except I did notice the media (books, cd's, dvd's etc) and it all seemed in line with what you pay at other thrift store locations. Unless you have a very specific reason for visiting, I recommend going another route because in Jefferson and Shelby County, Alabama the price gouging is terrible. Way too expensive might as well buy new. read more

I have to say, it's incredible, the amount of good loot I can find at this thrift store. We have 5 kids and shopping for clothes each season gets expensive FAST! We've started supplementing their wardrobe with stuff from here and I'm amazed at how far our money can stretch. We bought a ton of summer clothes (and a cute bowl I liked) for 4 of the kids for $120! They have a wide selection of men's, women's, all ages of Childrens, formal dresses, suits, scrubs, you name it. You can also find pretty much anything else, from entire living room suites, rugs, dishes, electronics, toys, and more. Compared to other thrift stores I've been to, they have a ton of gently used name brand stuff. There is ample parking and the building was recently renovated, so none of that asbestos crap to slow you down. Go check em out! read more

I have shopped America's Thrift for years at this Alabaster location and others. Granted, ATS IS a thrift store, and stuff can be dirty... but for anyone who loves thrifting, you look beyond the dirt and see what treasures are available. ATS Alabaster is organized, with lots of volume to look through - some new with tags, some used. Clothing, housewares, children's, small appliances and furniture are all available. Today, there were several silver serving dishes from a local caterer marked at $2.99 each that almost came home with me. Yes, some prices may be higher than expected. One has to balance out cost vs benefit. If something works for your situation and/or is easily repaired or painted, how much will it cost elsewhere? For me, I look at all of that before deciding to take something home with me. Alabaster is a great location that I have added to my thrifting list. Went in today to buy new shirts for spring and found everything for $2.99 a shirt that's amazing and I bought eight then I also bought shoes for my kids for summer and stuffys it cam out to $39 . I totally will be going back . We also are buying my son a mattress there tomorrow for a full size bed . Love it . Idk why this location has so many bad reviews because I am telling you you need to go read more

You can always find stuff to take home here for a good deal, but I've noticed over the years I've been shopping here that it's gotten dirtier and dirtier, while also being more and more pricey. All much cheaper than brand new, but still a disappointment in comparison to old management. read more

One of the better thrifts I've found. So much and such a variety of stuff. Not overly clean but still manageable. I've found some great stuff here over the years--clothes, books, shoes, video games, toys and stuffed animals, electronics, and the occasional musical instrument. I have been looking for a piece of furniture for my daughters room. I found the perfect piece at this store. I asked if they could hold it long enough for me to go home and check the measurements to make sure that the piece would work in the space where I needed it to go. They told me to pull the tag and they would hold it for me. I go back to buy the piece of furniture since it will work perfectly in her room and it was exactly what I was looking for. When I arrived at the store, it turns out they sold the piece out from under me even though I had the tag. They then told me we don't hold. However, a sales associate before told me that they would hold it for me. They did not even seem to care and I guess they probably shouldn't since they are a thrift store. They asked me if I heard the number called out over the loudspeaker. I told them you can't understand anything that is being said and how would I even know to check the tag that I had in my hand for that particular number. I will never shop at this location again. I will never donate any of my items to this particular organization. I am extremely disappointed in the treatment that I received from the personnel at this location. read more

I can't get over those pictures of 3 years ago showing how clean this store is. Today it is not like that. It is so trashy that I cannot stand it. Stuff is just thrown everywhere, nothing is organized, you cannot even walk down half of the aisles because there is stuff thrown all over the floor, or it's items falling off of the shelves because there are too many piled up haphazardly for them to stay. Almost everything is filthy. Most of the furniture is either busted or broken. I have walked through and around broken glass. The employees do not seem to care, the dressing rooms are horrible, and I even had a really creepy dude in a dress try to hit on me. Horrible! read more

I always go there and shopping 2 or 3 times per month! Clothes are good and look almost new! Plenty baby clothes, blankets, shoes, and more! Most of my clothes are from ATS! And some stuff are good and can use to do the projects for makeovers, artwork, decorates, furniture facelifts, and more. Sometimes, you could find some good antique stuff from there!
