When there was a tornado warning, Cheyenne was so comforting and brought some (much needed) humor and levity to the situation (as an out of state-r, I'm not used to Missouri weather!!). We had roaches!!! Minimal housekeeping means they don't even come in and take all the trash, they just grab the old towels and bring in clean ones (hopefully - eco could mean they just dried wet ones in the dryers and brought them out for re-use). The floor felt like it had not been cleaned in ages on my bare-feet which were dirty by the time I went to bed after I had only walked on the room's floor! The bed was so tall you had to do gymnastics to get on it. They say they are eco minded so I think they use the grey water idea for one time our toilet water was literally yellow and no one had peed in it, so I guess someone had peed in the shower and it ended up in my toilet. The lid on the toilet was too small so you were constantly sitting on the bowl part as well. Also being eco minded meant instead of soap being sanitarily wrapped in it's own unopened paper and small bottles of shampoo etc, you got opened bottles of not full to almost empty products, all of which numerous other people had used and perhaps done God knows what with it and the pump handles were probably never cleaned. You could not even use the sink for the fixtures were so ill fitting, you had to use a cup to rinse your hands, otherwise you were constantly hitting the underneath crevice of the counter and you just knew it had not been touched by "housekeeping" since the hotel was built. There is no restaurant only a breakfast hallway which is sectioned "off limits" except 6-8am. The laundry room which you had to do yourself smelt like sewage. I didn't even shower for it was unusable, not only did it have no grab bars or anything, you had to turn backwards to reach the products about three feet from the shower head. Someone said this hotel was new - the shower was rusty. So after having to pole vault onto the bed I left unshowered, in dirty clothes for I did not want to use products someone may have goobered in that stank to high heaven, or launder my clothes in a sewer. We had planned to stay two nights but left after the first one. Very over priced and don't believe a word of the good reviews. And I didn't even say a word about all the clashing decor...

This is still a great hotel but, based on this stay, I'm lowering my rating to a 3-star. The two guys at the front desk when we checked in and they lady working the desk when we checked out we're all great. Professional, personable and efficient. The room was clean and quiet. BUT, and this is becoming more and more of a problem with hotel rooms, it was impossible to get the room dark. There were special blackout shades to keep outside light from interfering but there was a giant (actually it wasn't that big) bright green LED on the thermostat that gave the room a green glow all night. The lady at the front desk at check out said we weren't the first to complain about the green LED. She said that next time we should check with the desk and they'd give us tape to cover it. Misc LED's on the TV, microwave, smoke detectors, etc are making it hard to get a room really dark. Then at breakfast (yeah, I know it's free), they were out of bacon AND their signature cinnamon rolls. I overheard the breakfast hostess telling one guest that "THEY" never gave her enough bacon. Then I overheard her telling another guest that there were no cinnamon rolls because "the truck didn't come yet". This is still a nice hotel and we'll continue to stay here on our way west. It just needs to pay better attention to details, and the breakfast staff needs to be more hospitable and stop blaming "them" and "the truck ".
