Horrible service. I sold my rental house in August. I was paying for the lease of tanks only. The new owner was the former tenant and had an Amerigas account for the propane only. First call they said they would have to remove the tanks and the tenant would have to setup a new account. Seriously. I told them to do what they had to do but it seemed a little ridiculous. I let the tenant/new owner know so he could call. So that was August. I called again in September to be sure all was good. They told me that, yes, the new owner had it all squared away! Then I get a bill from Amerigas for a new lease. That came in January. So now I'm dealing with this mess again and getting told the same thing over and over... Yes, we'll fix it.. it will take 5 days. Well it's been many, many five days and still not fixed. This is just one story of many of my pain with this company. My suggestion? If I could give 0 stars I would. My account is on Auto-Refill. Thursday 12/15/22 my heater stopped working and I could not cook on my gas stove. My husband checked our propane tank, our tank was empty. I called Amerigas to ask why my tank has not been filled. They said on 12/14/22 I was scheduled for delivery but my driveway was icy therefore they could not deliver to my location. First off I've been home all week during the 14th, there has been no snow and my driveway is clear since we are located directly next to a post office which is always clear. They said they would schedule a 24hr emergency delivery for Thursday 12/15/22 delivery for me. They said that I needed to be present at the time of delivery to check for a leak. The whole day Thursday I did not leave the house waiting for my delivery. No call or delivery on Thursday from Amerigas. Friday morning comes, I need to go grocery shopping which is over 30 minutes from where I am located, so I call Amerigas again to get an ETA. They said no delivery has been appointed to my area yet, no ETA for me. The remainder of Friday we still did not receive a delivery or call from Amerigas. Saturday 12/17/22 my family has been fed up with the cold & not being able to cook, so we leave to our closest family members home 3 hours away. Today, Monday we head back home, expecting to have a filled propane tank. I call on our way home, they said they still did not fill our tank and do not have a scheduled delivery for my area. Fed up with them & their no concern for the health and well being of my family. I stated again, that they were supposed to send an emergency delivery within 24 hrs, and said we must be present. It has been 5 days still without delivery. If we stayed there we would have died. It has been hitting below 30 degrees every day. They said they could not give an estimate of when we would receive our delivery, but should be within 24 hrs. I couldn't stand being lied to again, so insisted on speaking with a manager/supervisor. They then transferred me to a call center to someone who barely spoke English. She said they would have to put me on hold for the information to load on her end about my issue. I was on hold without any contact for over 1 hr. My husband called Amerigas from his cell phone, since I was on hold for over 40 minutes. He asked to speak with a supervisor after he retold our issue, she then replies with there are no supervisors available and to wait for a call back within 24 hrs. If we do not hear from them or receive a delivery to call them back and request to speak with a supervisor. We are just going in circles at this point and cannot get any confirmed information. Just arrived home Monday 12/19/22 still no propane, my thermostat says inside my home is 33 degrees. I would not recommend Amerigas to anyone. Horrible customer service. read more

So strange. What's the point of paying for an answering service, if you tell them not to take messages, even if someone begs them? Oh, perhaps they are allowed to take a message if someone smells a gas leak. What with no one even claiming this business, it seems as if there is a serious internal issue. They have the worst customer service ever. You only get to talk with a call center person, never anybody that can actually get any work done. Their auto fill service is a failure 3 times in a row. They let your tank run empty and then lock it out so that even after they fill it you can't use the propane. They promise to call you back but never do call back. They don't notify you of when they will deliver or even when they might deliver. Save yourself the headache of dealing with a company that really doesn't care about you except having you pay your bill and choose a different supplier. read more

We have been waiting 79 days for safety check and now at the point we need desperate for propane and we getting same response and they had been lying to us but now telling us there is no one to preform our safety check. Own my own tank and got a card from them that gas is 20cents off. Called to arrange delivery and was asked for credit card number and estimate of costs. Learned that they charged my credit card account the full amount of the estimate. The driver overfilled that tank to 85% trying to get to that estimate, but fell short about $80 worth. When I called to make sure my credit card would be credited, they refused, saying I would have a credit on my account at Amerigas until I filled the tank again. Filed a complaint with the Attorney General for fraud and with my credit card company to get the money refunded. read more

Beware of this company! We bought our home and moved to Auburn in 2017. The property came equipped with a 500 gallon AmeriGas tank that was servicing the house and an out building. I had never lived in a home that required propane deliveries and I wasn't sure how it worked. I called them and they told me that after I provide my social security number and after passing a credit check, they will sign me up to an account where they will periodically show up to top of the tank. They would then bill me accordingly. I then asked if I could just pay for a delivery with a credit card as needed over the phone. Their representative said that that was possible but they encouraged me to sign up for the plan. The quoted price per gallon seemed high but we need to heat our home. Over the years, I learned through neighbors that AmeriGas uses a tiered pricing plan and that they will always lead with their highest price. They will only offer a lower price after you complain or threaten to quit them. I called each of the propane delivery companies that service my area. I was horrified to learn that I had been paying as much as a dollar a gallon above what the other companies were charging. Over the years I had over-paid thousands of dollars. I called the company with the highest Yelp reviews (American River Gas) and within days I had been effortlessly switched. I then called AmeriGas, paid the tank rental fee and closed my account. Two months later, I received a bill from them for $100. This was a fee for them picking up their tank! I laughed and discarded that bill. This month, I received a second bill for the $100 plus an additional $36 late fee because I had not paid their ridiculous tank pick up fee. Now I am getting harassing phone calls from them demanding payment. This company is beyond galling. Avoid them!!! read more

Apparently they're closed when they say they're open. Scheduled an appointment to get my tank filled and they never showed up.. Not even a call to tell me not to dedicate my day to waiting for them to show up. When I finally got sick of waiting I called and they said "sorry, our driver couldn't make it out there today, call back Monday and we'll reschedule.." Amerigas; biggest fraud and rip off company I have ever used. Our rental house tank is leased through them and it is a disaster every time I need to fill up. Three times now I have called for a delivery, paid over the phone using my credit card as required, money taken our, propane delivered and 2 weeks later im getting a bill for the exact amount I already paid them... 3 TIMES!!!! Good luck receiving propane service regardless of your account, then good luck canceling your service when you find a legitimate propane carrier, and then IF you can cancel, good luck having their equipment removed from your property - when I finally had it removed after literal months of calling repeatedly, they didn't bill me, but they did send my account to a collection agency, which negatively impacted my credit score - how much was their collection notice for?? Amerigas is absolutely the worst. I've tried for a week to get a gas delivery. Today my 3rd phone call, I waited on the phone for over 2 hours on their customer service. 2 HOURS. I got nothing. They brag about their customer service. That is a blatant lie. They brag about taking care of your gas, so you won't run out. Another LIE!! Was a long term customer of Eagle Valley Propane, which sold to Amerigas, and have been with them since the acquisition. While Eagle Valley provided excellent service, Amerigas is absolutely terrible. They do not refill the tank regularly as requested. The tank ran completely out of propane on a Friday night. They don't answer their phone on weekends, and per their emergency answering service which I was on hold 30 minutes for, are unavailable to provide emergency propane fills on the weekend, supposedly due to weather conditions. It's not even raining. Unacceptable. The best they could do was an email to the Amerigas office, which is closed until Monday. I am switching to Legacy Propane. They answered their phone and are willing to come out on a weekend. Goodbye Amerigas. read more

This is the worst company ever! I have no gas for 8 days now, therefore no heating or hot water or a proper stove. Gas was scheduled to be delivered last week. I have called several times and waited 52 minutes once, than 36 minutes and never get through to anyone. Than decided to call back and choose sales for new service and bang! someone is on the line with a minute or two to get your money. Once they are late on their order no one is accountable. At this point I am over it! I know that I should have ordered earlier, before running out, but i am new at this, having a tank and manage gas. I just can't believe that they just don't give a dam that i have an empty tank! I am sure most people are doing the orders while still with some gas in reserve. So wouldn't it be right to give priority to whom has no gas? I know that if i had a 20% tank and if my neighbor didn't have any gas at all I wouldn't mind if they had to jump their order in front of mine. Will do everything i can to get out of contract, and if they charge me i ll take them to small court. read more

Very poor customer service. They ran us out of propane a week before Xmas. We had signed a contract to be on a keep full, they failed to do so. Then billed us at a rate about .75 cents a gallon higher than all other propane companies in the area. They also promised a $25 bill credit if they "run you out". We never got this. After a few calls and complaints, they adjusted our bill. Prior to that we had to call and request our delivery. After a week and no one came, I had to call them again. They stated the delivery ticket never printed. We called another local company and switched. read more

Been with these folks since they were Calgas in the 70's and then became Amergas. They have been consistently reliable for us, and serve 5 of our properties. When it comes to pricing we have to remember that propane is a commodity and prices vary with the energy market forces. I have never had a complaint about their pricing and have at times been notified when prices were low if we wanted to take advantage of it. They have also installed gas lines, water heaters and stove for us and done it well and when they said they would. Any company that's kept us happy for 40 years deserves the 5 stars. read more

Purchased a house spring of 2012 that already had an Amerigas tank on site. So we have been purchasing our propane for them for over 2 years and every time we fill up our friends are shocked at the price we pay. Winter is right around the corner and we heard of others getting their propane for $1.44 and $1.89 per gallon, so I gave them a call to set up a delivery but asked about the price first. Their computers were down so they told me they could not tell me the price but took my # to call back, I understood about the computers and waited. After 1.5 hrs without a call back I called them again, and their message machine said they were closed (this is at 3:12pm) so I left a message requesting a call back. They did call back about 40 minutes later and their computers were still down but the person who called me back told me that the minimum per gallon was $2.99!! What!? I couldn't believe it, so we called another company and in 10 minutes they quoted us at $1.65 per gallon with their tank (introductory rate yes, but otherwise was $1.89). Well be having them pick-up their tank once the new one is delivered. My husband also reminded me that last delivery from Amerigas the driver told us the valve on our tank was faulty...they never did anything about it. Long story short ... Their prices are unreasonable and their customer service merely mediocre. read more

Amerigas is buying small propane suppliers and then jacking up prices, they hope people will not shop around and find how much they can save by changing companies. They bought the company which I have been dealing with for over 20 years and tried to nearly double the price.When I found a new supplier I told them to pick up their leased tank. They charged me a pick up fee and when I refused to pay they added service charges and then sent the bill to collections. I have never heard of a pickup charge and I know that was not part of my agreement with the supplier they had purchased. If you want to pay high prices and have rotten customer service then Amerigas is your company and GOOD LUCK. read more
