He is very knowledgeable about the history of Texas and brings a lot of authenticity and passion to the way he tells his story. We started in the main Plaza where she gave a small history of that area. We then headed over to the Alamo and she gave a good explanation of everything there. This is the absolute best way to get acclimated to San Antonio as a tourist! We arrived in town, and thanks to advanced algorithms we were offered about a dozen paid tours (walking, hop-on/hop-off, riverboat, etc.). Since I always want to get my steps in, a basic online search revealed this more innovative and affordable approach - A free tour, where the compensation is handled by tipping based upon the satisfaction with the experience. The tour was easy to book online, with just a day's advance notice. Well, Jane was an absolute superstar! She met us in the center of town (Main Plaza) and provided the history of the city, it's residents and its cultural changes over time, the development of the riverwalk and so much more. She gave great recommendations for other places to visit, and even good restaurants along the river. The result was an informative and educational experience in a small-group. Amigo does also offer other paid tours, but for our purposes this was a great way to start. Well done, Amigo! read more

My husband and did the historic Tower Life Building tour. It was not free but it was worth every penny we paid. The tour was fun and informative and our tour guide, Brent, kept everyone involved by dividing us into groups, since there were a lot of people trying to see this beautiful building before it changes forever. There is so much history here and Brent has a way of telling it that just makes it really easy to follow and lots of fun. It was definitely a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. We did one of their Signature Tours (not the free walking tour). We paid about $40 per person to tour the Tower Life building, and I must say that it was totally worth it. (the $40 per person fee was required for this tour - I think the free walking tours ask for a voluntary donation of whatever you think it is worth) Our tour guide was Brent (a different Brent, not ME), and he was THE BEST tour guide I have ever had. He is very energetic, informative, entertaining, accommodating, and funny (I know it sounds like me, but it really isn't). The communication prior to the tour was perfect. We found the meeting place with no problems, and the tour guide was right on time. The tour lasted just about 2 hours, which was a perfect length. I had no regrets at all and I highly recommend this tour company - it was very fun! P.S. Sebastian was our tour guide on Jan. 26, 2024. He met us promptly at 4:30 in the designated meeting spot and began the tour promptly. He was extremely knowledgeable on the history of San Antonio and the geography. He was so polite and constantly asked if we had any questions. He was very attentive to the group and did a lot of it while walking backwards so we could hear everything he had to say. He was very witty during the tour. He allowed time for a bathroom break but kept to his schedule. We will certainly refer friends and family to Amigo tours during their getaway to San Antonio. Best walking tour that I have taken was of the Tower Life Building in downtown San Antonio TX because the guide Brent did a lot of prep work learning historical facts & trivia before heading out on the 1st tour & now that iconic office building is soon being vacated so that 'apartments for rent' can be designed in the space; & residents will be living in what was once considered a "skyscraper of the south" like those in much bigger cities like NYC & Chicago I'm hoping before those new residential apartments are closed to the public we are allowed to have a tour of the remodeled spaces that we saw on this recent tour read more

Great history lesson! Before I took this tour, I did the River Walk boat tour, I took a educators class at the Alamo and took my time after the tour to watch the video and read all the info, I went to Mission San Jose and took the tour there and I also took the Pearl Brewery tour. Then I came to this tour....I had my tour with Brent. Wow talk about having an intimate look at San Antonio. He was full of knowledge. He talked about some of San Antonio's not so well known heroes, but made a but impact in the city. Brent was a great tour guide. Be sure to reserve your spot for the tour and wear walking to running shoes. On the day I went, it rained in the morning. The rain must of scared some people off. By the time the tour started it was dry. For my group there was just a handful of us. The weather in SA is weird. But don't let stop you. Just bring an umbrella and light jacket for the colder months. read more
