I recently cancelled Amerigas Propane service due to horrible customer service. I gave notice was cancelling. They kept sending me bills and overdue notices after i requested cancellation. I have wasted hours on the phone with their customer service which is in a call center on the other side of the world. They tried to extort more money from me for cancelling my service. Was on automatic delivery and ran out of propane. What is the purpose of automatic delivery if they never come. Called customer service ask for a fill and they told me 5 days. Expressed it was their fault and they agreed to deliver the next day...5 days later no propane. Called again, they told me they would come out that day...nobody showed up. If I could give 0 stars I would - these are the WORST. Tried 4 times this summer to get a refill, they charged me for service calls, didn;t show up for appointments (lost 3 days of work). Then when I tried to cancel the account they charged my $318. I refused to pay and told them that (had been paying for tank rentals all this time) they reported me to the credit bureau. I do not have an Amerigas account. I tried to establish one, but they claimed my address already had an account. The previous owner of my home had an account, which she closed in April, 2019. Amerigas came to the home on the day we closed, and filled the LPG tanks, inspected the tanks, and were notified we'd purchased the home and needed a new account. In September, Amerigas came onto my property and capped off/locked two tanks, one of which they own (had been leased to previous owner), and capped a tank owned by the home. LET ME REITERATE. AMERIGAS BROKE INTO A LOCKED GATE, ON WHICH THERE IS A "NO-TRESPASSING SIGN", AND LOCKED OFF LPG TANKS THEY DO NOT OWN OR LEASE. In any realistic world, this would be breaking and entering, with theft as an add-on. They did not notify us that they were coming, and did not notify us that they'd been. They *broke* through a locked gate, marked "NO TRESPASSING" in order to do so. Then, they wanted a $150.00 inspection fee, wanted to charge us for the gas in the tank that the previous owner paid for, and want another $250 to uncap the tank that is privately owned (same tank they capped without permission). When we threatened them with legal action and going to the BBB, they said "We don't want to do business with you, so 'eff off. " Now we are stuck with locked tanks, can't feed our stove, fireplace, nor spa and it's 30 degrees outside. These are horrible people. I feel the local manager, Mr. Najarian, is a racist, foul-mouthed pig, on top of being a liar having made multiple claims about the previous owner of our home not having paid her bills (she sent us a copy of the closed account/paid balances), that the tanks were unsafe (Amerigas inspected the tanks when we took ownership), and that the previous owner had not transferred the fuel to us (the previous owner had written a letter Xferring the fuel). He also promised to amend the problem the same day, and it's 2 months past his promise, ergo, a lie. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID. read more

Worst customer service I've ever dealt with. The company continues to bill me after closing the account in March of 2022. Reviewed, closed, and requested removal of 2- 53 yr old rusted propane tanks they are still attempting to collect rent from for! Spoke with Donna Martin and Ken of AmeriGas in Charlotte, North Carolina and was reassured that the account would be closed and tanks would be picked up by the Cape Cod Amerigas. No success trying to reach this company via phone and still getting multiple bills!! Go elsewhere for your propane! Big headache! read more

Amerigas purchased Cress Gas last year. Cress gas is not open on weekends for for emergencies...but Amerigas IS (Supposedly). When I called for service this weekend, Amerigas claimed they don't own Cress Gas. After talking to 3 managers, I finally had to send screenshots of their own website where they list Cress Gas within their family of companies. Then they told me, "The merger isn't 100% complete, so we can't provide service to their customers". I told them that wasn't true - as I actually talked to a Cress employee who said that Amerigas should be providing service as of last June! Not to mention, it's on their WEBSITE that they own and service Cress Gas customers. When they realized they were wrong, they asked to put me on hold briefly while they worked it out. They kept me on hold over an hour before I realized they just wanted me to go away and hang up. I thought Comcast was the worst customer service I ever experienced, but this company has giving Comcast a run for its money. *** As a follow up - I posted a comment on their Facebook page with a very respectful request for service and description of the problem. Amerigas bought out Cress propane, a great company. Since the switch over I have had nothing but problems. Called for service last year on a fireplace that would not stay lit. They sent out a tech who tried to light it after a few tries said he didn't know how to fix it. I told him it was probably a thermo coupler....nope don't know how to fix it. They sent me a bill for a service call. After a rude conversation from their office they credited the bill and didn't know who to refer me to....?? A couple months later I received an invoice for propane @ $4.95 a gallon. Called the office the lowered to $3.95. Fed up I switched to GASTEC...GREAT SERVICE FRIENDLY TECHS AND OFFICE STAFF...AND $2.65 A GALLON read more

I told them in October to pick up the tank because I changed companies. They sent me a bill in January for a tank rental. COME PICK UP YOUR TANK. I don't need it nor do I want it. Won't let me give 0 stars! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE customer service. Waited almost 2 months for propane delivery because we "do not heat our primary home or cook with propane". Only for fireplace and garage. I can see putting us behind emergency situations but 2 months is totally unacceptable. Became dismayed and shopped around and found that Amerigas is significantly more expensive.... so changed suppliers. Notified Amerigas and have now waited 9 weeks for them to come get their tank! Called for a delivery a week ago because we are on automatic and we had not received a delivery. Now our tank is at 8% and they tell us there are no trucks on the road today due to the storm (that was forecasted for days). Cannot get through to the Kulpsville office and the national call center hung up on my husband who was not yelling-just wanted an answer on when we could get a delivery. read more

I have nothing but great things to say about our experience with Amerigas. I have had to call their office about billing questions a few times in the past two years and the customer service team is always extremely helpful, pleasant and accomodating. The service team is very respectful as well. I cannot say a bad thing about Amerigas! read more

The service with Amerigas is terrible. The invoicing is worse. Even their own employees can't understand the postings. I receive bills with posting and vague language like "other adjustment" with no explanation. Where do I begin. Last winter I needed my tank filled as it's my only source of heat in my home office. Amerigas local office would not answer the phones for 2 week period. I went to the office the woman with whom I talked was rude, unsympathic, outright nasty. I called the regional office and they were sympathetic but did nothing to help. As a result I had frozen pipes and had to have them repaired at my expense. I changed suppliers in the springtime and to date 12/15/2014 Amerigas refuses to pick up their tank after untold number of phone calls. I need the space for another propane tank. I am currently seeking someone who will pick up Amerigas tank. Does anyone know of someone who would like a free tank. DON'T EVEN CONSIDER AMERIGAS. read more

Good Luck. I was able to cancel service in April of 2010. I have new service and they are great. The next year I got a bill from Amerigas for annual tank storage....they billed me for 2011 when I had already cancelled service a YEAR before. But the worst of it is that it is now November of 2011 and they still have not picked up their tank despite repeated efforts for 1.5 years by my current supplier and many letters and calls to them. read more
