I was very disappointed to have booked my Valentine's Day Brunch here. My girlfriend particularly loves live jazz, and Have & Meyer promoted their "flirty February" live jazz brunch special for Valentines Day. For this reason, I booked this reservation weeks in advance. Unfortunately, we got to the restaurant. To our surprise, no one was there and there was no live jazz playing. As we got seated, I asked the waiters if there would be a jazz performance - they responded not today. For that reason, we left the restaurant since it wasn't the experience we were looking for. I'll add that the waiters were very kind and understanding. I didn't get to try any of the food - which im sure would've been good, but this sadly spoiled my valentines plans. read more

Ambiance is beautiful. Dim, warm lighting and well decorated. The bar area is very cute as well. The servers and bartender were very nice and checked up on us often. Each pasta dish is around $30-40 which is very expensive for a basic tomato and beef dish. The Pappardelle with Beef Ragu is a bit bland and just not interesting enough for the price. The TAGLIATELLE with Burrata & Porcini Mushrooms was very good though and as a mushroom lover I would reccomend that dish. Cocktails are around $20 and good, not too sweet and the liquor quality is good. Overall, great spot for the vibes, but mid food. read more

This is a cute - very Brooklyn-esque spot. We opted for outdoor seating. Their plates and glasses were all very unique and cute. The service was pretty decent. We got the sprinkled octopus which was pretty good. It was cooked and seasoned nicely. For my main I got the mafalde with lamb ragu. I did really enjoy this dish, the pasta was cooked nicely and the lamb ragu was not too gamey but had good flavor. The portions were not super generous but expected of Brooklyn restaurants. For drinks I got the Negroni sbagliato - maybe I just didn't order to my taste but didn't love this drink. It quite bitter and didn't really work for me. Decent place but the prices are quite high for the quality and quantity of food. read more

They specialize in natural wines so the waiter gave us a wine wheel tool to help us select one. I went with a larger group and we had the private room, which has a requirement of each person spending $65 but the room itself does not have a reservation fee. The food took a while to get to us, potentially because of group size, and when it did, the portions were smaller than expected. Because I had an appetizer I was full. Came for a birthday dinner and really enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff. Was definitely a bit surprised by the bill at the end as there's no proper wine list stating prices. The dish of the day was super yummy but ended up being $46 for some gnocchi. We also had a $36 cake cutting fee added to our tab without mention of the cost. It was just a homemade apple cake nothing fancy. We would have skipped on both if we knew how much they were going to charge us - def felt like they kinda got us there. Food was alright - for the prices I wouldn't say the dishes were that great. Pasta was fresh but they have used some more flavor, salt, etc. We we asked for parm the waiter must have forgotten. Can see why a natural wine lover would love this place but just wasn't the necessarily the right pick for my larger group. read more

Service was just horrible -- long waits, no follow up visits to our table after food was brought. We asked for some bread as food was taking so long. The bread took long. No apologies. The absolute CUTEST outdoor seating setup, incredible Italian eats, and an awesome wine selection. Let me start by saying that no one has a better decorated or cozier outdoor seating area. It was so warm and inviting. It would make a perfect date night spot! I came here with a girlfriend, and we decided to try some wine and split a few dishes. I immediately opted for the orange Sicilian Zibibbo which I haven't seen on many NYC wine lists. The Modus Bibendi Macerato ($18) was such a special treat. It certainly has a unique flavor - fruity, floral, and has a little zing of acidity at the end. I was so happy and surprised to see this on their menu. For our apps, we went with the Artichokes alla Cafona with capers, olives and a light tomato sauce, as well as the Grilled Octopus with whipped potatoes. After basically licking our plates clean, we moved onto the Lobster Pasta made with fresh tagliolini and cherry tomatoes, as well as the Cavatelli all'Amatriciana. Both were delicious. Dessert was a chocolate tortina with ice cream. Not overly sweet but definitely satisfied the after-dinner sugar craving. Our waitress was incredibly attentive and helpful throughout. There is also a big secluded room for parties. The staff was swift, friendly, and had great recommendations. We started with some orange wine. There was such an overwhelming wine list, something for everyone . We got the salad and burrata with prosciutto as appetizers. The salad was fresh and flavorful with green apple and beets. The burrata and prosciutto were such high quality, worth the price! The bread that comes with it is rustic and authentic. For mains we all got pasta dishes. They were all obviously fresh pasta cooked to perfect al dente. They were all delicious, would go for the carbonara if we had to pick just one. Worth the price in our opinions as this is an expensive bowl of pasta. The portion did not disappoint either. Save room for the tiramisu!!! Great ambiance at have & Meyer. It's like walking into a bistro meets a garden meets your grandmother who's a hoarder living room. All in a very good way. Lots of little klitche designs, wine and liqour bottles all over ( and they serve a purpose you pick a bottle off the wall). The service is excellent they know their wines and mixed drinks. They'll let you try so you can find what you want. It's a very cozy place w a heated and covered outside patio too. Tried a nice Italian full bodied red as well as nice minerallly white . Despite the restaurant being a cozy nice corner in Williamsburg, the whole experience did not feel delightful. The main reason was the lack of transparency in some of the prices, especially the wine list, which is a "emotional list", meaning that the guest just indicates what type of wine flavors they prefer and the waiter would serve them accordingly. In this sort of list/game there is no price upfront so the guest has to explicitly ask about the wine's cost, which feels odd, not smooth. The food was well done but not exceptional compared to the high prices. I hope they will make an effort for being more coherent as the place deserves it. read more

We didn't have a reservation but we're able to be seated at the bar. I absolutely loved the endless wine bottles around the walls and the extensive wine menu. They also offer cocktails. We had the tonnarelli with lobster which had the most amazing sauce and a lobster tail that's split. We also had the lamb chops in a blue cheese fondue sauce. The lamb shops were cooked to perfection. I also highly recommend the seasonal salad which had beets, apples, etc in it. Bartender was very helpful in selecting a wine. Spent $250 on a "dinner" for two and left very hungry and in need of an actual meal. Be forewarned: If you want an Italian restaurant with three courses and a few drinks each for a reasonable date night out, this ain't it; here, expect to pay $400, easy, for the privilege of a very average red-sauce meal for two. We ordered three drinks total (don't get me started on their wine-by-emotion menu "spinner"--not only will they rip you off, they'll infantilize you while doing it!), including a $33 glass of very average Sangiovese whose price was not advertised. After two disappointingly small plates of pasta characterized as mains (each ~$40)--and all after getting crammed into a corner on the outside/sidewalk build-out portion of the restaurant (on Valentine's Day with a reservation, no less)--we grabbed the check and scrammed. I've never felt more dirt-poor and less taken care of by a restaurant in my life; the whole thing felt like a humiliation ritual. Prices are farcically out of step with the service, quantity, and quality, all of which feels like (generously) a 50% markup for what we actually received. Absolutely *not* worth it unless you enjoy spending $300-400 on a few non-memorable plates and glasses of Italian wine. What a disappointment. read more

Have & Meyer is a small, cute, and very aesthetically pleasing restaurant. The indoor decor is honestly unparalleled to most restaurants I have been to. We had an ~8pm reservation on a Saturday. The restaurant was crowded so would definitely recommend getting a reservation beforehand to not risk a long wait time. We sat at the bar which is my personal preference at restaurants, but it was SUPER cramped. The people sitting at the table behind us kept bumping into me when they moved which was mildly annoying. They do seat 5-6 people at tables, but be warned that it may be crowded. To start off, we ordered a nice bottle of orange wine. It tasted great and since we got to sit at the bar, we were able to ask the bartender for his recommendations on orange wine. For appetizers we ordered the Artichoke and the Octopus. I personally was not a fan of the Artichoke. With the limited elbow room, I felt like I could not cut it easily. The Octopus dish was absolutely delicious. It came with potatoes. Overall, very flavorful dish. We then ordered the Lobster Pasta and Gnocchi. I liked the taste of both dishes, but I did not like how the Lobster came whole with the shell in the pasta. This honestly turned me off of the dish but do not get me wrong, the taste of everything was great! This is honestly a really cute date spot! I think I would consider doing appetizers and drinks at the bar if I were to come back. Would recommend checking this spot out if you are in Williamsburg. read more

It has expanded a bit with additional enclosed seating on the sidewalk and a beautiful private dinning room adjoining the original space. What has not changed is the menu's dedication to classic Italian dishes all executed with excellent local and imported ingredients. Oh, and wine! Possibly one of the most thoughtful and encyclopedic collection of Italy's natural wine movement. I will say it's pretty poppin on most weeknights when I walk by so maybe I'll stop in for food one of these days. It's pretty dark inside but overall very cute! Would categorize it as cozy and intimate. I actually found it VERY warm inside like heater on full blast lol. Was a bit confused by the various menus so just asked the server for some recommendations of acidic orange wines by the glass. They brought two out to sample and I opted for one that was pretty good, very funky and longer maceration/full-bodied. One of my favorite wine bars! I have been here twice and got the gnocchi cacio e Pepe both times for my meal. It is so good and a perfect portion for one (no leftovers). I like how they let you sample a few different wines before selecting a glass. Very nice decor inside, the waitress was very attentive. Only removing a star because I have been with 3 other friends and they have not enjoyed their pasta as much as I have and for $30+ pasta, I would expect better feedback. read more

The drinks were great and had the perfect amount of alcohol. The only negative was the wait time - we made a reservation for 8PM and were there at 8PM on the dot. We told a waitress about it and told us they'd be there for us in a bit. 15 mins passed and nothing so we had to ask someone else who finally went ahead and sat us down. Wow, the octopus and potatoes (appetizer) was super yummy. The octopus texture was perfect - nice and tender, not too chewy. It came with a slice of bread and some olive oil. Also tried the espresso martini (most popular drink), lamb ragu and a tonnarelli carbonara. I liked that they didn't taste super heavy for pasta, and the texture of the tonnarelli was al dente. Tonnarelli is like a thicker spaghetti. Espresso martini was very strong in espresso flavor initially but most of the alcohol is at the bottom of the glass!
