I had the opportunity to try Amkha Misky Peruvian Food Truck when they stopped by my work to cater for an event. We had the Queen's Avocado Entree with rice, mild or spicy salsa, and either beef, chicken or spinach empanada. I really liked the Queen's Avocado and their rice and spicy salsa! The chicken on top of the avocado was moist and balanced out the dish. Our company opted for more of a healthier option to help cater our vegetarians, vegans and gluten-free employees. The owner was very nice to work with and helped us customize the dishes if we needed to. What fell a little short were their empanadas. There wasn't enough filling in the empanada. I would say the ratio was 80% dough, 20% filling. We have an employee who is Peruvian and she was disappointed in the dish. However, other employees said it was a good healthy option! Overall, if you like a healthy alternative, definitely try their Queen's Avocado!

Yummmmm!! We got the combo #4 and it didn't disappoint. They can substitute a different kinda rice to make it taste better but in general, loved the truck. Empanadas were pretty on point too.

The stuffed avocado and beef empanada! Amazing!

I'm not a real follower of the food truck scene but this place is great, give the stuffed potato a try.

Prepare yourself for a trip south of the border to the Mexican state of Michoacán located just under 100 miles west of Mexico City. There you will be in the one of several disputed origins of the melt-in-your mouth "pulled pork" of Mexico known as carnitas. By a stroke of serendipity, I found myself on State Street in Orem when I caught the word carnitas emblazoned on the side of an otherwise unremarkable little eatery. I made it a point to check it out after watching a ballet performance at the SCERA theater. As you can already surmise, I was not disappointed. Walking inside I was met by a friendly taquero and tables filled with native Spanish speakers. All signs said thus was going to be good. I chose a combo plate with two massive, stuffed carnitas tacos and a carne asada street-sized taco. Although it was quite tasty, the asada was just an afterthought for me. After pouring on some spicy salsa roja and a guacamole sauce with a topping of onions and cilantro I tucked into the best or at least top-3 carnitas tacos I've ever had. This is from someone who searches out this porcine delicacy wherever I travel. (See my other review of a surprising contender in the Lava Hot Springs KOA-Taqueria Pelayo-I'm not kidding.) The rest of the best are in California. You can get your carnitas "mixtos" or "solo carne." If you're not into skin, fat and offal, stick with the straight carne, The taquero knows that the best carnitas is given a crispy finish and coarsely chopped. After spying the home style refritos and arroz on a neighboring table, I went back for sides. Who needs a diet anyway? All told, I couldn't have been happier. Great food, friendly service with good English but willing to allow a gringo the opportunity to practice Spanish - I only wish it was closer to my home in South Jordan. LMK if you can recommend a similar spot in SLC or surrounds.

This place has the best tacos, ever! I kid you not…read more If you're a "gringo," go with straight carnitas to play it safe. I recommend the Gringos Amazing. The owner is really nice too.
