Hermann Hill was good, but not great. I can see why this is a spot where couples come to connect. We stayed in the rooms that were attached to check in so my ranking only based on that room and facility. Check in was easy and the view on the hill would be nice if not rainy and can't imagine what a great sunny day would be like (probably very pretty!). They do have a 3 mile walking trail but if you try it you need to grab the map first or you'll think you're heading to a private road. We turned back without a map thinking we went the wrong way - rookie mistake but wish we would have been told to grab a map prior to heading out. Or be handed one as newbies... The owner I believe lives in the facility as well, and it was Easter weekend. He was talkative first night upon check in and did stop by outside to chat. The waterfall was not working and he said maybe he'd get it working by the time we left. Not a big deal, but never did turn on. It was odd that his family lived there or was visiting for Easter so we did feel a little like intruders over the weekend. Room: was freezing cold, and first night the heat was not working well. We did have a fireplace in the room but the unit to use for heat was not working no matter what we tried even with staff assistance. The bathroom was freezing and we had to use a space heater to try to warm it. We did complain the second night and nothing was fixed as owner was having Easter dinner upstairs with his family. Hot Tub: clean, small and perfect for 2 people. Made the trip. Didn't use the small table fire pit. They don't tell you that they drop off deserts at night and the next morning we woke up with melted ice cream outside the room. Communication breakdown. Coffee was folders, nothing great but did have a selection of offerings for breakfast time. Staff workers were amazing - kind and super friendly given that it was Easter weekend. You can tell they do try to give you the best experience. The staff hired here were amazing and friendly. Games are available for the rainy days. TV has most steaming services, rooms a tad older look. Somethings not functioning - like the sound machine, TV being finicky, and heat in room. We probably will not choose this room. Would rather stay at the rooms that are on the river and try that route next time! read more

We usually stay once a year but skipped last year since the stay the previous year was not up to their usual standards. This year all was of the quality we have come to expect from this wonderful inn. Stayed in 301, but the text I received said 201, so we had a bit of confusion at the start. Room was clean, well maintained and stocked with all the things we needed. We soaked in our private hot tub on the deck and watched an eagle soar over the river. Rain shower head feels wonderful. We love coming back to Hermann Hill over the years. The owners are great and have actually even made this place better than before in our view. Breakfast delivered to our room was superb. We have the always gorgeous view over looking the vineyard . Our room comes with a hot tube in its own room with a fireplace and it's own shower head to rinse off. It also has inside a sauna, jet tube, and steam shower. The service is amazing. Chocolate cake and ice cream evening dessert with a candle. I can only say, if you want to get pampered in Hermann, MO this is your place. Just leave me some space to come back, lol. We love you Hermann Hill!!! read more

We completed this 3 mile historical tour of Hermann, Missouri for our 11th Anniversary. It started at Hermann Hill Vineyard Inn, Cottages, & Spa and ended at Stone Hill Winery Vintage Restaurant for some Authentic German food and local wine. Perfect sunny weather at 69 degrees! We had a long talk and third story tour with one of the owners, Terry Hammer. He is full of history himself and couldn't have been happier talking with him about our engagement, wedding, and anniversary spent at his wonderful bed and breakfast. This guy has built a legacy for sure! He was out pouring concrete in the nights sky at our request to rebuild their "Forrest of Gongs" where I proposed to Andrea Ewen Vilgos 1-1-2013 after it was destroyed in a storm prior to our 2015 wedding. I highly recommend Hermann Hill for their Vinyard Bed and Breakfast, Bluff Cottages (overlooking the Missouri River), and Wedding Chapel and services. We will be back for our Anniversary's whenever we're able to make it in from Oahu, Hawaii. We've stayed in two of the Inn rooms & one of the bluff cottages on our wedding night. All highly recommended and you cannot go wrong if you're looking for attention to detail coupled with the company of great people and staff. The views are impeccable from both locations!! read more

DIRTY DONT SCRUB ANYTHING. Horrible experience working here I recommend not working here because Debbie all the workers are horrible and rude and I've been trying my hardest to work there, but they completely did not do a good job at training me at all. And then get mad at me whenever I don't know how to do something they completely took me off the schedule so I quit. They do not value their workers. I absolutely don't recommend working there at all They don't value their workers at all. They're horrible. They don't say please or thank you very rude. I am 18 years old and Debbie looks like she's 70 or something but is very unmatured and bossy and acts like she's immature teenager does not know how to run the place at all. I recommend them to fire her as soon as possible. This place will run themselves to the ground because everyone is leaving because Debbie and the horrible management in the place. They do not clean the places at all. They tell me to just wipe down everything. They don't have anything to scrub with. They don't scrub anything they just have, rags that they spray down everything so if you want to stay there, don't be expecting anything clean because they don't clean it at all. read more

My husband and I took a trip to Hermann for our 10th anniversary. We stayed at the Hermann Hill Inn. This was the perfect place for a couples get away. Breakfast was fantastic, and you have the option of dining in room (No extra charge for delivery), or to dine in the kitchen or dining room. The staff was extremely nice and very helpful. The owner, Terry, came to our room both nights of our stay, delivering fresh baked cookies and ice cream (also included). The Inn was very quite and relaxing. They offer wonderful extra touches that don't cost extra, such as frozen margaritas and a coffee bar. The sites at the Inn were amazing, it is placed high on a hill at the edge of the town, there is a beautiful view of the town and the river. We are already planning our next visit! read more

We were in town for the weekend and decided to stay at Hermann Hill. It definitely did not disappoint! Also note that the cottages are located in a different location from the main Check-in/Spa. We got the directions on their site but it was easy to find eventually. Our suite was on the lower level but we still had a great view of the Missouri River. The suite was very clean and included a kitchen, bites and drinks in the fridge, delicious baguette they left on the table for us, coffee, fireplace, huge jacuzzi, outdoor fire pit on the balcony, and an amazing shower. Location is near stone hill winery and the shops in Hermann. They also offer 20% off active duty military, which is awesome that they support our troops. Definitely worth every dollar. read more

We had friends recommend Hermann Hill to us for our 10th anniversary. We are really glad we came! We were initially booked in the Chambourcin suite, but because we had to bump our stay by a day, we stayed in Cynthiana instead. If we come back, we would prefer the Chambourcin because it has more amenities. The Cynthiana is your more typical B&B room. Pros: -The rooms are remarkably sound proof. This is not normal for a B&B, but much appreciated for obvious reasons. We didn't hear anything other than some occasional doors closing or people working in the kitchen. -When we arrived we were greeted by two sweet chocolate labs outside, then the friendly employees inside. If you choose the Signature Stay, you get a a tray with a couple drinks (beer or wine, your choice), cheese, bread, and fruit. This was a fun way to settle in. -The view is SPECTACULAR: absolutely gorgeous vista of the whole town, including the river. -The town is really charming. There are lots of places to tour (we recommend Copper Mule & Stone Hill. Don't waste your time at Hermanhof). The riverfront is beautiful too. -The room itself is nice. It has a large jetted tub, a steam shower, a fireplace, a balcony, king size bed, and walk in closet. It's on the second floor. -Breakfast is provided, and you can choose to eat downstairs or in your room. There's a daily special like an omelet or Belgian waffle. The coffee is decent. -There are snacks and a frozen margarita machine in the kitchen, as well as cold bottled water in the lobby. -If you have a dietary need, they are willing to accommodate you. Cons: -Plan your stay better than we did. Apparently Hermann is pretty much shut down between Christmas and January 5. We had no idea. Our options for eating out were very limited. -The room was not what we wanted, but it was still better than staying in a hotel. The only complaints about the room is that there were no comfortable chairs to sit in and the headboard was like a hutch that was just loosely sitting at the head of the bed. It was very weird. And I couldn't sit up in bed and read leaning against it because it was not affixed to anything... and there was no comfy chair to sit in to read either! I know this is nitpicky. But I like to read :) -The food was not remarkable. The "appetizer bar" they advertised was actually just a soup of the day. This was fine, but this is not the same as an "appetizer bar." There was literally just a crock pot of soup each night from 4-6pm with some crackers and cheese to put in. Again, it was fine. Just not what was advertised. -The drinks available in the room were basically soda and juice. Since we drink neither of these, it would have been nice to have other options. Again, not a big deal. Just nice to know ahead of time. Overall we really like this location. If we come back to Hermann, we will definitely stay here. It is certainly the nicest place to stay in the area. read more

This is a great B&B to stay at if you're visiting Hermann. It's situated high on a bluff on the edge of town overlooking a vineyard, the river, and the town. I think that each of the 8 rooms has a balcony or patio, but not completely sure about the rooms on the bottom floor. We stayed in the Port guest suite and it was very nice. Contained a king bed, fireplace, balcony, jacuzzi tub, and towel warmer. They also offer complimentary wine upon arrival. The staff was very nice and helpful. You were able to pick where you wanted to eat breakfast out of several locations like the main dining room, outside patio, or in your room. We opted for in-room as I hate to socialize with strangers over breakfast. That's the one bad thing about B&Bs, so I try to pick ones that offer breakfast in your room. You also got a menu and had your choice out of several selections, which was nice. I'd definitely recommend Hermann Hill, but it is on the pricey side. read more

I didn't know how my husband and I would afford a nice wedding until we found this place on the internet. It's all-inclusive, you are given a dedicated wedding planner, and everything happens in one place. Plus, you get a free night's stay in a beautiful cottage with a private hot tub AND jacuzzi. Our wedding planner took care of all the details and I didn't have to do a thing except go out once for an initial planning session and then once more for a final walkthrough. PLUS- they offer a 10% military discount. That can make a huge difference in price when paying for a larger wedding. I wouldn't change a thing with my wedding, and Hermann Hill is one of the main reasons. It was perfect! Plus, my guests loved the little German town of Hermann. A friend gave us a gift certificate, which covered part of the cost for a one night stay, so we booked the Port room for a quick getaway. The room was huge, with a big bathroom as well. This was nice if we had intended to have a house party, but not really necessary for the two of us. The jacuzzi tub unfortunately didn't work, which we were notified about ahead of time (and given a credit towards our bill) but it was still disappointing. The shower was a treat. It had more shower heads and faucet handles than aisle 15 at Menards. It had a bench seat, but overall it was smaller than I expected. There was a towel warmer in the bathroom, which was a nice touch. The room decor was slightly outdated (blonde oak everywhere) but it was clean. Just not what you picture when you think of luxury. The view of the vineyards and town was gorgeous and we had a little balcony to sit and enjoy it. Not that we did, but it was there. We were woken to clanging dishes at 7:30am. It seemed to go on forever, but made me think of the delicious breakfast that awaited us. Oh whoops, that wasn't included in the $500+ charge. The generic granola bar was quite tasty though. The bed was pretty comfortable-firm if that's what you like. The ceiling fan didn't work though, which was a huge issue for my wife since she needs the "noise" to sleep. Good thing we had those clanging dishes for her. The property was very pretty and well maintained. I think I would have preferred to stay in a cottage for more privacy. The staff was friendly and polite. One suggestion I have though is for them to dress more professionally. It sounds petty, but if the perception you're trying to convey is luxury a wrinkled t-shirt doesn't do it. They really do think of the little things here. Sunscreen, beverages in the room mini fridge, cookies and ice cream delivered to your door at night, etc. Overall it was a nice stay, but just not what I expected for the price. read more

We had a recent visit in March to Herman Hill Vineyards. Per the advice of the employee we booked upon our checkout for Jan. 2024 to hold the rates we got for 2023. We were told we would get 100% refund if we needed to cancel. Well, we thought we had nothing to loose. We are facing a substantial bill on a home repair so we decided to cancel our reservation. Upon doing that we were told we would only get 90% back. Be careful when booking in advance and in person. We got no documentation showing the 10% cancellation fee. We only got a verbal acknowledgement of being able to cancel with 100% refund. The only documentation we got of a 90% refund was a week ago when they charged our card for the remaining amount due. That was a little too late. They also have had use of 1/2 of our reservation funds since March and now our remaining balance and we are still 2 months out from what was our scheduled stay. DON'T book in advance, they probably will not tell you of the cancellation fee plus the cancellation fee is more than any increase they may have for the year. It is quite a scam. Be very careful. It is an ok place but way over rated. There are several other places to have a romantic getaway that are cheaper and easier to work with. read more

If I could, I'd give it 10 stars! We have stayed the past 2 years in the River Bluff Cottages for our anniversary and it is a little piece of heaven! The cottages are very private and a complete getaway from a hectic life. We drive over 6 hrs to get here and consider ourselves lucky to have found such an amazing place. The amenities are too numerous to list them all. A private deck with hot tub, steam room shower, in room jacuzzi and aromatherapy fireplace are a few of our favorites. Our room comes stocked with soda, snacks, and breakfast and the staff are very accommodating to all of our needs. I won't lie, the cottages are expensive but it is money well spent when I can reach such a level of relaxation. read more

Even heated towel racks. Add to all this a cooked to order breakfast each day and you cannot find a finer place to stay. So why not 5 stars? No working elevator in a 4 story building. We stayed in one of the Hermann Hill cottages for two nights and we were blown away by the attention to detail and amenities provided. First, we were greeted by a sign at our door saying "Happy Anniversary!" which was signed by all of the employees. Then we walked in and saw a basket filled with microwave popcorn, homemade granola and s'mores fixings (including a bottle of chocolate raspberry sauce). Looking in the refrigerator we found it stocked with water, juice, soda, Hermann Hill's fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies to be heated up later and the dinner package we had ordered (this was extra). This was amazing because the steaks were not just cheapie cuts but really nice ribeyes AND we realized that we got to keep all of the items which included two personalized wine glasses, an apron, two bottles of seasoning, a grilling sauce and a basting brush!! We checked out the amazing private porch overlooking the Missouri River and found the gas grill, fire pit and hot tub (they change the water between every guest). Going back inside to the bedroom there are Hermann Hill robes and slippers, a very comfortable king-size bed, large jacuzzi tub, an aromatherapy fireplace over the tub and a shower to die for with a HUGE rain shower head and two side jets as well as a sauna setting. Between the bedroom and living room areas is a double-sided gas fireplace that definitely keeps the place cozy! The breakfasts both days were delivered hot and tasted amazing but it's more food than I could ever eat! And they even packed us a lunch cooler for our day of wine-tasting!! I love the fact that you can ask them not to clean your room every day and each day that they don't, they leave fresh towels and water at your door and donate $5 to a local charity. We also booked a couples massage in the room and that was a really nice treat. Both masseurs were professional and made the experience very relaxing. Bottom line is that Hermann Hill is expensive compared to other places you can stay in Hermann but I would argue that they still give you MORE than your money's worth!!! We are going to make this our annual anniversary destination!! read more

I can't agree anymore with the positive reviews that have already been placed on here. The atmosphere is perfect, the cooking staff we're willing to make gluten-free options for my wife who has an allergy to gluten. Every day the staff was incredibly friendly and family oriented. I wish that we could have stayed longer and used their in-house masseuse but unfortunately time didn't allow. We are definitely going back to Hermann Hill. read more

In a word: perfect. My husband and I got married here and, I won't go into crazy-long details, but it was absolutely great. As far as money goes, our wedding was a very low-budget ceremony but Donna S & Jill W. gave us the kind of treatment that made it seem like we were high rollers. They were extremely available, very accommodating, and they made our wedding day just perfect. Our wedding package came with a one-night stay in a honeymoon suite and it was also perfect. It was spotlessly clean, it had a pre-heated hot tub outside and a huge jacuzzi tub inside. Each suite comes with amenities that you wouldn't even think you'd need until you suddenly need them. It also comes with all sorts of little romantic touches, like a variety of bubble baths. Last but certainly not least, they stock the fridge and the cupboards with stuff to make waffles, make coffee/tea, make a little breakfast casserole, etc. I can't recommend this place enough...it was just lovely. Just because you have a CONFIRMATION NUMBER from Hermann Hill Vineyard Inn, Spa & River Bluff Heartbreak Hotel, don't think you actually will be able to stay. My wife booked a three day stay NINE MONTHS in advance in their guest suites and provided a credit card. We both work 100+ hour workweeks, so we try to get away every month for a weekend. Comes the day of our Oktoberfest getaway, so we pile in the car and drive for four hours... thank God we didn't take Amtrak as we planned. Surprise Surprise Surprise! No reservation, no room, and not one available space in the entirety of Hermann, Missouri per the Heartbreak Hotel. Supposedly the credit card did not go through back in December of last year. Supposedly they ran it until March. Supposedly they repeated tried to contact my wife by telephone...all to no avail. Things got really interesting after we drove four hours back home. We checked with the Credit Card company. They had no record of approximately $1700 worth of charges from the Heartbreak Hotel ever being run much less turned down which is hard to do as that card has a mid five figure limit and usually has a mid four figure balance which is religiously paid in full and on time. We checked her cell phone records and would you believe no phone calls from the (573) area code that were from an unknown number. My wife is a physician who does NOT use an answering service and takes her own calls - often at 2AM. Her patients don't seem to have an issue contacting her. And since she booked online, Heartbreak Hotel certainly had her E-mail address. Did they attempt to contact her via E-mail before cancelling? You guessed it... not a snowball's chance. The last straw was when Heartbreak Hotel's staff got really snarky when telling us - not implying mind you - how somehow it was all our fault. The manager was supposed to call my wife yesterday.... Again, guess what happened? Silence... You attempt to stay here for a getaway weekend and you do so at your own peril. A confirmation number evidently means nothing... and in out experience neither does the Heartbreak Hotel. read more

We always stay in the cottages (we come here to get away, after all!) and have always felt that HH is the best B&B we've ever stayed at. Everything is first class (the spacious cottages, beds, linens,breakfast, etc) and they go above & beyond with all of the extras. This place is worth every penny! Wow! My fiance bought us a weekend in one of the cottage rooms. The room we stayed in (202) was beautiful and perfectly setup for a romantic, quiet weekend. From the tempurpedic bed to the steam shower and jacuzzi we were in heaven! The view was really nice with an overlook of the river and landscape. They literally take care of every little detail.They left breakfast foods and snacks for us, as well as, cookies and ice cream for dessert (YUM!). We used the kitchenette and grill to cook for ourselves one evening and found everything we needed to prepare our meal; no oven but microwave/grill were sufficient for us. We visited a couple local wineries, restaurants and shops and had a great time in town. We will definitely be back as soon as we can get away. read more

This was our second year to come to Hermann Hill since we participated in their program, Some Time Next Year, and made plans to return the first time we visited. Once again we were not disappointed. You are first greeted when you arrive by one of the nicest and friendliest dogs, Lewis. He is a sweetheart. Once inside, you settle down to getting the essential information upon checking in. We stayed in the Norton suite again and were greeted by our welcome sign on our door. The balcony has a beautiful view of the town of Hermann. It is so peacefully quiet in the inn. The attention to detail in the suites is beyond measure. They have thought of everything including (robes, slippers, CD player, yoga mats, weights, cutting board, sharp knife, eye masks, ear plugs, coffee and tea maker, mugs, wine glasses, corkscrew, hair dryer, razors, etc). Each evening there is an appetizer bar complete with soup and frozen margaritas. The combination of the strawberry and regular margarita can't be beat. You can also make s'mores on the fire pit table on the deck that is complete with heaters to keep you warm in those cool months. We stayed out both nights in January for over two hours and were never cold! The beds are so comfortable and the spa tubs are so relaxing. You could stay for days and never have to leave your room. However, the thing that I think seals the deal is the amazingly prepared breakfast that is brought to your room piping hot. The pecan crusted French toast and the zesty mushroom quiche are among my favorites accompanied by a mimosa. We have already made plans to return again next year. Loved the welcome tray with meat/cheese/pretzels/wine/beer. We took full advantage of the margarita machine that afternoon! Loved the tray with ice cream and cookies that night. Loved the breakfast options in the morning. Our suite (Cynthiana) was beautiful, and the view from the balcony was amazing. The bathroom was huge and amazing, with a giant steam shower and a jet tub. Some of the jets weren't working properly while we were there, but I sure that will be fixed soon as we mentioned it to them the next morning. Never actually met the innkeepers, but the staff we did come across were friendly and accommodating. I wish we could have stayed more than one night, but Hermann was so fun I'm sure we'll plan a longer trip next time! read more

Cross-posting from my TripAdvisor review. Last year my husband and I snagged a Living Social deal for two nights at Hermann Hill for our anniversary. The deal was about half off the regular rate, and I said to myself "No way would I ever pay full price for this!" What can I say, I was raised to be very frugal. Well, the entire experience exceeded my expectations, and then some. We were treated to cheese, sausage, bread, and wine upon arrival, and given a personal welcome by Peggy, one of the inkeepers. We had chosen the Chambourcin suite, and it was a dream. A jacuzzi tub, a huge shower, our own private patio with hot tub, not to mention the comfy bed and huge TV. They also deliver cookies and ice cream to your room every night, and there was a selection of beverages available all day. Breakfast was delicious--custom ordered, delivered to our room, eaten on the patio with mimosas in the cool morning breeze. The inn is very accommodating--if you are a people person, there are plenty of opportunities to chat. But if you want to be left alone, you rarely have to interact with anyone. You can have breakfast in the dining room or have it delivered to your room. The inn is very private; despite the fact that they were at full occupancy, we only saw another guest once. I loved this--I'm an introvert and I don't want to make small talk with strangers on vacation. They have two lovely dogs on the property. I'm not a dog person and usually avoid them, but these dogs were so friendly and well behaved that I actually enjoyed them! I will say that the Chambourcin suite is right below the kitchen, and as a light sleeper, the sounds of breakfast being prepared above did wake me earlier than I would have liked. It was not a big deal, but the innkeepers might consider adding some additional soundproofing. Anyway, the experience blew us out of the water to the extent that we are returning this year, and we are trying out the Vignoles suite this time. I can't imagine another place I would rather go for some much-needed rest, relaxation, pampering, and couple time. read more

My husband and I decided to stay at a B&B for our anniversary. We are so glad we chose to stay here. Right before we even walked in the front door there was an 8x10 sign that had the names of the individuals checking in and congratulated those with birthdays and anniversaries. There was a very pleasant young lady that welcomed us and checked us in. She was very informative and super friendly. Once we were checked-in, she gave us a tour of our room. We more than happy with the Vignoles suite we chose. The room was cozy, modern, and spacious. We absolutely LOVE their walk-in shower. Once we were settled in our room, the same young lady brought some delicious wine, bread, cheeses and butter to our room to snack on. Around 10pm, the owner (Terry) brought us some of the most flavorful cookies and vanilla ice cream we have ever had. (They deliver cookies and ice cream nightly, between 930-10pm.) The next morning we were able to experience their scrumptious breakfast. This lovely lady made us some of the most tasty french toast and seafood frittata we've ever had. YUM!!! The mimosas were okay but still good. Overall, we loved this B&B AND definitely recommend it to those that want a romantic, cozy, lovely place to stay. read more

They thought of everything! For a romantic summer get away, our cottage 104 was perfect! From the indoor jacuzzi and steam shower, aromatherapy fireplace, balcony with hot tub, hammock and more the room was fabulous! Then add the friendly and helpful staff! The quality of Breakfast delivery exceeded our expectations! But seriously...it's the little things...bug spray, sunblock, Q-tips and cotton balls, sleep eye masks, robes, slippers and flip flops! Bottle openers, coffee ground and whole beans with a grinder!! And scented packs for the jacuzzi!!! A beautiful private view...I don't want to leave. Not to mention the frozen margaritas and Hot Dog bar in the main house! Highly recommended!! If you have a second couple there's room 103 attached that would share common spaces. read more

We've been coming here every year for the 15+ years. It is our gift to each other to reconnect and spend quality time together. Every detail, down to the smores for the outdoor fire pit to the cleanliness of the room was 5 star. Our breakfasts were delivered to our room per our request. We have eaten the pizza on the deck and enjoyed the complimentary margaritas at our arrival. The Vidal spa room is amazing. The deck overlooks the Missouri and a vineyard! I also scheduled a 90 minute stress fix massage that was outstanding. I can't say enough good things about Herman Hill and the town of Hermann. Enjoy! read more

This is a beautiful inn! We had a lovely weekend and found that they really think of everything. We felt so pampered, so relaxed after I did not want to leave! The breakfast was phenomenal. We opted to enjoy it outside on the deck overlooking the vineyard. Amazing! We also enjoyed the late cookie brownie. Their port sauce is amazing!! We will be back!! read more
