This restaurant lives up to its name that's for sure. Visiting Brooklyn for the weekend (from D.C.) This is what i thought of everything we got starting with the: Tartare: it was flavorful (not too fishy) light but filling, and just seasoned right. Bread was perfectly crispy and was good match for tartare. Only negative wish they gave more bread, since we finished our bread and still had a some tartare left. (4 out of 5) Agnolotti: This was absolutely delicious... so many flavor layers made the dish complex, which is a must for great pasta. Good portion, very rich which actually made the Agnolotti surprisingly super filling. (5 out of 5) Chicken Parm: The chicken was spot on! Perfectly breaded and cooked to the point the chicken was crispy (unlike a lot of disappointing chicken parm i've had). The accompanying sauce and pasta were also spot on and traditional with a nice creamy twist to the sauce. Only compliant (nitpicking here) was the plate the chicken parm was served on was a little small which made the chicken parm tricky/messy to eat. (4.8 out of 5 - only losing points for small plates) Spill the Tea: I thought the cocktail was decent. Not bad, but not anything to write home about. i think i would've enjoyed it a lot more if it didn't have a medicine-like after taste. Made a last minute reservation here on a Saturday night for two people. Beautiful back yard that wasn't overly packed or loud. Started off by sharing the Burrata ($19) - the creamy cheese worked well on the thick bread wedges, paired against a flavorful eggplant puree. For the main course, settled on the Gramigna ($23) - a thick pasta smothered in a sausage ragu as well as a broccoli pesto. Great combination of sweet and savory, needing no extra cheese or salt. Really more of a 3.5. Made reservations for Ammazzacaffe, because as everyone knows, GL trying to eat at any nyc restaurant during dinner time without a resy. The restaurant is a easy walk from the subway station and it's much bigger than it looks. It extends into a small courtyard, where apparently, they occasionally have live music. As it was quite cold when we came for dinner, we did not sit in the courtyard. But I imagine during warmer times, like the summer, it would be really cute to sit at and have dinner. We got the burrata, the Garganelli and the Ondine. The burrata was pretty good! The pasta in the Garganelli tasted a bit off as though it wasn't fully cooked? It was soft to bit in and then there was a crunchy center. We liked the Ondine but I couldn't really taste the crab in it. I felt like we had higher expectations for the pasta dishes. Wow! My friends invited me here for dinner, and I'm so glad I was able to make it. The pasta was great! I'm a sucker for anything truffle, so I got the agnolotti. It was really good, but everything my friends ordered and I tried were also really good too (I don't remember exactly what they ordered). I would definitely return, it had such a lovely ambiance. The only thing I didn't love about it was that the indoor seating was pretty small and cramped, and we were three people squished in the corner. It's definitely a great date spot though! The Sunchoke Salad was the best use of sunchokes I've experienced in a dish. Fresh, creative, delicious. The Agnolotti were like puffed up hotel pillows. The black truffle and walnut sauce paired well. We agreed that this dish could have stopped there. Or, the heavy hand of balsamic - Saba or not - could have been scaled back. The Spaghetti with Bottarga was solid. The Agnolotti would still be the re-order. All of the pastas were texturally perfect. Towards the end of our NYC trip, my husband and I first ordered takeout from Ammazzacaffe and once we realized how delicious the takeout was we promptly booked a dine-in reservation on our last night. I went on a Sunday at 5:30 and I had reservations but the front was empty and they had jazz there starting at 6/630. It was great. It wasn't too crowded me and my friend had this Sunday special which was delicious and was split between the two of us and we were pretty full. we also got the Yuzu cheesecake which was also pretty good but I would've preferred an Italian cheesecake. I had one aperol spritz during the happy hour. I wish I got another because it's till 6 PM and it's two for one. They have a lovely backyard, didn't get to see much of it though. This place is phenomenal. Everything I ordered tasted AMAZING!!! They gave complimentary bread with olive oil and two olives. I'm generally not a big fan of olives, but the olives here tasted like absolute HEAVEN!! I tasted the olive oil alone as well and you can absolutely tell it was extremely good quality. There was a subtle sweetness to it *drool*. Wow. We asked the waitress if it was possible for another two olives and she was extremely nice to let us have some more. Apparently they also sell a bunch of olives as an off menu appetizer. So the olives already started us off on a good note. For appetizers, we got the calamari and the pancetta. Both were also very delicious. I was very intrigued by how this place used black garlic on the calamari. Went so well together!!! Next came the main. I got the reginette while my friend got the fusilli which was a special. Both were amazing as well!! The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the herbs used were definitely fresh and notable. I couldn't pin point what herb was used for the fusilli but it was slightly floral and sweet. Something I don't think I ever tasted before. Seriously delicious. Lastly, for dessert we ordered the buttermilk pannacotta. This also blew my mind. It was just SOOO GOOOOD. My friend and I were in the middle of a conversation and when we took a bite at the same time, we both stopped talking, paused, and then said holy sh*t that's good!! Slightly tart. Perfect level of sweetness. Wow. Just wow. I went on an emotional rollercoaster here. I honestly found their entree the least stunning of the items we tried today, but again still amazing. Waitress was extremely nice. The only criticism I have is that the portions of the pasta were really small so make sure to get some appetizers to compensate. Overall I definitely would love to come back.
