DO NOT purchase a Groupon with this salon. The up-charging exceeds the Groupon cost. I hate leaving bad marks but I can't recommend this place at all. I started out with a Groupon purchase which was $65. On their Groupon and website they clearly stated that they do charge $15 extra for hair longer than shoulder blade length, so I anticipated that $15 charge. I also wanted my base color touched up so I also anticipated that. What I didn't anticipate was that I'd be charged for any products used. As soon as I advised I'd purchased a Groupon, they explained that they'd fulfill it BUT I'd have to pay an additional $50 for the color touch-up (which is the full price for a single process color) and additionally, they didn't plan on using products such as toner on the highlights or color unless I paid $20 extra for that too. Then there was the $15 long hair charge. (As a stylist, I can't imagine letting anyone walk out of my salon without toning freshly bleached hair and I've never charged a client for the products used in addition to the service.) Their proposed amount worked out to be around what I would have had to pay them anyway, had I not purchased a Groupon at all. I've bought Groupons for salons in the past and was only charged extra when I had very long hair, which was usually around $15-20. I have never been charged additional for the products used during the service, in addition TO the service purchased. This wasn't a case of separating the product cost from the services, which some salons may do although I've never heard of it happening to anyone before. Usually, if you purchase, for example, say, a deep conditioning treatment, they don't charge you for the treatment PLUS the conditioner. If you purchase full highlights, they do them and don't charge extra for the product they use to create the highlights such as toner. Their up-charging today exceeded the price I've paid in the past at other salons with no Groupon at all...which is why I decided to walk out. This isn't a poshy salon, it's a 3 chair place in a strip mall. I have been to poshy salons where my hair cost upwards of $150 to do, but I was never charged additional fees for products. Too afraid I'd be charged 10 cents per piece of foil they pulled from the box or something else equally as absurd, I decided to leave before anything happneed. I requested a refund for my Groupon and was advised that I'd have to contact Groupon myself to try to get that done. I'm not sure why they sell Groupons at all. They're going to charge you full price for everything that Groupon includes. read more
