I absolutely love the El Salvador restaurant and it's my favorite place to get pupusa's. We recently went with my family and we knew it would be busy as it was a Friday night but it just is a difficult place to go when it's busy as it's small. There's not much waiting room and when we finally got sat down, we ordered as fast as we could, but it still took the food so long to get out it made us late to our concert we were going to. I understand it takes time and we knew that. It just seemed like everyone else was getting their food faster than us. But despite that, we absolutely love the pupusas here. They taste so good! The bean and cheese ones are my favorite. We will keep coming back, but hope that they can find a way to make the food faster. read more

I opened the menu and went straight for the lengua guisada (cow tongue stew); if lengua ain't your thing then don't get it ok. But as a lengua-lover myself, I thought the stew was DELICIOUS along with the beans and rice. It was just a great combo and I'd definitely come back for it again. I've gone to a handful of Pupusarias in Utah and this place has the best Pupusas. My husband went on his mission to Guatemala and was close to the border of El Salvador (where Pupusas originate) and that's where he had his first experience with Pupusas. I'm as "bland" as can be and can't handle spice so when he first talked about Pupusas I was worried that it would be spicy; but they are not at all! They have some sauce that you can put on them to make them spicy, but they don't come spicy. We always get the Pupusas de Revueltas which is a corn tortilla stuffed with cheese and pork. You only need to order 2 of them per person. First off, I am not a fan of corn tortillas, but I would not classify these as corn tortillas, they are thicker and not dry like most corn tortillas I've had. The Pupusas come out with a little crispiness around some parts of it due to the cheese seeping out and getting cooked on the grill; it's delicious! They bring out a bowl of cabbage with some type of dressing on it to put on top of your Pupusas and that has a little kick to it, so I normally just eat mine plain. They also bring out 2 sauces; one is a tomato type of sauce and the other is spicy. Overall: If you like meat and cheese, try them out! read more

I've only been here for the Papusas. They're booommbb. I got 3 with the pork inside and that was plenty for me. Not expensive at all and a really fresh taste. If you have never had a pupusa, you are missing some deliciousness in your life. A pupusa is a cornmeal "pocket" that is deep-fried with a savory filling that can include cheese, beans, chicken, pork, or beef or a combination of same. Pupusas are relatively thin, so get at least a couple. They are served with a thin--not hot-spicey red sauce--and appropriately, slightly sour cabbage slaw. I love them. The pupusas at this restaurant are authentic, at least in my limited experience. They are wonderful here. This establishment is frequented by Central Americans and the wait staff speaks limited English, but somehow we happily made it through. The waitress smiled throughout my stumbling attempt at Spanish. We tipped her well. No visit to a Central American restaurant is complete without Plantains. Plaintains are sort of like the Central Americans' potato (that resembles an elongated and thin banana. You've probably passed over them at an American grocery store) in that they are a starch with a hint of banana flavor. They are a lot of work to properly prepare. The plantains at this restaurant are delicious and served with dipping sauces of crema (similar to sour cream) and thin, but delicious, refried beans. The atmosphere at this establishment may be off-putting to some (they may be operating on a shoestring), but it reminded me of establishments in real Central America, and therefore, I loved it. If you're a snob, may I suggest you dine somewhere else, such as a fast food establishment, and while you're there, be sure to go through the drive-through lane and while doing so, relish your lack of adventure. read more

We really liked the home-made taste to the pupusas, a lightly stuffed corn masa dough ball that is flattened and cooked till pan crisped, after which you can top with a fresh, tangy and light cabbage and carrot "slaw". The spicy jalapeño sauce is quite spicy on its own, but with the pupusas and cabbage the spice level tasted perfect. And all is delivered up for a extremely fair price. The pork chicharrones (fried pork) and pork/cheese varieties were our favorite with good pork-y flavor. The loroco (a kind of green veggie) and cheese had a delicious flavor, though a subtle one that got masked a bit by the toppings, partly because they aren't generous with the amount of loroco inside. Also, sadly, no varieties offered with delicious sweet Salvadorean chorizo sausages. The black bean frijoles here are flavorful, too, with a nice not-too-smooth texture. The fried plantains were decent, though they tasted like fried ripe plantains rather than fried green plantains, so I thought they were just a touch too sweet served with the delicious, sweet Salvadorean crema, though still quite good. We would definitely like to visit again when we happen to be in Provo. Knowing some Spanish helped the experience go more smoothly, but they seem to fare okay with English, too. Almost every time I have eaten a pupusa it has been homemade by someone from El Salvador. With that in mind, I was not let down by the pupusas at this restaurant! I was a little turned away at first when I walked in, the table that was empty was still dirty, but before I had time to talk to an employee, a staff ran up to start cleaning. It is a small restaurant that is busy in the evenings, but they still do a great job of being professional, but authentic to Latin culture. Very fair prices and I left happy! read more

Apparently they also serve breakfast which was surprising. The food part of the menu is just two pages (drinks on page 3) and breakfast took up almost a quarter of it. My friend ordered the steak fajitas, which appeared to be the best thing on the menu. I opted for something different, since I can get steak fajitas at any ol' Mexican restaurant. As half Salvadorian myself and being raised with this food on a daily basis, I'm impressed with the flavor and quality of the food offered here. I can make my own food as in the restaurant, but to come by the ingredients is a challenge here in Utah. So, this is a place I've come to often. The look of this place from the start is from outside, which looks unimpressive in the area it's located and quite small. As you enter, it's narrow structure accommodates lots of table and chairs that lead tot he front and kitchen. You sit yourself down and wait for a bilingual server to come by. The decor is authentic and reminds me of this beautiful tropical paradise way south of the border. After you place your order, the food will arrive fresh hot off the stove. The food is excellent and so is the service. My only thing is the wait time. You gotta make sure you go with plenty of time for them to take the food out to you and enjoy. After all, the type of food offered can't be made with shortcuts if it's to be authentic. Otherwise, yes, it's worth the wait and the pupusas are bigger than what they're real size is like in El Salvador. They have good options for food and more and are usually always full. Super duper cheap food, 5 people ordered a ton of food and still had to doggie bag it, and all cost $25. I had the tamale, and I wasn't a fan of the texture of the masa. The pork tasted a lot better. They messed up my order and gave me two chicken instead of one pork and one chicken. The papusas were interesting. My first time having it and it's like a quesadilla. I think quesadilla are lighter and less greasy, so I like those more. But I ordered locoro which is a type of plant and that was pretty good with the cheese. The empanada look alike was good. I had the beef one and that was crispy. The sauce and the side salad were great because it help cut down the greasy and fat. The drinks were ok, not the best, they did give us samples, so that was nice of them. It is located in beautiful downtown Provo. It is a small unassuming place and is obviously a family business. This is a plus for me, I like to see local businesses do well. I have never once eaten a pipusa so disappointing in my life. There was 0% filling in the pupusas. I ordered revueltas and pupusas revueltas are supposed to have cheese, meat, and beans that should be VISIBLE and you can TASTE. Absolutely no filling. I dont know if theyre cutting costs because of covid-19, or what. The tomato based sauce that you eat with the pupusas was LITERAL WATER. It had the consistency of soup. I am attaching videos and photos for proof. The curtido - no flavor whatsoever. Real curtido has a vinegar-y taste, their curtido tastes like water. No flavor, whatsoever. I can't comment on their other food because I didnt try it but oh my god, as a Salvadorean I have never tried a Salvadorean place as worst as this. Legit. We had the bean and cheese pupusas and the cheese pupusas. We also had a side of rice and beans. Food was on par. We've had a pupusas in Los Angeles & El Salvador. Im Salvi...And these were good! I'm just bummed it so far and we have to drive all the way from Lehi to Provo to get these. Customer service was really great. Food came pretty fast. I would definitely recommend pupusas over everything. I'm even already thinking to come back and just get a large order of pupusas to go.
