In a couple months time the gate was broken, in the time it took to move out (over a week) every day the back door wasn't even closed. Last Saturday when I arrived there was one car blocking the entire ramp access for loading and unloading. When they finally moved and I could back up to the ramp there was a police car blocking me in for somebody's call. This shortly turned to 3 Berkeley county police blocking me in on a Saturday while I was attempting to move out. The following Thursday when I went to finish moving after work the air conditioner inside wasn't working. It was later in the day and warmer inside the building than outside. Absolutely no security for the property at all and no climate control that I a paying for trying to raise rates by 1/3rd of original price. After reading reviews I also realized the prices of the larger companies will raise rates every few months and have heard of some people paying triple or more than original advertised price in under 2 years. Avoid public storage at all costs. I would rate less than a star if possible.

Staff members prior to the move were very efficient, and easy to work with. Chris was absolutely patient, and very accommodating in scheduling and rescheduling due to changes in the unit I was being relocated too. The day of the move, a Penske truck pulled up with more than enough ample space to move me, it was actually to big. One man jumped out of the passenger side. I asked him if he wanted me to move my car as I was holding two parking spaces, and he said not a single word. He looked me dead on in the eye and did not reply...weird. The driver jumped out, came around and introduced himself followed by another guy, and additional introductions were made. All went well...or so I thought. The guys wrapped everything carefully which made me feel more at ease. They only had large items to relocate since we had already moved lighter items the day before. The guys set up everything moved into the new unit, and the driver (nicer one), even reconnected my washer and dryer. This was not done by them a few years ago. I was advised they could not do it at that time, so I was a happy camper having this service available to me. I noticed after they left that all of my dresser drawers were off track...a small thing considering that was the only thing I had to correct. Anyhow while taking out the dresser drawers, I noticed a metal rod looking thing stuffed inside one of the dressers with clothes. I didn't know what it was for. I thought maybe it was placed by the moving company on accident. Upon further inspection while putting the drawers back on track my daughter in law and I noticed that they broke a part that is bolted into the dresser for the actual drawer to go on track. The metal portion that they broke off entirely from the drawer, we compared to the other drawers, I only know to describe as the track a train would maneuver on, without it....the train would not be on track. We figured a way to put the metal rod that runs along the bottom portion of the drawer back so that we could get the drawer on track. We were able to successfully do so, but because they also broke the portion that is bolted into the dresser, it's wobbly. The only way to break the rod off and portion bolted inside of the actual dresser is to attempt to remove it several times by force..... I didn't make a huge deal because the dresser isn't falling out entirely when opened, but what bothered me was the fact that they KNOWINGLY broke it, stuffed the broken off rod in the drawer and said ABSOLUTELY nothing. I was in each unit during the move and feel that they should have told me or told the company. As I stated my crew that moved me before a few years ago was fanatical, not sure what occurred with this crew, and the fact that my dresser drawer was broken and clearly acknowledged by the rod left in the drawer which came off of the bottom, and not communicated to me was not a professional thing to do. UPDATE: I increased this review by 2 stars because the owner reached out to me personally to apologize and offer reconciliation by having someone to come out to take a look, tighten up the dresser track, along with a refund amount, and a credit towards a future move. I received a feedback email from them, replied and was contacted within ten minutes by one of the company owners. That is excellent service, and this was closed knowing that the company values their customers.

I have been a loyal customer for four years, and in the past I understood and accepted reasonable rate increases. Previous staff members were always willing to discuss pricing and treated customers with respect. After a lengthy conversation, the only option John offered was to reduce my rate to $45 or to find another storage company. That is not the level of customer service I would expect from a business that values long-term customers. I also shared this feedback with him directly. Having worked in retail and customer service for approximately 15 years, I understand the importance of treating customers with respect, listening to their concerns, and working toward a positive solution. Unfortunately, my experience with John reflected the opposite of good customer service. I hope management takes customer feedback seriously, as experiences like this can lead to loyal customers choosing to do business elsewhere.

We paid quite a bit for the issues including odor removal, and the contract also stated dryer vent cleaning. When the work was "finished" the smell remained and they agreed it still snelled musty and moldy, but did not offer any solutions. The vents on the ceiling were also somehow broken, they said it wasn't due to them and they left us with no vents on the ceiling that we had to hire someone else to repair. I confirmed with the tech that they did the dryer cleaning and they said they had, but weeks later our dryer broke and the repairman said the vent needed to be cleaned. We called Restored who said even though it was in the "contract" it wasn't in the invoice, they hadn't done it, and had no clue why their tech said they did. Again, no solutions, no help, nothing further after the several thousand dollars we gave them. Truly disheartening especially trying to move into a new home, would highly recommend looking elsewhere as they din't deliver on what they promised and do not care about following up or making anything right with their customers.

I have not had one single thing go right which cannot be coincidence. I have called there no less than 15 times with the promise of elevating issues. Everything from the original movers arriving too early and the truck wasn't available on time so we burned two hours but they promptly left after the four hour time.. The storage unit when we finally arrived in Charleston was exactly what they said my four bedroom house needed, but they had rented it the day before, so they moved me to a different property in Wamba Creek. My experience at that particular storage unit in Wambach Creek has been nothing. Short of ridiculous. From the front desk to Elijah, the Director of the actual facility, nobody communicates. I have been overcharged for insurance which I have addressed and it has not been fixed. They locked me out of my storage unit because they thought that I had Live animals being kept in there, which was not the case. They just followed me in and out as I was moving items. They are not conveniently open at all, for a business, where people need access, they are open from nine to 3 o'clock on weekdays. I had to take days off of work to accommodate their schedules because they had errors in their access card coding. At the end of the day, one month later, my 26 foot U-Haul truck is still sitting on their property which I do not have access to because they jammed the back even though I had a log on it and that is illegal. I was supposed to return it a month ago but I can't because they could not provide me with adequate storage. Space And then when they did they locked out my access card. The storage space was supposed to be free for the first month but I've been charged numerous times and gotten bills to pay for the next month. U-Haul is the worst logistics company I have ever dealt with and I sit here today as a brand new person in Charleston that has zero access to her clothing her furniture her medication everything I own is in that U-Haul truck or in that storage unit. Do you think anybody ever calls me back? The answer would be no I asked for this to be elevated every single time and not once has anyone called me. Do not use U-Haul for anything, you might find a nice person here or there, but at the end of the day, my move to South Carolina has been an absolute disaster and cost me $10,000 and I still had to pay them which I paid upfront so they got their money and now have all of my items from my home my clothingmedication that was absolutely dire that I take every day, but no one cares over there. Absolute worst customer experience ever and I am still battling them.
