Bowlero/Lucky Strike does not care about its league bowlers or their concerns. It is consistently short staffed, and with the exception of Tasha, the management we've encountered has been rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. My son-in-law arrived before I did and wanted to order food. He witnessed a manager , who was apparently the ONLY employee in the building at the time--speaking rudely to an older woman and actually slamming the scanner down on the counter. He texted me that he was leaving because he was not staying somewhere where an older customer was treated that way. There are also some serious concerns with the women's restroom. The stall doors do not close completely, which is uncomfortable and unacceptable. And I'm honestly very thrown off by the lounge area that has now been set up OUTSIDE the bathrooms. It's not only an odd setup--it's a little (okay, a LOT)creepy. On top of that, because Bowlero is so quick to ban people, you don't really feel comfortable complaining. You never know when you might be banned without any recourse. Everything seems to be based on hearsay from management, and honestly, that's a joke.It's no surprise they have a class-action lawsuit against them. As a league bowler, I expect to feel welcomed and respected, not like an inconvenience. Management needs to take these concerns seriously and do better. read more

Hosted a company outing here. When went up to check in with the staff, stood there for 5 min before anyone bothered to acknowledge me, in spite of the fact I was the only one at the counter and it was 3 workers. One had his head stuck in some tablet and the other two were just chit chatting. I was prepared to wait as long as possible to see how long it would take for them to acknowledge me. When one did, she acted like I was truly bothering her. But my coworkers and I still had a great time. The pizza was delish and the chicken too. Although I was not pleased with the 92 grade I saw on the kitchen wall, but our event was paid for in advance so just had to deal. I haven't been to this alley in years so I was glad to see that the floors were not a dingy carpet anymore. Also I would have thought since we spent quite a bit of money with this reservation that at some point a manager would have came over and introduced themselves and thanked us for the business. Had a fun date night here and it was fun! The staff is very laid back and chill. The bowling alley is clean and had plenty of space inside. Not only can you bowl here but they also have games. They sell a variety of food here hotdogs, wings, pizza and more. The games are very affordable! read more

Came to Charlotte to visit friends and we went to amf to have a little fun and bond togethe. The place was pleasantly nice and seemed to have been updated. Ok, I don't like to post bad reviews, but I think a big company like AMF can handle the bad review and will hopefully do something about this particular location. We've been here twice. - The staff acts like they have somewhere better to be. The first time we were here, the woman stared at her phone for a solid good time before acknowledging us and even then still proceeded to finish her text before helping us with an attitude. -They place all their customers right next to each other as opposed to trying to spread them out. -It's not easy to find the ball you want and they look pretty beat up. -The bathrooms are gross. -They have billiards tables but it never looked used so I'm not sure it's available. -It's expensive on the weekend! Bowling 3 games with my partner went by pretty quickly and we easily spent over $50 within an hour. -The good: the bowling lane and technology all worked as expected. Yay for the bare minimum. -Tip: Go during one of their special unlimited bowling nights and have low expectations for service. read more

Oh this is the bowling alley that time has forgotten which I would be fine with if the prices matched the older/rundown motif they are sporting! At $6 per person per game and then shoe rentals on top of that it is not cheap. They do have a a few specials during the week which makes it more doable. I am ok with the older feel of the place but the bathrooms are in need of some serious help!!! Not only were they far from clean there was a smelll coming from them that was not pleasant!!! We bowled right at a lane in front of them and could smell them the whole time. If you do go to this place do not use the lanes at that end of the alley! They do have plenty of parking and it is easy to get to now that the light rail construction is finally finished. read more

Stopped in after work needing to decompress. Still trying to figure out which alleys around the metro are good and a good value and today I wound up here. Light rail running down the middle of Tryon makes getting in and out easy, just gotta pace the train and crossover when you can. Pulled into a mostly empty lot marked for vehicles way smaller than my other truck but I managed to get parked without obstructing traffic or infringing on other spaces. Pool tables and a service bar to the right walking in, various machines to separate you and your cash on the left. Snack bar, service desk, regular bar, and lockers as you continue down the aisle. The lanes are appropriately super bright but the whole rest of the place seems dark in comparison - flooring could use a re-fresh to lighten things up, maybe some retro-vinyl tiles?? That would involve better and more frequent attention to cleanness which would in turn help the condition of the lanes. The lanes near me seemed to be in good repair: pin setter working smoothly and the ball return does just that; the scorer scores but the hand-fan kinda blows. However, the bowler's area and approaches have way too much 'outside' on them. Brand new pair of shoes are pretty filthed-up and non-slidey after just a few lines. Not sure why people think it's acceptable to wear street shoes on the deck but I see it everywhere lately. read more

This is a place that's inconvenient and extremely unorganized. On Christmas day, we went for bowling at 5:30pm and was told the price to be 3.79 per game. We played a couple and wanted to leave by 7:15pm. They made a change of price to more than 5.50 because it's a holiday and charged us without ever consenting us. On top of this, they cleared the beer-full pitcher at the counter when we went to a washroom break. We left all our belongings at the counter. Went last night around maybe 5 or 6pm, wasn't really busy so we gave it a shot,but the carpet was sooooooooooo dirty omfg, for starters this place just have a very off vibe, anyway we get shoes and we go to our lane before we bowl i asked the front desk to clean off the table before there was a half empty beer and sauce on the table and the table was sticky, he took the cups but didn't wipe off the table so i decided not to make a fuss about it. 3rd frame in us thinking that they would bring the food to us or call our lane , which they didn't we had to walk back and forth to go pick up our food. by far the food was good but fries were salty as hell the ONLY positive thing i can say is that the sprite was nice & cold read more

From 11 pm until closing at 2 am, $16 gets you unlimited bowling. Friday and Saturday. The lights are dim, the speakers play good music (with the videos over the lanes), the beer is cheap, and the crowd gets loud. You can't help but have a good time. Even the worn floors and dingy walls contribute to the atmosphere. It is the bowling equivalent of a first-rate dive bar. I have grown accustomed, at entertainment venues, to paying a fortune for all the peripherals. Alcohol, especially, can come with a 300% markup over retail. Not so here. Two orders of fries were five dollars. Pitchers of beer were flowing just as cheaply. This was awesome. I had heard, before coming, that this place had a sketchy reputation. It is in a really rough area, I was told. The security guards had metal detectors and weren't messing around, but this was not a "sketchy" place. There were teenagers, adults, and even families. No kids were there so late, but they wouldn't have been out of place. I can only find one explanation for the alley's reputation. Other than my 5 friends, there wasn't another white person in the building. Unfortunately, Charlotte being what it is, this has all kinds of strange influence on people's opinions. But that is their loss - this was one of the best nights I've had in a long long time. read more

I like to bowl about once a year & this fit the bill! We went on a Thursday afternoon & they had a special to bowl unlimited games with unlimited pizza for two hours for $14/pp. We weren't hungry & said no to the special until she told us the total ($70???) so we got the special & just didn't have pizza. The alley is nice & they played an excellent mix of music with the videos on the big screens at the end of the alley (even a Jerry Lee Lewis video from the 50's!!!) They even have a "jukebox to choose music from. The staff was pleasant & very helpful & even picked out the perfect ball for me before I even asked (they are behind the counter). They have 1/2 sized shoes so we bowled away & had a great time! (I broke 100 twice & my sweetie broke 150!) The lanes are so old and most don't even work well. The staff doesn't really keep track of the ones that aren't working either. When we were there last time they put us on a lane where the 6 pin would fall between rolls. We brought it to their attention and they switched us to a different lane. After some time they put another group in the broken lane that we were previously at. Like why would you assign a lane to a group when you know it's not working properly? Sure enough, the other group moved to another lane too. What a waste of everyone's time! The scoring system is pretty archaic too. No animations, colors etc. also, little tables next to the bowling section would have been convenient. If we get drinks, there's nowhere to put them handy. There are so many great bowling alleys in the area. If they don't step up their game, I'm not sure how they would make it. I for one will not bowl here again. read more

I came on a Saturday night. Bowling was good- just your usual bowling alley. However, if you want to get a drink- forget about it! There was 1 bar tender on a Saturday night!!! We waited about 30 min for our beer tower. When that finished we tried getting another MULTIPLE TIMES with friends switching in and out of place at the bar so we could continue to play. It never happened. At this point we didn't even want to give the bar our money. Very disappointed in this aspect of the business. This needs to be resolved ASAP if they want to continue to make money at the bar. read more

I'm not an avid bowler by any means. This may be the third time I have been bowling, but I can tell you that this bowling alley is really good. They constantly have deals, like the TWOsday deal where everything is 2.22 cents on Tuesdays. The service is pretty average but how much service do you need at a bowling alley. I had a lot of fun here and I ordered a cinnamon pretzel. (Really good). The atmosphere wasn't Ghetto or dark to me, but it may have been the time that we went from 7:00 to about 10:00. The lanes are well lit and the place seems like it is kept up well. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because it seems like there was not enough people working there. They seemed like they where spread pretty thin. The same person who handed me the shoes got me my pretzel and fixed the lanes for us. I feel like they need a few more people there to help all of the people. It was 40 lanes and only 4 or 5 employees. But that is no reason to not go to this place it's just something to remember. read more

This place is a disaster. My other and I came here last night and I was completely disappointed. This is not the first time we have been here and though it has always been a dump with poor service, we have tolerated it because it's close and it has never been THAT bad until last night. We started off with playing pool and it is as if a daycare was being ran. MULTIPLE kids running around monopolizing the majority of the tables. The tables that were available either were falling apart and were in horrible condition or they were eating quarters and were inoperable. The service at the bar was very slow and for it being understaffed, you would think that the bartender would have a little more pep in his step but dude had ZERO sense of urgency and zero shi*s were given.... the juke box also was not working and ate $5 of our money. The manager helped us out and I will say, she was very nice. After playing pool we were ready to bowl and unfortunately that didn't happen. There were two lines going and once we made it to the front, our cashier left..... no explanation, no "I will be right with you", just walked away. By that time there was nobody in the other line and dude at that register was twiddling his thumbs. I asked him if he could help us out and he told us that he has to wait for the other cashier to return - what!? I am normally a very patient person but I couldn't deal with it any longer and we decided to leave. We will not be returning. I don't know if the owner ever visits but he/she really needs to. Today, June23, I went to University Lanes to bowl. Upon my arrival I requested Lanes in a specific area. I was offered Lanes 20 & 21. There was a group still on the Lanes as they had finished bowling. I waited a while and I informed the person at the desk that they were still on the Lanes. He then placed me at Lanes 37 & 38 and I asked why he could not place me on the opposite end and he said none were available when there were more than six different pair available. I went to the Lanes assigned and there were balls on the Lanes. I took the balls off the lane and rolled across the floor near where they would be placed. The manager (Keith I think was his name) came by and said I could have injured someone by rolling the balls across the floor even though there were no one who could have been injured. When I got ready to bowl the board was not on. I went to the desk to ask why the board was not on and the young African American there provided no explanation. When I went to the Manager he informed me that because of me rolling the balls he was not going to let me bowl today. I asked him to give me back the three games that I had paid for and he said he would. I went to my car and came back in and he now stated that he would have to talk to his manager and let him know what happen and I would have to get my three games from him. I found that to be less than acceptable. The attitude of this manager and the young man behind the desk was not acceptable in my opinion. I did apologize for rolling the ball across the floor and the manager accepted it but said he felt that because of my actions today he was not going to let me bowl. I have been an active Bowler in this house for over 20 years but the different changes in management here over the last few years has caused other leagues and bowlers to leave because of the poor attitide and hostility towards bowlers. I participate more than two leagues a week here as well as have put on functions here for my club. I'm not worried about three games not being bowled today but the poor approach by management is becoming less acceptable by many of the league bowlers as myself. The Customer Value here says we don't won't you or need you to manage this house. In this house the client/customer is never right only those who appear to be in charge (employees) have utopia over those who are paying their salaries. I just moved here from Va. The bowling alleys up there at least act like they want you to come back. I never have been to a place in the middle of the day that wants a credit card or debit card before you bowl. Its 4pm I was the only one there its not like its full of people and I can sneak out. Not that I would, you should be able to Judge your clientele. I aim 55 and can't run very fast I was parked in the handicapped space, had my own equipment ie ball shoes and so on.I realize crooks come in all shapes and sizes but really. I was very excited at first because I hadn't bowled since Covid started. To the meat and potatoes which you can't get there because the guy at the snack bar was more interested in entertaining his girlfriend the helping a paying customer. But I digress, so the lanes were bearly working. When my lane got turned on the lights over the pins did not immideately come on. The lady working the front desk had to search for a switch to get them on. The only thing that was passable was my scores. The lanes and my ball worked well together, but I just can't get over not being able to be served at the snack bar. Is that where bowling alleys make a good chunk of their profit from food and drink sales ? Maybe the person who was back there not waiting on customers but entertaining his lady friend was doing me a favor by not serving me. Obviously my money meant nothing to that part of the establishment. I think I will try other AMF alley in the area and see which one could possibly be more dreadful at the snack bar. Recently, this bowling alley hosted a bowling event that I organized for my family reunion. It was a group size of about 25 people. The $15.58 two hour bowling, shoe rental and all you can eat pizza per person deal was awesome and perfect for a large group event. The food, service and atmosphere was top notch!
