    Pesto chicken sandwich
    Riley H.

Stopped here while passing through to Charlottesville. Great food! Stromboli was delicious! Pesto chicken sandwich was great too. Our waitress was super helpful with menu recommendations and service was fast. Quiet ambiance, not many people sitting down to eat. Would certainly come back though!

Desperate one night without a dinner plan, we turned to takeaway pizza. We live closer to Scottsville than to Charlottesville proper, and fairly in the middle of nowhere; delivery isn't an option, so it was the perfect opportunity to try Amici's and save a longer drive. First of all, looking at the menu ahead of time I was just amazed at the prices for the pizzas--definitely cheaper than your standard takeout pizzas at the pizza joints in town. Perks of small-town life. I like it. We opted for just a one-topping sausage pizza (we have a toddler who is just learning to use his molars and so our usual order full of ever topping imaginable seemed unwise.) Again, the price point was right on: including tax, we slid $14 bucks over for our large pizza and got change back. Cha-ching. Flavor-wise it's right there with your typical American pizza joint; no frills, no fancy, just cheesy, slightly greasy goodness. The crust was chewy but crisp and not too thick. The sausage was actually quite flavorful and better than what I remember from atop delivery chain pies, but again, we're not talking artisan here. Other notes: the pizza was not the greasiest, but they still slid an extra sheet of parchment paper under the pizza, to try to keep that cardboard box recyclable, so that was cool. For the price point and our location, I will definitely revisit Amici's next time I'm looking for a big slice of satisfying pizza. Most pizza wins in my eyes, and I was a fan. Would definitely be interested to try their other menus items, too, to see what's up. Gotta love Scottsville!

Can't believe we would stumble upon this lovely spot for a some fire Italian food. The portions were huge and the food tasted like a warm hug. Everything was truly delicious! My whole family ordered the Calamari, Spinach dip, Linguine Carbonara, Calzone, and Pesto Pizza. Everything was just so good. Totally hidden gem in Scottsville :)

This is a hidden gem in Scottsville! My family and I stopped by here to eat after kayaking at Reeling & Rafting. The food here was wonderful and it was on point! The shrimp and spinach dip was not salty at all and the seasoning was just right! The bread was very soft and it went well with the dip. If you are ever hungry and in town, this is the place to go! BEWARE THE QUANTITY OF THE FOOD IS A LOT!

Perfect place to go after kayaking!!! This place was highly rated on yelp, so our family decided give it a try. As soon as we got the appetizers, we knew why!!! It was soooo good! Especially, the shrimp and spinach dip was must try! We also tried some pizzas and pastas, and we all soooo satisfied! Good place to try if u r in town!!!

A bright spot in an otherwise dull town. Great food and service. Definitely a go-to for good Italian food.

Food isn't consistent and it's way overpriced for the quality. There is finally a better option in town.

We weren't sure what this restaurant would be like, since we drove through a dark and narrow road to get there. Much to our surprise, this was a full sit-down experience, and we had to wait 30-40 minutes to be seated. We decided to share the TRIPLE THREAT COMBO! (49.99) which comes with cheesy garlic bread (their signature!), one large salad, and one large specialty pizza. This was a lot of food, and we had enough leftovers to feed another mouth and half. THE FAT AND SASSY Their menu claims that this is the "best garlic cheese bread ever". And indeed it was because I wolfed down seven pieces of that bread within 15 minutes. I love that this was practically a pizza -- round pizza dough topped generously with cheddar and whole cloves of roasted garlic. The cheesy grease and pungent aromatic flavors exploded in my mouth. After seven pieces, I knew I had to stop because there was other food to come. CAESAR SALAD This was a typical Caesar salad with above average Caesar dressing, but there was just way too much of it mixed in. Besides that, pretty solid! I would ask for the dressing on the side in the future. THE HEAVY HAND This is Dr Ho's version of the Meat Lovers pizza, which was topped generously with sopressata, capicola, Italian sausage, and other ingredients like shaved onions, mushroom, and variety of cheeses. We got this one because we wanted more protein, but unfortunately, with the amount of cured meat that was slathered on, it was overbearingly salty. After my first slice of pizza, I started taking meat off my slice because it was too much. Overall, 3.5/5, but bumping to a 4/5 because we were pretty sure we would have had a better experience if we chose a different pizza. Still, I'm happy we got to try a restaurant in the Charlottesville area that is popular and well-loved by locals. Also, fantastic pricing with honestly the best cheesy garlic bread I've ever had. I would recommend getting here ASAP especially during the weekends because they don't take reservations or call ahead orders for dine in.

Even though I was told they were busy, the delivery time was totally reasonable and I have no complaints. I ordered the chicken parm with pasta and a house salad. Food was well prepared, tasty, and portions were quite generous all around. Pasta was well cooked, sauce was good and well seasoned, and the chicken cutlets well prepared. I think my only real quibble would be the amount of cheese blanketing the chicken, but I might also be that rare bird that doesn't like a lot of cheese? Salad was good, but I think it would be improved by using mixed greens instead of iceberg and fresh olives instead of canned. That said, my meal was a welcome treat after a long day of driving and I will happily order from NBP again soon. I look forward to picking my way around their menu in the future and will definitely be trying some pies!

When you're made to fill like you're burdening the staff before you even order, it's not a great start. I asked another local business was Chirios was and he responded, "depends on who's making your food" lol. I've worked in similar looking pizzerias, so the condition of the "kitchen" didn't concern me much. It actually kinda feels like you're in the back of house, rather than in a dining room. The local free library was interesting. I ordered a cold Italian. I wasn't expecting much when I first saw the bread, but the sandwich turned out to be decently tasty. My biggest complaint is the amount of oil added to the sub. The menu doesn't mention vinegar and oil, which made me worry the sandwich might be dry. I usually opt for vinegar but skip the oil. The Italian included both, but way to much oil. You can see in the pic, the amount of oil pooled in the to-go box. And that's after what soaked into the bread! I think I would have enjoyed the sub way more if I had asked for no oil. All that being said, I would def go back when I'm in the area.

Thankfully, got the drink and were called in early about 15 minutes into the wait. That little surprise made things start off on a good note. Once inside, we sat at the bar since there weren't tables available and we were HUNGRY and cold! Even with the weather and a busy crowd, everything felt smooth and relaxed. AMBIANCE The place was small and cozy with a warm vibe that instantly made us forget the rain outside! The cool shallot-shaped lamps over the bar gave off soft light, making the whole space feel super calm and inviting. Sitting at the bar felt right choice for us for our first time -- close enough to the energy of the restaurant and people watching and seeing the pizzas get made but still comfortable! There's a soft buzz but cozy enough to chat and just feel at home. FOOD We ordered the Abruzzo pizza with beef and pork meatballs, fiore di latte, San Marzano tomato, basil, and pecorino. It was hearty and rich but still balanced. We also wanted to try the Prosciutto pizza, which was not the favorite but still good. The San Marzano tomato sauce for the Abruzzo was the star of the show. We were sad we didn't order another pizza with the tomato sauce to switch it up but oh well, another time right?! Loved the floppiness, the tomato sauce flavor, and the crust! Have to love the scissor-plate idea -- very clever and so easy. And size of these personal small-sized pizzas perfect for 2 people so we could have room for dessert and not have leftovers! We finished with the Zeppole "donuts" which were fried ricotta donuts tossed in cinnamon sugar with a hint of lemon (which I LOVED the lemon here and cinnamon sugar worked perfectly!). They were light, warm, crispy and just what you want at the end of a meal. The food was delicious, though definitely on the pricier side ($16-$18 each for the small pizzas, $9 for dessert. Still, everything felt thoughtful and worth it for the quality!
