It's not very clean. They should be vacuuming the carpeted areas every day and mopping the floors. The bathrooms are gross. Only cold water from the taps and not all taps work. The bathrooms need a lot of work and there is no heat in the bathrooms. They also seem to be understaffed at times. which is frustrating when there is an issue with the lanes. read more

Bowling here is fine, though expensive. It was just under $50 for three of us to bowl two games each. We had our own equipment, so this did not include shoe rental. No idea how much that costs. We got to our lane quickly and were promptly interrupted by a waiter. I have been accustomed to having a waiter when bowling in leagues, because you don't have time to go back and for drinks and food. So, this threw us off. We only got water. He came back a few times and we didn't need or want anything else. We don't typically eat at the bowling alley when not in league play. The lanes are well maintained and clean. read more

We went to AMF for the evening with friends for something fun and different to do. We had a great time! Great, friendly service and clean facilities & they played great music. This new "lane reservation" deal AMF implemented is going to be a real turkey, bad for business IMO. No more, "Hey, let's go bowling" on a cold, rainy day. You have to reserve in advance and if your plans change too bad. You have to pay at time of reservation with no refunds. It starts with 2 people, so if you want to go practice for league by yourself, well you pay for 2 regardless, $65.32+ tax! And it wouldn't accept my coupon code. It automatically tacks on shoe rental at $11.98! It should ask if you need to rent shoes, not automatically tack them on. Fine, if you can spare the extra $12.00. I have my own equipment, shoes and balls, I don't need shoe rental. That shoe spray must have gotten mighty expensive for them to charge that much! So I backed out. It's not just AMF unfortunately, they are all going this route. Takes a lot of "balls" to "pin" that on consumers like this. read more

I was surprised by all the bad reviews here, as we had a great experience and fun time. The space is HUGE! There are lots of lanes so you can almost always walk in and get a spot. This place seems like the owners do not care. K-A should maybe stick a few dollars into a cleaning staff. Food is absolutely disgusting. A simple pretzel and cheese should not gross someone out. I cant believe theyd even bring the sauce over to someone. Yuck!! Pretty sure food poisoning will be on the rise!! Waitress is pretty cool. She's at least trying. Hands Tied. The kitchen area is soooo gross. Staff should be cleaning up after each order. The lane area was so dirty and salty dusted that a team member slipped and fell while throwing his ball. Why? Saturday afternoon wasn't too busy. It was our first time here and probably our last. We only chose it for the convenient location. The staff seems friendly enough, but it was a bit strange when attempting to order food I was pointed to order it at the bowling register. Wouldn't recommend their food, well at least not the chicken strips. It came with 4 strips for $10. Our bowling lane had a few issues with it not registering the correct amount of pins and the bowling balls were extremely greasy. No issues with the pool tables. Luckily 1 table was open, because the other 2 were covered and had something on them. Blowing and pool tables are paid by the hour. Their arcade games were alright. They have a variety of games even with a small area. For prizes you either have to play a lot or be amazing to win anything decent. read more

Southtown is a hugeeee bowling alley but it is also an older one with some outdated but classy bowling chairs and other amenities. They have a small little corner or arcade games for the kids. A nice bar with some pool tables and darts as well. I bowl on a league here which they have an easy shot for everyone. Leagues are a fun time down here. They have pretty good waitressing that will check in on you and see if you need more drinks or food. Now I highly recommend their food. It's pretty tasty. The only downside is the price and wait. I wanted a chocolate chip cookie but for some reason it was going to take a half hour to make? I didn't think cookies took that long to make so I just skipped it. And I know they can take awhile with their food. But I know from past experiences their cookies are amazing. read more

I mean.. this is a go-to place if you want to play pool, if you're on the south side of town. I've only bowled, played pool and drank here... never eaten. I don't recall any experiences that were note worthy, until this visit. A friend and I went to play some pool (I won by the way!) and after a very strong vodka cranberry, I was a little warm and wanted a glass of ice water. I walked up to the bartender, who was breaking down boxes, and asked for a glass of ice water please. His response was to turn around a point to a container of water, outside of the bar, and suggested I could get water from there. I just stared at him for a moment and walked away and asked my friend (since those two hit it off so well) if he would ask the bartender for water for me. As I'm walking away towards him, he yells, if you wait a moment, I'll get you a glass of water... and then he brought it to me. *blink blink blink* What happened to great service, ppl? #deepsigh Anyway, bathrooms were clean, they are normally known for having leagues, which is what was happening that weekday evening and they now have new games and a new look in the poolhall.bar area. I absolutely love this place! My husband and I make it a point to come here at least once a week to shoot some pool and have a few beers maybe a shot or two. It's a great place to unwind and relax we usually go at 8 PM or later and as long as there's no bowling league it's pretty calm but I don't even mind when it's not because it's fun. I love the vibe it's definitely chill, relaxed, and nice. I would definitely recommend coming here to bowl or play pool or even throw some darts to unwind and relax. read more

Huge bowling alley with 40 some lanes! This place has been in Southtown forever! The shoes were clean, plenty of ball options, easy electronic score keeping, they also have an arcade, and waitress service. Typical bowling alley food.., hot dogs (tasty), hamburgers, fries (yum), pizza (good) etc. I like the bar area and I like they serve a good drink at a reasonable price! As I drive by American Blvd I see AMF Lanes but where is the entrance? Asked someone walking in the parking lot and entrance is in back. No sign of course. Yuck! What is that awful smell as I enter? Nasty carpet or smelly rental bowling shoes? Two hours of bowling and shoe rental is $13 something. 2 games and shoe rental is $11 plus tax. There are 48 lanes here. Shoes are true to size here. Looked everywhere for a ball. Thumbs too big for some. Computerized scoring is good. Lane didn't reset once. Pressed button, attendant fixed it fast. Free pitchers of water. Attendant asked if we needed food and drinks. Good service. Please shampoo carpet or replace. I've bowled better at Memory Lanes. Inquire about specials to save money. Will I return? We are now regulars at Southtown as we live in Bloomington. We started last fall on a league. We bought the summer pass (which is a HUGE deal even if you only want to bowl a handful of times from now until Labor Day - totally recommend it!) The alley is short-staffed BUT Katie, Alex, and Jim somehow manage to check in bowlers, cook, and tend the bar. I don't know how they do it! We get fabulous service and the staff is so friendly and accommodating. Today was Father's Day and was busy. I was so impressed how the staff was able to manage. While waiting to close out my tab, I explained to a party who was new to the venue and waiting to order that Southtown only had a few workers and he smiled and understood the situation. You cannot have it all but you can have a good old time at AMF Southtown Lanes if you choose to. And last weekend I chose to. And I sure did. Maybe too good of a time but I was not driving so there is that. Went here to play darts where we had not played darts since turning 21 many moons ago. The place has not been updated and I loved every minute of it. Nowadays every establishment wants to outdo the next and I am not having it. Give me a dart board and a drink and I am good to go. It was a Friday night and we had to show ID to get a few sets of darts. No big deal, just an FYI. The guys ordered a pitched of Blue Moon and I had 2 Long Islands. I was happy to taste they were poured with a strong hand and shocked that the price was $5.50. Might find me here more often! The also offer blowing, pool, air hockey and a variety of video games to keep the little ones entertained. We ordered some cheese sticks and unlike other reviews I have seen here they arrived way quicker than anticipated. Maybe we just had good luck. Order at your own risk is what I hear. The terrible service here is quite epic. I might even suggest going to see how bad service can be just to experience it. I'm used to getting bad service here (or really none at all), but tonight took it to an obscene new level. I ordered a bottle of beer with the server that was on our lane. I joked with my friend that there was a 50% chance I would get that beer based on experience. No joke or exaggeration, when I order something, only about half the time do I get it. I bowl in a league there, and we know everyone in the league pretty well. We finish the first game... no drinks (again, we ordered before we started the first game). Before long we realize the 2 lanes next to us ordered drinks and never got them as well. So finally we call the guy behind the desk over and told him none of us got our drinks. He proceeds to take our order again. About 20 minutes pass, still no drinks. Finally the team we were bowling against went straight to the bartender. It took about 20 minutes for a pitcher of beer that the bartender filled maybe 2/3 of the way full. Finally I went to the bar to get the bottle of beer I ordered twice now. The bartender was taking about as long as one can possibly take to pour a beer. There was one person in front of me who was ordering for their team... they kept switching who was waiting in line so they could keep bowling. The bartender was taking about 5 minutes per customer. It also took them a good 10 minutes to begin fixing our lane that got stuck. Literally it was all our entire league was talking about all night. The level of incompetence here is truly astounding. Like I said, it's always been bad here, I've just never seen anywhere near the level of insanely bad customer service at any place ever like it is here. read more

I actually never checked the reviews for this place until I recently went. I can say this place has really gone down hill compared to the countless times I've been here. I remember coming here with my family when I was a little kid and having so much fun! However, the more I come to this place the more I see why the reviews have dropped. I saw a deal on Groupon and immediately jumped on it, because like I said I've been here many times to bowl. Upon arriving at around 7:50ish - we told Amanda that we had a Groupon. She told us that it doesn't work after 6PM. I told her that it clearly states on the Groupon that it's only says, "invalid on Saturdays after 6pm". If that was the case then maybe they need to add that onto their Groupon! She took my phone and furiously slid up and down trying to read the fine print for anything that says invalid after 6pm. She told me she would take it "this time". I just said, "okay, thank you". I was still irritated that it obviously didn't say that it's invalid after 6pm on a Sunday. While we bowled we tried to get food when everyone else did, but the kitchen was apparently closed?? It was 8:30PM, maybe a little earlier than that. The entire time we were bowling we heard another employee calling out her name over the mic "Amanda, I need you at the desk" or just saying "Amanda" into the mic. That's how I found out what her name was. I know a few other families around us were looking around and speaking about it too. Unfortunately, this wasn't the place I remembered it to be. The bowling balls were super greasy, it didn't matter where I went to find it around the place. The bumpers didn't go up for one of the kid's that wanted them, but we didn't even want to bother her. Shitty service, at check out it was nothing what they told us about pricing when we got there. 54$ for two games and 3 people. Food pictures really deceiving shows about 10+ wings and you get about 5 also chicken "tenders" shows about 10 you get small more like "chicken nuggets" (4) and extremely small plate for 23$. Another customer even came out after seeing the dispute and said yes every time he comes, horrible service and that the two guys who run the place are "idiots". read more

Searching around for a cheap bowling location on a Sunday I found out about AMF its been around for ages and remember going here a few year back. They have a deal where its $5 unlimited bowling for 2hours the shoes are not included about 5bucks for shoe rental. Add the two together you get $10 bucks for two hours not bad we got 4games in between three people. Checking their website they have deals on the daily so check the website before going. They also open late on weekends until 2AM. Sundays closing at 10PM. I would have gave this location 3/5 if it weren't for the super friendly staff everyone was so darn nice! We also ordered the "team extreme" appetizer platter it was the right amount of food for a small size for 3 people. not bad for $12. They also have about 40ish lanes so its not too packed and a few arcade games in the back. I'll be back for my bowling needs in the near future now only if i can figure out how to get some spares and strikes in. read more

Stopped here to bowl with my husband and two year old while on vacation. Things started out well. We started on a lane and then we were told we were moving to another lane to save room for a league. The helper rack for kids was broken and came apart every time we moved it. I ordered French fries and they took 45 minutes to come. I ordered a beer and the bartender was rude and made a comment implying my ID was fake. This made me feel even less welcome as an out of towner. My husbands credit card was placed on hold (when apparently they don't hold cards for games) and accidentally placed in their safe...? Decided to go out on a Saturday night with a total of four people. The entire reason we decided on going is because we had a Groupon for a party of four. We gave them a call once they opened to reserve a lane, and the lady we spoke to said we couldn't do so with a Groupon. She then told us that with a Groupon it is first come, first serve deal. Then she told us that there's a league going on at the moment and we would have to wait until 7:00 P.M. to come in, and it would be better to wait until 7:30 to give them a chance to sanitize. Her tone was very rude and when the conversation was over she just hung up without saying goodbye or bothering to tell us that you can only use coupons before 6 P.M. Fast forward to 7:00 and we get there to find this place PACKED with people. No enforcement on social distancing. When we finally to get to the front of the line, the staff member had a huge attitude, said coupons were only good before 6:00, and the waiting list is 1:30 long. We were put on a waiting list and we went to play some pool. I offered to buy my party drinks and thought Long Island's would be great. I waited in the long line to the bartender for at least 15 minutes because they only had one bartender working on a busy night. When I finally arrived to her, I ordered four Long Island's to be met with the bartender getting upset and saying "FOUR?!" in disbelief. I felt so bad for her that I even gave her an extra tip to try and cheer her up, and she just took it without even saying anything. Overall, food was bad, staff was rude, service was horrible. And we finally did get to bowl, we only had two bowling balls in our lane and were told to go "scavenge" bowling balls from other people. I took my grandson and his friend to Southtown Bowl on Superbowl Sunday in Hope's it wouldn't be to crowded. It was noon and it was pretty quiet. We bowled 3 games each. The boys did have to rent shoes. We were done in an hour and 15 minutes. Our bill was $70.28. Now I know why no one was bowling. They don't even give young people a price break. read more

They told us they had thrown away the ticket and would remake it. No apology. Another 30 minutes go by. Our incomplete order was brought to us by a disgruntled employee. When I had to go back to counter to ask for the rest of the order, there was another unhappy customer waiting for answers on their food. Woman behind counter offered excuse of being really busy. I tried to empathize and said it must be hard to work in such a small area...to which she replied, " I don't mind brushing up on all the young guys all night!" I don't care how you get your kicks but when my kids are starving and we've already overpaid for everything, I want a courteous recovery effort made to ensure you care if I return to your establishment or not. Staff was low class from front to back except for the gentleman cleaning. Despite his efforts, the place has a rancid odor apart from normal bowling alley expectations. Went here on Black Friday with out of town family: Four adults and four kids 8 and under. First, they did not honor their posted prices, stating the Black Friday is a "holiday" so the weekday prices were invalid. Second, the cost of shoes was not posted anywhere and due to the high cost ($7 per game), I assumed shoe cost was included. We found out it was not when we went to pay and it came to $100 for ONE game for the 8 of us. We will not be back, $100 for one game of bowling for 2 families is outrageous. Went here with some friends, it used to be a pretty cool place "back in the day." It's the next best alternative since Airport Bowl & Burnsville Bowl have been closed down. Pricing is NOT cheap, holy s**t. It ended up being like $18.50ish for 2 games w/ shoes or $20.00 for 2 hours and then pay for shoes on top of that. Exactly why I miss Airport Bowl, they had "$1 Games, $1 Beers, $1 Shoe Rentals" on 2 nights out of the week. It was old-fashioned in the sense that you had to keep your own score but that was kind of fun. We had 6 people in our group, and I don't think a fun activity like bowling should have to cost around $150.00 for 2 games of bowling as a group, that's insane. Not all the lights and music can make up for what I think it should be valued at versus what they charge. But here's the kicker! After our first game ended, the screen read something to the effect of "please see command desk for another game," and we thought, "that's odd, we all payed for 2 games, shouldn't the next 1 just start right up?" So my friend goes and talks with the African-American fellow at the counter (probably 20's or 30's) and he tells my friend "not to come up here with that attitude" when he clearly wasn't even being rude, just asking why the next game didn't start. The guy at the desk then proceeds to ask for all our receipts to see that we actually all paid for 2 games when he was the one who rang our group up not more than 20 minutes prior! He then took all the receipts with him back to the desk and started the new game without apologizing for the inconvenience. . as a big "f**k you" we all decided to pin our receipts to our shirts for the 2nd game in cased we faced any further scrutiny. I will be searching for a new bowling alley next time the group decides that "a bowling night out" sounds fun. This clearly is not the place it once was, I actually used to enjoy this place. Ordered food in the second frame and was told it would be delivered to out lane. By the 7th frame we asked where it was and told "it would be delivered next". I have been coming here for the past 2 years on Monday nights for the bowling league. Workers usually seem frumpy or disinterested. Food is overpriced and not worth the money. They scolded me passive aggressively for bringing in my own McDonald's or Wendy's on different occasions. We always at least get a soda, and even just that is more than 3 bucks for a medium fountain pop. Lanes can be sketchy if not oiled properly. I still love the atmosphere of the regular league bowlers here and hear great stories from them. Southtown is a love hate relationship, just don't have too high of expectations. Standard bowling alley, nothing to write home about. read more
