Having the shower built without walls, similar to European bathrooms is perfect and he can get his walker in there too. The bathroom was huge and his room was perfect. The two queen rooms were spacious and comfortable. It's the only hotel I will stay in my dad's home town! The breakfast is good and the staff very professional and friendly. They didn't mind that my family stayed after breakfast hours to sit around and talk! It's located near all the stores and restaurants too. Best of all, the VA is close so it made my dad feel as though he could be taken care of should something happen. I totally forgot to get pics of my dad's room!

I called ahead a little ways…read moreoutside of town to the various overnight establishments and found the phone service with Budget Inn to be good and the price more than reasonable. Looking at the online photos I knew that I'd probably be introduced to the "Local" experience over the other hotels. I arrived and was greeted by Rich Gold. What? Yes, a native from Missouri and a 20 year service member of the armed forces. Anyways, I was too tired to be chatty and I quickly got checked in and hit the hay... The next morning I ran into some logistical issues that required me going to the small town of Paris, Missouri, which was about 26 miles away. While I was at the counter, checking out with Rich, I also shared with him the dilemma is was in and asked him about any solutions possibly available to me in town. We both concluded I was in a "Situation" and then he looked at me and said "Hold On!"...and he ducks around the corner. I had no idea what he was doing or what to expect. For all I knew he could have been going to go get a pair of skates to bring back to me. He came back and said "Let's Go". I was stunned and had to ask what did he want in return for helping me go take my rental car into the next town to go get another vehicle to bring back. He said he did want anything in return. Cut to the end: During the drive into Paris (to pick up a Ford F-150), the drive back into Mexico (to return my rental to Enterprise and then heading back to the hotel in the F-150) I had the chance to learn about Rich. Rich is one of those people who we need more of and not because he helped me out. Rich is a person who served our country, he is an active member of the chamber of commerce thus serving his community, he is serving his wife and kids by building financial security and economic relief so his kids can have a better life after he is gone. Rich became a friend and a memorable person of whom I'm indebted to. He has big plans for his establishment and hopefully more people renting his rooms will help him get those plans started and completed sooner. I never did get to eat any of the pancakes, biscuits w/gravy or the eggs but I can say this - Go see Rich and tell him Eric sent you and you want to see Budget Inn become the best hotel in the middle of town. It's an original location built in the 70's and sits on a great corner near old town. Your money goes to one place right there in town and not some corporate entity in another city or state

This is still a great hotel but, based on this stay, I'm lowering my rating to a 3-star. The two guys at the front desk when we checked in and they lady working the desk when we checked out we're all great. Professional, personable and efficient. The room was clean and quiet. BUT, and this is becoming more and more of a problem with hotel rooms, it was impossible to get the room dark. There were special blackout shades to keep outside light from interfering but there was a giant (actually it wasn't that big) bright green LED on the thermostat that gave the room a green glow all night. The lady at the front desk at check out said we weren't the first to complain about the green LED. She said that next time we should check with the desk and they'd give us tape to cover it. Misc LED's on the TV, microwave, smoke detectors, etc are making it hard to get a room really dark. Then at breakfast (yeah, I know it's free), they were out of bacon AND their signature cinnamon rolls. I overheard the breakfast hostess telling one guest that "THEY" never gave her enough bacon. Then I overheard her telling another guest that there were no cinnamon rolls because "the truck didn't come yet". This is still a nice hotel and we'll continue to stay here on our way west. It just needs to pay better attention to details, and the breakfast staff needs to be more hospitable and stop blaming "them" and "the truck ".

Beach front, the pool area is beautiful, and the staff here is compiled with some of the nicest people I have ever met in my lifetime. It's spotless and the wifi though not the best is enough to get by. You don't really need wifi on vacation anyway. You need to be out enjoying the beautiful area. There is a little grocery story down the block and like a 7/11 type store right across the road. The neighbors are all friendly and everyone was delightful. There are always a bunch of taxi drivers zooming down the road so it shouldn't be hard to get a ride somewhere. What I liked was that it isn't in the hotel zone. But not super far away. We were close enough to get to everything we wanted to do with a short taxi ride away but still far enough that we didn't have to see all the hoodlums that came out for memorial day weekend. We got a chance to relax and really enjoy Mexico without the crowds. I love this place and can't wait to return.

Traveling all the way from California, we wanted to stay in a comfortable, clean, and accessible place. When we arrived, we received warm welcomes from Mike and Carol. Upon entering the lodge, you quickly feel at home. The living room is spacious, and has huge windows to look out and enjoy the scenery. We stayed in the loft, which is a lot bigger than the pictures show. It has extremely high ceilings, which is perfect for tall people . The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was nice and clean. (Unlike other lodging places in the area) To top it all off, breakfast was delicious! Carol made us home made biscuits and gravy followed by stuffed French bread topped with strawberries and cream. Both Carol and Mike made it a point to give us our space when staying there, but with such warm and inviting personalities, it was hard not to engage them in our conversations. Staying here is worth every penny, and we look forward to staying here in the future.

Check in was easy and the view on the hill would be nice if not rainy and can't imagine what a great sunny day would be like (probably very pretty!). They do have a 3 mile walking trail but if you try it you need to grab the map first or you'll think you're heading to a private road. We turned back without a map thinking we went the wrong way - rookie mistake but wish we would have been told to grab a map prior to heading out. Or be handed one as newbies... The owner I believe lives in the facility as well, and it was Easter weekend. He was talkative first night upon check in and did stop by outside to chat. The waterfall was not working and he said maybe he'd get it working by the time we left. Not a big deal, but never did turn on. It was odd that his family lived there or was visiting for Easter so we did feel a little like intruders over the weekend. Room: was freezing cold, and first night the heat was not working well. We did have a fireplace in the room but the unit to use for heat was not working no matter what we tried even with staff assistance. The bathroom was freezing and we had to use a space heater to try to warm it. We did complain the second night and nothing was fixed as owner was having Easter dinner upstairs with his family. Hot Tub: clean, small and perfect for 2 people. Made the trip. Didn't use the small table fire pit. They don't tell you that they drop off deserts at night and the next morning we woke up with melted ice cream outside the room. Communication breakdown. Coffee was folders, nothing great but did have a selection of offerings for breakfast time. Staff workers were amazing - kind and super friendly given that it was Easter weekend. You can tell they do try to give you the best experience. The staff hired here were amazing and friendly. Games are available for the rainy days. TV has most steaming services, rooms a tad older look. Somethings not functioning - like the sound machine, TV being finicky, and heat in room. We probably will not choose this room. Would rather stay at the rooms that are on the river and try that route next time!
