I call this one, "The Chair Repair." TO START... I used the Yelp feature that allows for you to send your request for a quote in mass to multiple service providers at once. That is how my request landed with Amir. As an avid Yelper, I will so rarely try a place that shows zero reviews. Interestingly, this one showed 12 reviews, but they were "not recommended" by Yelp for some reason. All this to say, I was a little skeptical about using Amir for what I needed. THE PROJECT... To further instill doubt, I needed help with reparations to an antique couch that has been passed down within my family and I hadn't seen such projects in any of the photos on this page. However, I really wanted this handled immediately and some of the other quotes I was getting were for later in the week, whereas Amir was saying he could get someone out this same day. His price range was also around the same I was getting quoted elsewhere. While trying to self-install taller couch legs, the back wood supports that we screwed the legs into, splintered and the legs broke right off. It seems the wood supports for the back legs were much thinner and less supportive than the wood supports for the front legs - as those hadn't given us much issue when installing the new legs. I needed someone who could repair the back splintered wood and help me re-install the new legs properly. THE SERVICE... On our Yelp message exchange, he made it sound like he was sending a technician that was not him, then he said HE was on the way, then he again referred to the technician as someone else. I found that a little confusing but I am pretty sure the technician was just himself. He was a very kind man and I enjoyed the brief bit of conversation we exchanged while he worked on the repair. He offered to wear coverings over his shoes and came in a mask. THE QUALITY... I thought that he would have to run to Home Depot and buy new slabs of wood to replace the piece of my furniture that had splintered. Instead, he simply moved where the legs would be positioned - rather than on the splintered wood, just further back on a sturdy piece of wood fixed onto the couch. He did ask me if I would prefer that he replace the wood and that he could, but I told him I deferred to him and his expertise as to which solution is better. He did have to use my stapler, which is okay, but I was surprised he didn't have one with him - so glad I had JUST bought one for upholstery just the day prior. He actually had me attempt the first staple while he held the fabric down before I said, "Maybe *you* should do this?" MY VERDICT... Overall, the project was completed and it seems like the legs are sturdy. Time will tell! I'm not sure the repair approach he took was the most quality solution, but it was the quickest. Ultimately, if the legs stay sturdy, then I'm okay with it not having been the most detailed fix to the couch. COST... Given that he did this simple workaround, I thought maybe he would've charged me less than originally quoted (especially since he had to use my own stapler). But, it was the same price he quoted me: $250. And he lightheartedly reminded me I could also tip.

Good experience hiring Amir for a last minute job. He was quick to respond via Yelp messaging, gave me a quote that seemed fair, and was able to meet later the same day. It was a bit of an unusual job request - part of my wall hedges/vines which were leaning over early in the week were now starting to collapse and rip the rest of the hedges off the wall. Amir worked through a few different creative methods of securing it and got it to work. Communication was tough at times, but in no way did it detract from the job. Amir was also very friendly and kind, and I'd be happy to recommend him and use him in the future.

Unfortunately cannot recommend Amir at this time. Took 3 hours to install a bathroom faucet and it is already leaking. He charged me for time when not doing any work. Also, I recommend having him view the project in person first so he doesn't send you on countless trips to Home Depot as he can't clearly explain what materials he needs, only tells you to ask Home Depot associates for assistance. He was hired to do 3 separate things for me but after taking 3 hours to swap a bathroom faucet I had to call it off. When booking the appt I asked him if he had a pick up truck to help me with bringing home my new barn door. He said no problem and I had him meet me at Home Depot where the door was waiting for pick up. Upon arriving I realized he must have misunderstood my question as he arrived in a sedan. Wasn't a major issue as I was able to rent a truck from Uhaul. What I didn't realize was Amir, despite him not bringing the door in his vehicle, was attempting to charge me as I was setting up the rental with Home Depot. I live 5 mins from that Home Depot and I had him leave before me, yet with a truck I got home before him. I can only imagine he was getting gas or food, which I shouldn't be paying for him to do on my dime. He arrived 10mins after me despite leaving before me. When arriving at the house he started on the sink. There was an extra connection piece that he needed but he wasn't able to tell me which piece it was. Only told me to ask someone at Home Depot for assistance. So I went back to Home Depot and got the piece and returned. After returning, he tells me I need an additional piece of wood to mount the barn door. And also tells me I have the wrong part for the sink, but isn't able to tell me which part I need. So I then return to Home Depot for the 3rd time that evening to get what he needed. When I return he tells me the first part I brought back from Home Depot was correct and that it was done. Upon viewing the work, I saw he caulked the faucet crooked but since it was dry nothing I can do about it without ripping it out. Also the sink is already leaking after he repeatedly told me that it's not wet under there. Attempting to have him come back out to fix his work. Hopefully he can make things right. read more

Absolute garbage handyman. Cabinet door fell off and I needed to get it fixed. He came over and inspected the problem, said he could fix it easily. Nope, he made the problem worse - he drilled a bunch of unnecessary holes, then said he needed to get a piece and would contact me. He never did. He asked for partial payment and I never heard from him again. I had to call another handyman to fix his mistakes, so I paid for this repair twice. I wouldn't hire him for any job - this was a simple job for someone else but was difficult for him and he was not responsible and ghosted me after he said he would contact me when he got the part he needed. read more

I would not recommend Amir. He arrived 3 hours after the time he initially confirmed. This job was to mount a flat screen and run an HDMI cable through the ceiling. He only mounted the tv and did not the HDMI because he didn't being the cord. He also attempted to charge more because he took longer.... read more

Amir did a great job installing a Window AC he arrived on time and he even purchased some extra pieces of wood and tape from Home Depot he anticipated we would need beforehand. I didn't know we were going to need them and had he not bought them before hand we wouldn't of been able to do complete the installation. He charges by the hour and has competitive rates and it took him about 1.5 hours to install the AC. Since I had another 30 minutes I asked him to drill a tv mount onto the bedroom wall and help me mount the tv. Without hesitation he was happy to help and even asked if there was anything else he could help me do. All in all Amir did a great job and I would recommend him. Thanks Amir! read more

I needed to install a dishwasher and microwave at my new place and I send the request of yelp. I had no knowledge how much the job cost prior. Amir originally quoted me with the best price, but when showed up he increased the price almost 4 times. Eventually, we negotiated to complete the work for double price. But it appeared Amir did not really have experience installing the overage microvalve and dishwasher was leaking after so I had to call another technician to fix it. But overall Amir is a great a very polite man and we liked interacting with him. If you need to assemble some furniture or some more simple fix, I believe Amir is a 5 star handyman. I would recommend Amir not taking the work is above his capacity and look closer on the task customer post. read more

IT IS POSSIBLE that it could have been pure coincidence. I did not file a claim or state I wanted money for the fridge. Financials: Zilvanis requested an interim payment of $150 for labor already performed. I paid this amount, even though the contract designated the final $300 to be paid only after a successful final walkthrough. Project Termination: When I shared the technician's findings regarding the refrigerator, the contractor denied responsibility and immediately cancelled all remaining work. Incomplete Scope: Due to the abrupt cancellation, the installation of door weather stripping was never completed. The contractor remains in possession of the delivered part.

I needed a license plumber due to home insurance requirement to do this installation or I would've done it myself. They were responsive when I talked to them through Yelp projects. I was shocked with how much I was quoted because it was almost double the price of the automatic shut off valve device I paid for. So I had to confirm that the price that was given to me was just to switch out the bad unit with the new one. They didn't have to do anything else like run new pipes or replace anything else. When I communicated to them that the quote was high, they asked how much did i wanted to pay. I thought they would try to be more reasonable since the name is The Affordable. I give them a range based on the prices from other plumbing company that I reached out to and they couldn't do it which I understand they can set their own prices. Maybe for big projects, they'll give more of a reasonable price which is why they have great reviews on Yelp but just to replace a bad automatic shut off valve with a brand new one, I think it was overprice so I used another plumbing company where they were very reasonable on the price.

Before Mike, I had met with 3 other contractors to compare services and quotes but what sealed the deal for me was the 3D render service Mike offered. It was affordable and it would be free if you end up going with MDM for your remodel. Mike was able to get the renderings to me very quickly and made adjustments whenever we wanted to change something. Seeing the details of the renderings really brought what we were envisioning to life and helped with the design process. Fast forward to beginning of demo/construction, Mike's employees were impressively fast and efficient at their jobs, but what really impressed me was how clean they kept our property after each day of work. And that stated true throughout the entire process of our 7 month renovation. During construction, if there were any last minute changes, Mike would always try to cater to our needs whenever possible. Even if subcontractors made mistakes with anything, Mike would make sure it is fixed and perfect right away. Keep in mind, you can't rely on Mike for everything (as much as you might want to). You really do have to do your research (in terms of design, finishing materials, sourcing those materials, and getting them delivered on time) and know exactly what you want and how you want it, that way, Mike can plan and put into action what needs to be done. After this entire process, we are extremely happy we got this project completed with MDM. What really sets them apart is the quality of work, dependability, and the great people that work for MDM.
