The regulator on the tank broke and let all the gas out. They fixed it in the field, but now the "people on the phone" (ie ain't ' round here) keep saying the "district " hasn't submitted the report, so the only way we can get gas delivered is to pay $140 for a leak test even though their folks just fixed it and tested it. So we have a tank sitting empty for over a month since being fixed that we are paying rent for. No accountability, no responsibility, no urgency.... the folks on the phone are all about delay, delay, delay. You would think after acknowledging it was their equipment failure, they would be more responsive. read more

The last 4-5 years in particular AmeriGas's service has been EXTREMELY poor. We were overcharged over $1,000. for gas that we did not receive. The gas in our tank ran out multiple times even though we had a monitored tank. Once, for over a week, we had COLD WATER ONLY for bathing, cooking meals, washing clothes and doing dishes because despite multiple calls to customer service, no one came out to fill our tank. The only way we finally received gas was when we saw the gas truck in our neighborhood delivering gas for another neighbor and I commandeered them to our home. The truck driver said he was in the neighborhood several times a week, but had no record that we needed gas. After talking to customer service multiple times about needing gas, this was very disturbing. We were never able to get a hold of anyone locally since AmeriGas moved their customer service to the Philippians. Even their drivers spoke poorly of the company they worked for. We were loyal customers for close to 30 years, but when a company treats their customers this poorly continuously, we could no longer stay loyal. I believe that AmeriGas has grown so large, that they can no longer provide quality service to their customer base. I was also told by several past (and present) AmeriGas employees, that they charged a surplus for gas in our neighborhoods to make up for a shortfall in areas where they were losing money TO THE TUNE OF 35- 40% MORE a unit. I about fell over when the bill from the new gas company we hired was $250.00 LESS EXPENSIVE than what AmeriGas was charging us the same amount of gas being delivered!! If I could give -10 stars, I would. I can't speak to the local staff, because we haven't interacted - everything is automated to call centers. However, what I can say, is that our gas refill was requested on 10/24 with a delivery date sometime by 10/31 and we were told we did not need to be there - they just needed access to the tank. The refill was delivered at sometime on 11/1 without notice or a call & a few days later when we still didn't have hot water & thinking our water heater was broken, we discovered that Amerigas locked our tank. No one told us before or after this was done. We called MULTIPLE times to rectify this situation, being told someone would call us, but never did. Then, I was told someone would come unlock the tank on Monday, 11/7 - my husband took off work to be home - and no one showed up. I called again, they said no one was scheduled to come to my home & our ticket was open. I had to leave a Better Business Bureau (on 11/7) complaint to have someone actually reach out to assist (on 11/8), but I already cancelled our account yesterday. We have been lied to so many times and had no one actually address the issue or show up when scheduled -I refuse to keep an account with them, even if their "custom advocacy" team tries to address my BBB complaint. This is unacceptable on all levels. If you want good service, I suggest looking elsewhere. read more

THE WORST... if only there were negative stars! The Mount Pleasant office is inept, and their processes and systems are completely broken. They broke their agreement to keep our home heating tank at minimum of 25% full at all times. They let me run out of fuel when it was freezing cold (temps in the teens) in the Low Country over the holidays in December of 2022. I could not reach anyone to get help due to the holiday "offices closed" I had NO HEAT and NO HOT WATER over the holidays When they finally came back to the office, they made me pay up front to place an EMERGENCY ORDER (despite we were under an agreement) And then they failed on THEIR commitment to deliver the following day. When they finally showed up to deliver fuel at a random time, they locked the tank because nobody was home. The put the fuel in the tank, but locked the tank. THEN they couldn't schedule someone to come do the safety check and unlock the tank. So, while they screw around with call centers in faraway countries, there is nobody that you can reach to get issues taken care of. The local number rings to a foreign call center. When you finally get through (20-40 minute wait on average based on my experience over the past week) their customer service center cannot access the technician schedules or confirm any service calls or times. This the most dysfunctional situation I have encountered in 10+ years - since the old days of cable tv (and they're better now). I wish i had ANYTHING nice to say. I do not. I placed an order to fill my propane tank on Dec 24, 2022, and per my app, they would fill the tank by Jan 2. To date, on Jan 4, they have not filled my tank, and I have not received updates. When you call, it is routed to a call center, and they have no answers to the delivery problem. I owned my tank and will use Ferrell Gas Company in the future. read more

If they tell you 1 to 10 day window for delivery- count on it being two or more weeks. They barely answer the phone- expect to wait on hold for at least 10-15 mins before a person actually picks up. Amerigas is the epitome of terrible customer services. read more

I don't think that I can add anything more descriptive to the what the other reviewers are saying. EVERYTHING they say is absolutely true. I am fortunate that I am only waiting on gas for my fireplace since early November. If I had to heat with gas, I would have been frozen by now. I can't believe that a company can be so piss poor. My only option is to have another company come out and put in their own tank. I really did not want to have to do that but it sounds like that is where I am at. This company is completely disgusting. I am supposed to be on an auto refill, but they continue to screw up and not refill my tank. When I call to get them to come out -- they won't. You end up talking with someone in the Philippines who can't help you and round and round it goes, because they don't care and you can't talk with anyone to get the problem straightened out except some person 12 time zones away who has no clue. I have auto delivery with AmeriGas. My heat, water, and stove are all propane. I have never missed a payment. My take ran out of propane and was promised 24 hours delivery. I would rate them zero stars but that is not an option. They have missed 4 delivery dates in January and I have been waiting 25 days for a propane fill up. When you call customer service, they struggle to understand simple requests. I would not recommend Amerigas to anyone, ever. Complete garbage and very clear they are a zero star company. read more

Truly the worst. There is no local number and all calls are routed through India. They refuse to route you to anyone local, they do not check your gas as they agreed, and when you run out, good luck to you, as it may be weeks. Also, if there is even the slightest impediment to accessing your property, the clock starts all over. read more

I'm only giving 1 star as you have to. The absolute worst company to work with. You either get someone who hardly speaks English and you can't understand or they make it hard to reorder exchanges. I started with my company less than a yr. ago. I ordered exchanges back in Jan 2024 with no issues. I've spent a week and a half trying to order exchanges. I got someone I could not understand, so after much frustration, I gave up. I tried again a few days later and they now have a verification process. They want to know the phone #, address, and email address on the account. Being I took over this role, I'm not aware of what email address is associated with the account. I went down the list of current people who have ordered in the past. Nothing matched up. I even gave them our acct. #. I was told to order on myAmerigas.com. I can use our account #. I verified our acct. # with the rep and I went online to set up the account and received a notice stating our acct# does not match their records. I'm done. I have sent out RFQs to new suppliers. Absolutely unreliable and the worst customer service experience I have ever had. The flat out lie about when a delivery is going to be completed. I've recently been told twice that my propane delivery is coming on a specific day and both times...no show. I will be looking for another propane company. You should avoid at all costs. read more

Avoid at all costs!! Customer service pathetically sucks! Even if you're on automatic refill, they rarely show up when they should. When you call to schedule a refill, expect to be on hold for no less than 30 minutes before you get someone on the phone. And if you're thinking about going to the office to try to rectify the problem, forget it. The office is locked and they don't allow walk-ins due to COVID. Once they do schedule the refill, the earliest date is generally 1-2 weeks from that time. I say "earliest" because the range within which they say they'll refill could be anywhere from that date to two weeks beyond that. Contact Carolina Gas instead. read more

Amerigas used to be blue flame in Johns island and had the nicest people in the office. I had been using them for years but recently you call and get people not even local and they sent me a coupon then said I couldn't use it unless I ordered online and then quoted me two totally different prices. Thank goodness I own my tank so I called someone else for propane. read more

We recently moved to the area and had scheduled for Amerigas to come out and run a line to install a gas stove. They called to re schedule because the installer that was supposed to come had left the company. They wanted to schedule me out 3 weeks and they suggested another company that could possibly do it sooner. I called the other company and they came out and performed the install. I called Amerigas to let them know the install had been done. They didn't cancel the appointment and sent people out to my home to do it, we turned them away and told them it had already been done by another company. When I log into my Amerigas account, I see an invoice for $1016.75 for the installation that was never done. I called numerous times and after waiting 45+ minutes spoke to about 10 different people that gave me vague information, that they needed a supervisor to approve the credit, that the person that had come out to do the install had closed out the work order but had failed to inform that work had not been done, that they would call me back, etc. It has now been over a month and the bill is due and has not been corrected. I have also sent numerous emails with not a single response. They need to correct this error and not hold me liable for something I didn't purchase. I would give ZERO stars if I could. read more
