It's good being able to get back inside a library! My last visit was just a outside pick-up like restaurants are all doing. This time I could actually walk inside just with all the now normal covid precautions. Clearfield isn't a large library but just right for my needs today without the larger library 'wandering around' feel. There was a decent amount of people there, not crowded but enough to see the library is being used. They had an interesting wire art exhibit. Not sure how long it's been there. The picture actually don't do it justice. More people should go to libraries! Such a nice free experience to enjoy.

    New library card !

Well it's been so long since I've had a library card that the system that I used to be such a part of no longer remembered me. I did love the library so much before the iPad and the internet. I would never have to beg to go to the library, I could walk, ride my bike or drive any time I wanted to. Oh and I was a voracious reader. Well recently I had to have my daughter get me all the episodes of Game of Thrones because it was available, much to my surprise at the library! And didn't have any connection to the library anymore. So as I binge watched the whole series and kept hearing as I was reading various books that she was listening to them through the library, I decided it was time to go back ... back to the future. Since it was my daughter who got me hooked on all things Apple now she was taking me back to the library. I stopped in there today to get my own card. I went to the one on Audubon and parked right in front. The door opened before I got to it and there was a huge sign requesting masks. Not a problem. I went in and found a large selection of books for sale and the librarian on the left and self checkout and assistance on the right. Since I was no longer in the system I had to fill out a paper form and take it to the right. My information was entered. I was asked if I wanted to pick from a key tag or two different designs of wallet cards. Selecting the Buffalo scene wallet card, the assistant scanned it and I selected a PIN number. She shared all the late fee information and the drop box information. The Audubon location has a computerized drop box that reads the books when you put them in. However that's the only branch with that feature. It was all very simple and I'm ready to listen or read or watch anything from the library. I can download their app or go to the brick and mortar and look around. Welcome back!

Lots of parking but smaller location compared to some of the other libraries in the system. Almost half the library is dedicated to kids. The other half is 1/4 magazine and couches/chairs, 1/4 new books and tables, and remainder is everything else (adult non fiction, fiction, DVDs, CDs, etc). Seating isn't great to stay and read because there's nowhere semi-private. Only two slider chairs by window. Even though I was there during the week on lunch, it was packed. Maybe because of summer? Long story short, I wouldn't hangout to read here because it's too busy and not quiet. There are 9 computers to work on, and they are very close to one another. Library itself was clean while I was there though and staff was friendly. Large selection of audio books and DVDs, including Bluetooth and lots of TV series to choose from. CD selection not as large. Lots of large print books. The rest of books are ordered by call number, but unlike other libraries that have the letters for the call numbers posted on edge of shelf, this one doesn't.

    Grabbing a couple fun-and-freaky fall reads. #HauntedBOOfalo

Our previous experience at the Clearfield Library branch was less than ideal. But it seems to have been an isolated incident. Since then, we've been back to Clearfield several times, when they have a material we want that is not available anywhere closer. Or we have ended up at Clearfield when their hours are better than closer branches. Clearfield stays open later more days than several other branches, which is usually more convenient for our family. My last stop was actually on the way to Audubon Library, but I popped into Clearfield first because according to the online catalog, they had a copy of a very popular book in stock that I'd been eyeing for some time. I went in, checked the shelf where it should be, and nope, it wasn't there. I thought perhaps I'd just missed it, since it is so popular. But a friendly librarian checked the re-shelving areas behind the counter, and was able to find it for me. That was great service! We'll continue to stop into the Clearfield Library when their hours and/or availability are what we need.

First Yelp Book Club selection. They had it in stock! Yay!

I was there in early May when everything is just starting. They had a little library book sale and I picked up a David Sedaris book for a quarter. There is a great children's section. There is also a wonderful remembrance area for Flight 3407, in the back. This library also had a cute Sherlock Holmes display case that was donated to the library. This library is clean and beautifully maintained. The librarians were friendly as well. There is a large parking lot. For a Friday afternoon it was quite busy. They had a great work area for people wanting a quiet space.

Plus they were open later, which is convenient for us. So after work, off we went. The Clarence Library has plenty of parking in a big lot, which was light-and-bright on a cold, dark night. As soon as you walk in, you can see the full expanse of the vaulted, open space. It is a nice-sized library, with well-marked sections. Movies are to the right, adult books to the left, teen and children materials in the back, periodicals in the back-right corner, with all the other sections you'd expect to find at a library somewhere in between. There were computer workstations spread out in pod-like setups throughout the space, a few together in each pod, and some chunks of seating areas too. It took me a minute to find my Harry Potter items, as the books were not in Youth or YA, but rather in a separate "Series" section in the middle of the library. And the movies were in a separate "Family Viewing" section, too. But a friendly librarian helped me find everything that I needed, which was all in stock. Clarence is a very nice, bright, inviting library. When we need something and the hours/availability are convenient again at Clarence Library, we'll be back! :-)

This library has been one of my three main ones to frequent in our area. On a more recent visit, picking up classic movies..both MA MA Mias...I found my self checking out their bulletin board on upcoming events. This is what brings me to my review....events and things to do were a variety for kids and adults. This particular library has adult color kits, and had a sign posted for paint night. Glad to have signed up...Kim our intrustor was helpful and patient for any of us with questions. There were a total of 13, with the instructor. The event was a creative, simple and each of us had different interpretations of the original painting. A bonus for all of us, Kim is an elementary art teacher. Great, stress-free relaxing evening...guess one never knows what they will find at your local library. Thanks Kim and Lancaster Library for hosting the event.

My quest to explore various Erie Country library branches had us landing in Lancaster last week…read more WOW, what a beautiful branch! It's an expansive, open main space with a dome-shaped vaulted ceiling adorned with big glowing orbs of bright light. A bit poetic of a description maybe, but this space really feels poetic. Even if you don't need anything from the library, it would be worth a visit. There is a massive copper fireplace, such a darling place to relax or study, just a lovely aesthetic in general here. If you are coming for particular resources, there's a good chance that the Lancaster location has what you need. There are many cubicle-style computer workstations in the middle of the room. In the front adjacent to a big wall of windows is the children's area. My son had fun with the legos and other blocks, as well as found a cozy spot to do his homework. There are several rows of DVDs and CDs along the middle-side wall, with the opposite wall housing stacks and stacks of books in all the genres you'd expect. Magazines are in the back near the fireplace. I like the "new" displays at this library, and actually came across a new book I forgot I wanted to read (the newer Demi Moore tell-all biography, winning!), plus there were newly released DVD and CD racks too. Perusing the rows and rows of materials to find something that catches your eye can be intimidating in any library, so I appreciate when librarians take time to showcase new offerings that may spark interest. Parking for this library is in the rear off of a side road, and there is plenty of it. When you enter the back door, it is a flight of stairs or an elevator ride to get up a level to the main space. The main space has some vending options if you want a beverage or snack. And there appears to be lots of community programming happening her too, with racks of flyers and many bulletin boards of happenings for people of all ages and varying interests. Checkout the library website for specifics. I really enjoyed hanging out here for a couple hours with my husband and son. My son did his homework, played with toys, he and his dad played checkers for a while, we all relaxed and read a bit, and found some things to bring home. What more could you ask, the Lancaster library is a very pleasant, solid branch. Come and enjoy!
