Set my expectations low when finding highly recommended spots. Pork chop was the star today. Juicy and cooked to perfection. Fresh vegetable sides come in second. Third place is the coleslaw. Seasoned well and bites of sugar and vinager. The smothered chicken becomes tiresome by the second chicken breast. It's covered in their spinach and artichoke dip. Good, just needs a lite side to balance between bites. Red beans and rice is authentic. Just nothing I'd order again. Will be back. Amis Mill Eatery is a must visit if you're traveling to or through Rogersville Tennessee. The view from the outdoor seating is absolutely breathtaking, sitting next to a dam with the sound and view of the water raining down, precisely placed plants, just amazing. The indoor seating is gorgeous with a cabin environment and is in direct view of the kitchen where you can see the cooks while they're preparing your meal. The wait staff is friendly and very attentive. When we arrived, the deck was at half capacity and there wasn't anyone that chose to sit indoors with it being an unusually warm day in March. When we left, the deck was at full capacity, the indoor seating was bustling but the wait staff never missed a beat. It took less than 15 minutes to get our food after ordering but you're greeted with rolls and some amazing garlic butter when you're seated. The food, the best food I've ever had in a restaurant!! The sautéed green beans seasoned perfectly, the grilled chicken sandwich was just right with a decent sized piece of juicy chicken! The ribs fell off the bone, the fried okra and broccoli, yum!! However, we were disappointed with the food. My ribs were bland and my wife's French Onion soup was not good, to the point that she sent it back. Out for a drive and ran across the Amis Mill eatery while looking for waterfalls. we found this place and the waterfall (actually it was the spillover from and old dam). The Eatery looked very rustic and quaint with some folks eating out on their screened in porch that overlooked the dam and "waterfall". We were greeted upon entering by a smiling staff and were seated out on the porch per our request. There were some good selections to chose from. My wife ordered the pulled pork sandwich and I ordered the pulled pork dinner. Our waitress was very nice and our food was very good too. Went to lunch at this Amis Mill Eatery and this was the experience: The had six table open and sat us in the middle of two occupied table with a very obnoxious man talking about horses and I could tell you all the details, I should have asked to be moved. The lower level had umbrellas that blocked the view and there were no customers at that level, should of asked them to move us or close the umbrellas. There were five employees working, why do I know two of them sat at the entrance doing nothing. The rib eye was terrible, it was thin, over cooked, maybe it was a New York, the mac and cheese was alfredo sauce with noodles and for $42, I should of not paid but didn't make a fuss in front of my mom, sister and son, I have been to this restaurant, and the prime rib was excellent last year. Sad to have to take the time to write this but I would not recommend this restaurant until they make some changes. read more

What a treasure this place is. We were in the area doing some business around dinner time and discovered this place. Not only is it historical, it has the most beautiful scenery and wonderful food. The employees go above a beyond. The owner took the time to greet us and gave us some historical insight about the mill which has been in his wife's family for generations. Problem started when seated we were only people on patio people started coming in getting waited on sit there another 20 min still no drinks order or food order everyone around was waited on but us. On a day trip with my husband and google pointed us to Amis Mill Eatery. It's a beautiful setting right next to a waterfall. We choose to sit outside on the lower deck to listen to the water. We started with fried pickles. He chose Shrimp special with rice. I decided on Chicken Parmesan. We ended with key lime pie and tiramisu cake. Wow, wow, and wow..... couldn't have asked for better! What a joy to learn that Amis Mill will be open year round. Day after Christmas we were out driving around taking photos, showing the area to visiting family. Imagine how surprised we were to find the eatery open! What did we eat? Spent 60$ on two meals and a kids meal there was no flavor to the steaks at all, completely black and burnt, mine was supposed to be steak bites and it was pretty much just a burnt meatloaf, also no flavor. Called their Mac and cheese, "queso Mac" but was literally just plain noodles. I'm very upset to waste my money here once again in hopes things would be different this time around. Everything was burnt and flavorless and even if it did have some kind of seasoning, it was too burnt to even taste. A very unique restaurant that you'll never just happen to be driving by, This place is out there a ways, and not really on the 'way' anywhere, but it's worth the trip! It is built overlooking the old mill pond and dam, and all the tables on the two tier outer deck overlooked the pond and spillway, which made for a very pleasant dining experience. They've got plenty of fans out there to keep you cool. We started out with the fried green tomatoes- and they were some of the best, if not THE best, I've ever had- and I've had a lot of them. They were perfectly breaded and served with a house made remoulade that was just right- not too spicy. They have fresh rolls, and jalapeño corn muffins, both of which were good. I only managed to grab a taste of the rolls because my 7 year old daughter snatched them up quick! Our main course was good as well. My wife had the barbecue platter, which consisted of three meats a side and a salad. We had high hopes for the barbecue, but honestly it was a bit disappointing. She got pulled pork, beef brisket, and smoked salmon. None were bad, but all three lacked any kind of smoked flavor. Just not too exciting. I had the southern seafood plate- and it was excellent. It had shrimp, catfish, crawfish tails, and a bayou cake. It was all very good, but the catfish and the shrimp really stood out. Next time I'll probably just get the catfish and chips. My sides were the queso Mac and fried okra. Both excellent. The salads were very fresh and had local produce in them. I'd love to comment on the dessert, but we were stuffed! read more

Firstly, I cannot believe there is a single bad review for this place, I would urge folks who haven't had excellent experiences here to give it another try. I loved everything about this place & it's people. The restaurant itself is oozing in charm and situated in such a beautiful spot in the woods. It's kind of like what you would imagine a non-chain version of Cracker Barrel to be, but with more innovative food! We were greeted with such hospitality from the moment we arrived until we left. I wasn't really expecting a lot food-wise honestly, sometimes your backwoods establishments have good southern cuisine but it tends to be on the bland side. We both had a side of brussel sprouts, and they were excellent--pan fried and carmelized. They served bread before the meal that was excellent with snippits of chives in it. I had such high expectation for this place, as I've heard many people speak about it over the years. Unfortunately, my experience was a bit disappointing. The restaurant sits atop a pretty steep hill and the parking / walking area is somewhat muddy. And speaking of parking, that's quite limited, so you are likely to have to park in the "event parking" section and walk a bit. Outside the "cabin" is quaint, but once inside it's modern and undramatic with a drop ceiling. You'll notice it is much smaller inside that you would expect. This turned out to be the Achilles heel of the place. It was a relatively cold day (say 45 degrees), and each time the door was opened, whatever heat the little place had rushed right out. They have a fireplace in the corner that an employee has to continually attend to, that would absolutely bake you for about 2 minutes and then die off. And of course having a fireplace in a few hundred square feet also makes your nose burn...and your clothes will also smell like the place until washed. Unfortunately I attended on a weekend right after the "rush" of the day, so it was an endless sea of people leaving...slowly. As mentioned before, it was quite cool outside and parties of people who apparently didn't care about the chilly patrons still waiting for food waddled out slowly, holding the door wide open for long durations, talking back and forth, distracted...going back in multiple times for various reasons, etc. And the food? Well, that was pretty good, although you can surely find a better value for the same type of food at a ma and pa type place. Most entrees are around $10-12. Expect to spend about $20 with a beverage. Speaking of beverages, one person in our party ordered a basic beer in a bottle...was charged around $5 for that! If they get you the same way, don't say you weren't warned. So is there redemption for this place? I will try it again during a warm spring day, and take the tour while there. It's likely to gain a star once the "cold" factor is eliminated. read more

Amis Mill Eatery is the cutest restaurant! It's a bit off the beaten path which just adds to the charm. We walked in and were immediately greeted enthusiastically by the staff. Our server made wonderful recommendations from their extensive menu. Everything looked so good, we had to try it all! We got 3 appetizers: fried pickles, fried mozzarella and the queso and chips. The queso was by far my favorite. And the homemade chips were thinly sliced and amazingly seasoned potatoes. I ordered the salmon and it had a delicious sauce on it, with the queso Mac for my side. Again, yum! Don't sleep on the queso! My son got ribs and they were legit fall off the bone. I mean the bones looked as if they'd been licked clean just by using a fork to pull the meat off. He said they were the best ribs he's ever had. My husband got a HUGE steak and he loved it. My daughter got a kid's chicken strip meal, and got 2 meals out of it (she's 5). We finished off our experience with a slice of peanut butter pie, and there were all but fights to get to the last bites! Our service was excellent throughout our meal, and the price was reasonable, and by reasonable I mean they should charge more! We will for sure be back! When I find a meal I like, I tend to order it every time I eat at that restaurant. I don't intend to do that at Amis Mill because there are so many delicious sounding items on the menu.
